3:05 is a gem! Maybe also nice if you put a corner triangle in one or both corners of the white, which would make an hourglass or diamond in between the circle bits.
I wouldn’t bother with the paper for the rectangle shape - just sew your strips and cut with a ruler after... much less fuss. The paper is good for the arc shape. I know we all share our methods of doing things. Great video!
So I’m confused, which is easy for me to get confused...trust me. What is the difference with paper piecing and sewing on fabric to paper, like in these tutorials?
The principle is the same for both. The improv method doesn’t have any lines to sew along, you use the paper as a template to produce the required shape without the distortion you’d have if you didn’t use paper.

The paper piecing definitely made it appear more doable on the wedding ring block. Brought out my scrapes and going to take a deep breath and try it.

Use a short stitch and use thin paper. With a short stitch the paper comes of very easily.
