After 15 years without windsurfing i got back on the water, thanks to Sam it didnt take long for me to remember. Thank you Sam, those videos are very helpful and beatufily edited
👍 Although the motion advice of how to learn a tack on a Windsurfer was performed fairly swiftly, the description of the same was very precise and for anyone beginning to learn the sport it would be of benefit to them to see the entire movement on a screen first. Then also seeing it being performed by their tutor giving them a live demonstration on a simulator and letting them practice in the same manner before they set sail upon a Windsurfer themselves out at sea or in a lake.
Excellent video. I went out and practiced this and it went well. The hand exchange is always the trickiest for me, but grabbing the mast with the forward hand before the tack made it easier.
Hey Sam, i have one question. Can i do this on a wave board or board that is same litre size as my weight? Also swapping one's feet so fast seems near impossible, yet you have it sussed. Any tips on how to do it fast?
+TheFireblade1000RR you can definitely do this on a wave board. Try holding the mast lower and this will give you more time round the front. Also if you gradually sheet in the board will keep more speed rather than stall and give you more time. My top tip for being fast is keep the back hand behind the harness lines, when you let go of it you'll go round the front of the mast really fast.
+Skate Of The Art Ive not practised it much honestly, been trying to do the Heli tack, but yes what Sam suggested does make sense and will try once Winter here is over and summer winds are back.
I don’t understand what you’re saying at 1:58. “The more you’ve sheeted in, the more it will ??? you around to the front.” It sounds like “ping”, but that means nothing. The closed caption doesn’t help. Please don’t use slangy expressions in these instructional videos. We’re trying to learn something here and it has to be clear what.

I am going to try this! Super informative and great production! //Robin
Tyvm for this very informative video. Good production, good presentation, good instruction.
Very good explanation. Thank you for sharing!
Is it better to switch earlier while the board has more momentum, temporarily being backwinded?
Thanks, great video!
