This is an excellent description of PLE. It is quite comprehensible and brought out clearly the distinction between LMS and PLE. I am truly motivated to start my own PLE and encourage others in my circle to do same.

All of these systems have their own merits, it depends what you need the system/learning for and the people accessing them. You can have an LMS that has a person centered approach, there can be a lot of overlap.

It's not either LMS or PLE. (You seem to make that point at the end but some may miss it.) Everyone in this digital and information-rich world has to be a lifelong learner. Thus, lifelong learners need a PLE. Despite its restrictive name, LMS, these are not inherently evil. The open education movement isn't fully realized in higher education, most notably not in its accrediting bodies and publishing companies.
