@@dr.harnet466 Rwanda works well for a limited number of people such as foreigners with no interest in the abuses local Rwandans suffer from the government, people who are too powerful to be targeted by the ruling party, ex. Bill Gates, Mo Ibrahim. If you are in this kind of category, be warned the ruling party may seize your assets and send you packing without trial. Check what happened to Rujugiro, Rwigara etc or just ask randomly how many Rwandans in the diaspora are willing to risk their capital in Rwanda. They are very few! A country with a president who cannot be prosecuted for treason, even after he has left office is a volcano waiting to erupt.

Dr Harnet is based in Kigali? Make one mistake and you will be out of the country. Just lucky that you are just consulting. This is a ridiculously high-risk country. Not even Rwandans in the diaspora, who are desperate to invest back home, are trusting the leadership there. You are fine In Rwanda if you are a foreigner and willing to close your eyes to the injustices happening there and for as long as the top bosses think you are not causing them any trouble. You will struggle to find local creativity simply because there is no freedom of expression.

And as for those Rwandans returning, tell me the numbers because unlike you, I live with them in the diaspora and all categories together, they do not venture back to Rwanda despite having desire to do so. I have been with a Rwandan girl before and she has no real connection to Rwanda because of the genocide. She hasnt been 2 Rwanda since she was born and has resentment for Rwanda.
This is not the same with Rwandese born in Rwanda.

If you follow Rwandan social media, you will see a group of Rwandans swearing to join the Rwandan ruling party. They accept to be hung should they commit treason against the party. You see this kind of madness only among Rwandans. For record, Rwanda does not allow the death penalty in law yet people joining the ruling party in London commit themselves to the death penalty should they let down the party.
