I have an inherited 2000 Silverado with only 111K miles on it. The AC has gone out and the paint is peeling, but you've inspired me. I was to do de-badge and take all of the bling off, fix the little things going bad, and do a 2/4 drop. Finally, paint. It's burgundy and I think that's what I'll keep with blacking out everything else. No show truck or racer, just back and forth to the big-box home improvement store in style.

Lt, I’m a huge fan! Watched every episode of truck tech that you hosted! Could you please do a mini series on how to tune? There are endless videos on how to install heads, cams, intakes, turbos ect... but there are not many good videos on how to tune. Many people shy away from it, but I know that you could do it! I already know that your answer is probably going to be no, but please consider to reconsider.

The Atlas 4200 was only found in the TrailBlazer (S10 Blazer) which was a heavy mid size SUV, the 4200 was rated at 291 HP, so it would of rolled the XCab or 4D 1500 fine.
    The 3500/3700 in the H3.
The SBE 409, 427, 454, 496 will handle 1000 HP, its not made of glass.

well, the 8.1 isnt the same thing as a Mark IV, V or Gen 6 BBC, it has really weak pistons that let go way before 1,000. The consensus seems to be somewhere around 550 to 600hp is where they let go

for the ugly truck, with the OD ratio of the 4l80e, a 4.56 would've given me a too high RPM on the highway (for what I was comfortable with) even on the 5.3. Kinda the same situation on the SRT, I felt like with the HP the engine made, a 4.56 was a little too much gear.

usually the next step for these trucks is to swap to a 14 bolt semi floating 9.5" axle which is a lot stronger, and they were found in 2005-2007 Vortec Max trucks that had the 6.0. I'm not sure if there are any drop in axles available for the 8.5/8.6 10 bolt that are stronger than stock...
