I don't think that Ego or other Jhope's solo songs like Daydream and Hope World are not deep. If you look closely at the lyrics, you see that the lyrics convey fears, anxieties, struggles, which are the opposite of the upbeat music and the dance. This does not mean that the song is dark. But it's not completely bright as he talks at the beginning of the song about things from the past haunting him again. The difference now is he changed his attitude (he knows how to deal with such fears by accepting his fate and just trusting himself and focusing on the things he's good at). So the song has a deep message.

BTS has a cycle that they switch solos. It starts with RM, suga, jhope, jimin, tae, jungkook , then Jin is the last to do the solo.
For this trilogy RM has already done the solo so he will not be doing the solo for another few years.
The ego IS suppose to be brighter than shadow because it is the one that doesn’t identify with the shadow

React Bookish Theories Ego Explanation th-cam.com/video/DtTPn5Omyco/w-d-xo.html It helps explain the lyrics also about Persona,Shadow,Ego which is based on the book bts references in their music "Jung's Map of the Soul" (they even sell the book on their official site) that is all about carl jung's principles of psychology.
