Honestly, I feel like having every single engine (besides Emily) having accurately moving side rods ruins the charm of Trackmaster, Tomy, and Plarail. Even though the actual side rod movement is incredibly inaccurate, it gives me a nostalgic vibe and charm. But hey. That’s just my opinion.

It’s because plarail and mattel were on a budget so they weren’t able to make diesel siderods they just molded it

Put the crank pins at 90* to one another as opposed to 180* it will prevent the side rods from jamming.
