정선5일장을 가다 / Going to Jeongseon 5-day Market

정선5일장은 1966년에 개장된 시골장터로, 지금도 옛날 장터의 향수를 느낄 수 있는 곳입니다.
그래서 정선에는 매월 “5일장(2, 7, 12, 17, 22, 27일)”과 “(매주 토요일)주말장”이 정선아리랑시장에서 열립니다.
이곳 시장에는 산에서 나는 각종 산나물과 약초, 감자, 황기, 더덕, 마늘 등 농작물과 농가에서 직접 재배한 각종 농산물이 주종을 이루고 있습니다. 그리고 이곳에서는 대부분 농가에서 직접 재배한 것을 직접 판매하기 때문에 신선한 상품을 싼 값으로 구입할 수 있습니다.
‘정선 아우라지’의 유래는 평창군 도암면에서 발원한 송천과 / 삼척의 하장면에서 발원한 골지천이 합류하는 곳에서, 2개의 큰 강물이 어우러진다 해서 아우라지라고 부른답니다.
그리고 사랑하는 처녀, 총각이 아우라지를 가운데 두고 살고 있었다고 합니다. 두 사람은 밤새 내린 폭우로 강물이 불어 약속한 날에 만나지 못하고, 그 안타까움이 정선아리랑의 가사가 되었다고 합니다.

So, in Jeongseon, “5-day market (2nd, 7th, 12th, 17th, 22nd, 27th)” and “(every Saturday) weekend market” are held at Jeongseon Arirang Market every month.
In this market, various kinds of wild vegetables from the mountains, medicinal herbs, potatoes, astragalus, garlic, etc. And since most of the farmhouses sell directly here, you can buy fresh products at low prices.
The origin of 'Jeongseon Auraji' comes from the confluence of Songcheon, which originates from Doam-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, and Goljicheon, which originates from Hajang-myeon, Samcheok, where two large rivers meet, so it is called Auraji.
And it is said that the beloved virgin, the bachelor, was living with Auraji in the middle. It is said that the two could not meet on the promised day because of heavy rain that fell overnight, and the river blew, and the sadness became the lyrics of Jeongseon Arirang.
