    Why do people think they're not liable even when something is a mistake? That's LITERALLY why it's called an ACCIDENT. I mean most people don't go out of the house thinking let me slam into people with my vehicle today. Just because it wasn't your INTENT to hit someone and cause damage doesn't mean you're absolved of the damage you caused 🤦🏾

    • @kiauni6818
      @kiauni6818 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because they dont want to get in trouble. A lot of people were treated wayy too harsh by their parents/gaurdians growing up for simple mistakes that they are scared of the consequences being over the top. A lot of us weren't even able to accidentally spill a glass of milk as a kid without being abused for it one way or another. & Yes tht includes yelling and belittling and hitting and overreacting to them. We weren't allowed to make mistakes. And making a mistake means we aren't worthy or good enough. That's why so many people have a hard time admitting fault. They are scared of the consequences being too much and scared to look like a bad person even if they know it was an accident. He wants to admit it but it's hurting him. The kids of these parents learned to make excuses and/or lie to their parents so that way the consequences hopefully aren't so harsh. He knows he messed up. He just wasn't taught that it's ok to make a mistake and it doesn't mean you're a bad person because of it. I could hear his pain in his chest. N then JJ is a strong kinda loud demeanor so it scares them too. Js.

    In the US, if you make a car insurance claim, are there any other costs or damages besides the deductible? Because in Ireland, for example, if I make a claim, I pay a deductible (usually not much), but I would lose the discount premium price when I have to renew it because I made a claim. I would effectively have to pay a higher premium for years until I can get it back to the discount price it was. This is called "no claim bonus", you can also get a "no claim bonus" protection, but still, if you make a claim, your premium will be higher.

They don't follow the rules of the road, they don't stop at red lights, they ride way to fast and most times not riding in the correct direction of flow of traffic. There is not a week that goes by that I have not been almost hit by a cyclist and they curse at me for being in their way when I had the "Right of Way" to cross or I'm walking with the flow of traffic and they are coming in the opposite way. They really should have to have insurance in order to ride a bike cause they do cause a lot of accidents.

    It is so good to see a cyclist having to pay for the damage they cause, If this were the UK, the driver would have almost certainly been found at fault and probably had to pay for the cyclists damage (if the cyclist hung around long enough after he hit the car). The car driver would probably have been charged by the Police. In the UK the laws have recently been changed basically giving cyclist the right to do whatever they like on the roads and as an added bonus they can blame the car driver, even if a cyclist fell out of the sky and landed on a car, it would still be the car drivers fault, according to the law.

      But how car the driver be at fault if the cyclist hits the side of their vehicle unless maybe they ran a light or stop sign?

      That's not true at all; I'm a car driver in the UK. You sound like a disgruntled person who didn't have a good experience with a bicyclist 🤣

      That's taking it to the extreme, it's the 'triangle of responsibility' meaning the larger the vehicle the greater their responsibility as they can do far more damage. However, it certainly does NOT give cyclists license to do what they want and be absolved of any responsibility. That's why I do have cycle insurance and so does every member of Cycle UK (about 70,000).

    He knew he had no chance of defending this case, which is why he didn't even try.
    He gets a free plane ride, a stay in a nice hotel, $250 appearance fee, and the $1000 judgement is covered by the network. I'd have done the same.

      Only for replacing a stolen bike. A cyclist can get home/renters to cover damages caused by them by this instance (which a lot of people either don’t own or have no idea it covers for this). A lot of people sue to the deductible because insurance would only cover if it was an auto/auto accident.
