THE BLACKSTONES was the last vocal group to record at studio 1 by Mr Dodd, All Jamaican born members are: (Leon Leiffer, Tony Mahoney, Junior Bailey, A j Franklin ) aka................. Good mini doc though I think it unfairly sidesteps the seminal place that mento and calypso had in the germination of ska. Here they are almost treated as if they were less important to the evolution of what became reggae than were American r&b acts. Which is odd since nearly every early ska/rocksteady artist began as a mento or calypso act (e.g. Toots and the Maytals, Laurel Aitken, Max Romeo, Jimmy Cliff, etc, etc).
Thanks for sharing this is great 👍👍

Studio one was great, but it is not the end all. As crazy as Duke Reid was, he was really the king.
