I was stranded for an hour at Walmart because I didn’t know how to use it, mind you it is my brother’s car and I needed to borrow his because mine was in the shop. I have asthma and I needed to keep taking breaths to blow. It kept failing and needed to wait for my brother to come do the test. It is dangerous and shouldn’t be put in vehicles
My car has been in my driveway for 2 days. Just got this piece of shit Friday and now have to wait until Tuesday to get it towed to the service center. I’ve tried everything and it keeps saying blow harder. I’m like I’m not going to get lightheaded in traffic that’s more hazardous than a drunk driver lol.
I have had the intoxalock for 2 year now. Only had a lockout when I first got it because it drained my battery and lost power to the device.I called intoxalock and explained what happened. They were able to see what happened in their records and they waived the $75 fee. Like some people have said, I hold the button down for three seconds after I turn off the car and it goes into power save and then I wrap it in a towel when it is cold outside. The power save only lasts for about 12-16 hours, so I go out to the garage and hit power save on it periodically if not using the car. Try to start your car everyday even when you aren't going to use it. I would recommend getting a trickle charger ~$100 for your battery too. Costs a little bit, but better than paying for new batteries every few months. I hook it up to my battery about three-four times a week for a few hours just to keep my battery in good shape. These are things I had to figure out on my own. Intoxalock seems to be doing a little better now explaining the "how to and not what to do" issues. I hope this helps others.
@@Osamabeenleanin210 Yes, for me, the "power save" has helped a lot. When I first got the Intoxalock and wasn't familiar with the "power save" my battery was losing juice pretty quickly. The unit will drain your battery. Using "power save" and a trickle charger a few times a week have helped me immensely. Starting the car up daily is recommended too, whether using it or not. Doing those 3 things will help.
@@Osamabeenleanin210For me don’t work. And for some reason I keep getting lockout services required four times in 12 days that I have this device so frustrating
I’ve been watching interlock videos anticipating getting one after my dui. Well I hit the dui lottery and got a second chance. My lawyer went to my dmv license hearing and the cop never showed up so my license was reinstated without consequence. The shocking part is why the cop didn’t show up. After seeing his name again I knew it sounded familiar. I googled it and turns out he committed suicide after killing his 12 yr old daughter. One of the craziest stories that’s ever happened to me
Do you know if i can I do a dmv hearing even after I went to court already , i gotta have the device for a year but dont think ima do it i dont want them fuckin my car up...got my dui in a different county which is a hour and a half from where I live...doubt the cop will show up
@@DryRoach69 I’m in Nevada so I’m not sure how each state does it but I already had went to my court hearing also. My dmv hearing was six months after that.
I didn't even receive a DUI. I had a violation from 18 years ago and the state of Minnesota decided I need to blow in this box. What do you do when you get locked out? I was well under the legal limit at a dog park with my buddy working with our dogs and blew a 0.06 when I was leaving because the miserable police didn't have anything else to do but screw with me.
We've had sub-zero weather in Minnesota for the last two weeks. My truck froze couldn't start it intoxalock blocks me out. They said they weren't receiving data. It's hard to give them data when I couldn't start my truck for 4 days and now they want me to pay to unlock it because of the weather. I told them I can't control the weather but that doesn't matter to them. One of the best attorneys in the state of Minnesota. Joseph freeburg his son owns a company called Smart start. I'm going to try it. I've had enough of talking to Indians and Chinese that you can't understand
Tbh the device is extremely stressful, and when it retests, it likes going off at the worst possible times. I'm pretty sure you can pull over and take the sample, but it freaks me out, knowing there are seriously a lot of bad drivers, and too many people in a hurry. If at all possible find a dependable ride to work and back home. I would rather be paying somebody gas money, and never have to use that device ever again! So take the licenses suspension over the breathalyzer. Hopefully it doesn't happen to me again, but if so I'm definitely doing the licenses suspension. 🖕🖕 the breathalyzer device! Ik some of you want to be able to drive to work and home, but it seriously isn't worth the stress. Find a dependable ride if you can, and take the licenses suspension. You are more than likely going to save more money if you do
So if you’re licensed is suspended you don’t have to put the device in your car, only install it if you want to continue to drive with a restricted license
@@necolalafrance171from my understanding you have to install and have this device for a certain amount of time before you can get your unrestricted license back. If I could have just not drove at all for the time period my license was suspended and once that period expired I could go get my regular license back that's what I would have done but I can't do that until I successfully complete the intoxilock program or whatever the hell this is. Honestly it wouldn't bother me all that much if there just wasn't so many ways this company can screw you over, get you stranded, charge expensive fees ect BESIDES actually drinking alcohol.
Thanks for the tips. Had a breakdown as it took me 40 mins to do the trial one before installation. Cop almost put that I refused to blow. Legit need to get one that requires less force as it hurts ti breathe with my severe scoliosis
Went off 3 times during rush hour highway traffic. Anxious enough and panic as it is, so this is so dangerous for me. I also get log it headed and almost pass out
me too. it is a piece of crap. They are not designed to keep you safe from drinking. they are designed to fail. i am getting mine taken out. it is not mandated so i will just deal with my suspension for 7 months
I just got mine today! I almost hit the jersey wall trying to blow & drive at the same time. Its right up there with texting & driving! Anyone know if that camera is watching you the whole time. Im also a smoker so that doesn't help! I dont even drink like at all. I took my prescription meds after working a 10 hour over night shift. Got really tired & pulled over. Next thing i know the cops are busting out my back window. I was going to give blood but they kpt saying its ok if u don't want to we would hve to go somewhere else & were going to release you. Had i known it was going to be like this i would have insisted on giving blood! Ok thats my rant. 😢
@@wowstacia4943I've only had mine for a few days so I'm still very new to this but I'm not sure if the camera is watching you in real time but I feel for certain that when you go in for a calibration that data gets downloaded and sent to the company. I would also imagine if someone was to blow a positive while driving and the horn goes crazy it would alert the company and they could turn on the camera. Looking at that camera really makes you understand George Orwells 1984 much better "big brother is watching you" lol
I blew a .02 and it let me start with no violation. I also just had a sync error 2 code today. Had to call in let them know i was having issues so its on record. Then hung up cause their customer service is bs. Unhooked my battery for 5min and rehooked it up and fixed the issue. This device is a pain in the ass. Also make sure your keys are out of your ignition when you first start to avoid a $75 violation 11 code.
This is very dangerous for many of reasons. I feel sorry for people who live in the city trying to drive or people who have anxiety, asthma. My cousins goes off way more than once every 30mins & she has asthma & anxiety. I rode with her one time... Never again!! I had to drive her car home from the hospital for her.... NEVER AGAIN!!
I totally agree, Plus anything from using mouthwash to breath mints can cause a positive test??? The sad thing is if you have just two beers at Applebee's and get pulled over literally leaving Applebee's you blow dirty even though you are not intoxicated and can drive better than 9 out of 10 people on the road. I'm not against it I've heard horror stories about innocent people being killed from a drunk driver but I always look at both sides of things as well.
Can you explain cold weather, and a couple more points please? You mentioned "giving the car some time to warm up" -- yet you can't start the car in the first place without doing the test. Without being able to unplug it, it's going to be a "cold start" every time. Can you address the shut off procedure (done driving)? That's a big one I think that you missed. After the car is off, and "you have 2 minutes to restart without a test" - etc. An important thing to note* - is when you're done driving, sit in the car for 2-3 minutes and wait for a potential prompt-to-test (It sounds like to me). I've seen "power save mode"/hold for 3 seconds - or press the button 3 times - is that a thing? I have a trickle charger for my motorcycle, so I'll likely plug it onto the battery nightly anyway though. Thanks for your time
Borrowing my uncle's car with one. He explained how this stupid thing works very poorly lol. Had us going down the street with the horn blasting until I got it worked out. This makes way more sense lol
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO. I AM JUST STARTING AND I AM HAVING SO MANY PROBLEMS HOW MANY TIMES WILL IT LET YOU TRY AGAIN. I AM SO AFRAID THAT MY CAR WILL GET LOCKED BECAUSE I KEEP MESSING UP. PLEASE HELP ME.
I'm almost done with it. Got two weeks left. Here is how you save the battery situation and the won't tell you this. When you shut your car off wait for the restart count down then unplug it and take it in the house.when your ready to drive again plug it in first wait for it to come on then blow and start the car.you will solve the battery problem. Also if you drink the night before make sure you eat a big meal and drink water before you sleep. Trust me it will save you a ton of money. It took me 6 or 7 months to find out everything about this pain in the @ss.
Hi I’m really new to this. I’m goig to have the installation next week ? Would you please share me your experience w the devices and what things I should to or should not .Much thank and appreciate it
@@thunguyen2040 ty my husband had a beer the night before and we got this installed and he failed now we at resturant tryna make him eat i. Tired of blowing in this thing lol
Sounds like a good way to get a violation 42 notice. The Fuxulock, I mean Intoxilock representatives told me if I unhook the box it will register as tampering with the device. At this time the red lights on the camera are still on and my vehicle has been shut off for two hours. And congratulations on your Fuxulock, I mean Intoxilock removal.
No do not unplug the device. The cold weather was giving me problems so I took it home one night. Next morning, got an error message.. "lockout in 5 days"... Had 5 days to take it to servicer to unlock it. They charged me 20 and intoxalock charged me $75 added to my bill. The device can only be removed for 5-30 minutes. Moral of the story, is don't unplug this stupid ddvice for more than 5 minutes.
I plan to get it installed but not drive the car. Everyone says it drains the battery. I've ordered a NICO GENIUS 1 amp trickle charger from Amazon. Is there anything else I should do?
Definitely great idea on the trickle charger. I have one too and it’s saved me a few times already. You’re going to want to start the car and do at least two of the tests every 4 to 5 days or it will give you a service required message due to inactivity so be careful. Oh also if you do get a LOCKOUT you DO NOT have to pay the $75 dollars for the bullshit reset fee!!! Take it down to have it “recalibrated “ it costs $20 😉. And resets it for you saving you $55 dollars. I had Intoxalock for a year and a half. Absolute nightmare!!! My heart goes out to anyone that has to deal with this company!!!! If you have the option to choose your Interlock provider and your area has Guardian Interlock DEFINITELY GO WITH THEM INSTEAD!!!!! I hope this helps and best of luck to you.
@Herk Land i had no problems with mine draining the battery...but i had a bran new battery...and i drove my car pretty much everyday....if you're not going to drive everyday get a trickle charger and keep it charged, letting the car set the battery will loose some of its charge...if the battery goes dead they will violate you and make you pay extra money even though the battery died...whatever you do don't go to Smart Start they will rip you off...
when it goes off while driving, i grab the device and the mouthpiece always flies off and I have to pull over and search for the mouthpiece. How do I keep the mouthpiece from fliying off every time I grab the device?
The damn thing has drained my battery 3 times in as many months, battery has been tested and it is good carrying a full charge. Now it has an error 2 code and no one at Intoxalock is any help, towing it to the shop and having it removed.
My gawd I didn't start it for only 4vdays because I get my license this week my alternator my battery now ....it's stuck in a lot psychotic it didn't let me know I needed a recalibration
What if you are going from a red light to the highway right after the light turns green and it beeps? How do I drive with one hand and the car is manual
You better get a 15$ solar charger from harbor freight.. otherwise your battery will die and you'll be charged 75 from intoxalock and 25 from service..
This company is a scam. Buyer beware. It makes its money on lockout charges. Each lockout imposes a $75 lockout fee so you best be aware that their algorithm trips you to fail and get locked out. One way it achieves that is that it will ask you for a retest as soon as you turn the ignition off which makes it easy to miss. This is clearly an algorithm issue that should be easily remedied but it’s embedded into their units nonetheless. The other way it does that it’s the infernal “waiting for sync” message which will carry on into perpetuity. And it will do it at the most inopportune time like when you just finished pumping gas and there are cars lining up behind you. It leaves you no choice but to disconnect the battery to enable the car to start. There should already have been a class action lawsuit against Intoxalock for their predatory business practices. And good luck getting a customer service representative who speaks English because they don’t. Their reps speak using a script and their responses are always scripted. And believe me, they make it impossible for the customer to switch to a different provider. Once you sign up, you are stuck with them and screwed for the remainder of your lease. Definitely, caveat imptur.
Intoxalock is actually one of the better IID companies. I’ve never had a “waiting for sync” message in the 6 months I’ve had it. You should never disconnect the battery without reporting the maintenance beforehand, that’s what triggers a lockout. They have a very user friendly app, they fix lockouts for you so long you tell them beforehand. I haven’t been connected to a service rep that couldn’t speak English, and trust me I’ve had to call them dozens probably hundreds of times. Interlocks all suck, but intoxalock is one of the better and cheaper ones.
JUMPING JIMMY, you are 100% correct! And thanks for your posts. This has been my experience 100%. Even worse. My God, this outfit is pure evil. I will post negative things on them til the day I die, just to divert as much money from them as possible. We must re-post and re-post and re-post and get the truth out about this awful company!
i dont like this company for other reasons but if you fail a test its cuz you drank the night before or whatever the case may be... but i never had issues of "lockout" other than what i just said.
@@tyleroconnor1534 Uh, that’s cute and all, but what you say is incorrect … Obviously, if you fail a test, then that’s on you … What happened to me was that their device drained my battery; then when I called them, they (IN BARELY UNDERSTANDABLE ENGLISH) told me that they were no longer able to communicate with my device. Then SOMEHOW (so I was told told by their rep.) that this constituted a “violation” on my part. Then I asked what I needed to do to address the matter? They said “Go to your service-center to get new equipment.” I said, “Ok, and that’s free, right?” To which the reply came back, “No. it will cost you $325.” I raised holy hell on them. I also notified my DMV about the situation. I take TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY for the mistakes in life that I have made, but I won’t take responsibility for something I DID NOT DO … So save your sermonizing for someone else, and get all sides of a story before making another ignorant, uninformed statement like the one you just made.
If you don't want the battery to die, that is what's suggested or use a trickle charger to keep it charged. If you don't have access, best case is to run it for 30 or more minutes daily and don't miss a sample!
So the battery doesn’t die, and also so the court can see you’re actively driving the car with the interlock installed. Some people installed it in a broken car just to say they got have the IID so they don’t have to have it in their real car. These people are the reason why.
Just unplug device and get mileage. Guy where I bring mine said an old timer had it installed on a junk vehicle that was up on blocks and would drive a different vehicle lol every couple days he would go run the vehicle to go through a few tests and leave it on trickle charge

@David Jones I even tried just one long steady breath a few tries since it says "blowing" when I start, but no matter how long or how hard or steady i blow, the message "blowing" is shown , and I get the same messages after im out of air. I like how they think it's justified to make these unfair and stupid because the person drank and it's their fault. You're putting other people in danger by making these so aggravating to use. Punish people in a way that's actually sensible if you're going to punish them. Just because someone drank and made a mistake doesn't justify whatever you do to them. The punishment must fit the crime and making these so stupid so they end up re-offending or getting locked out of their car just screams "we want you to have it longer to milk you for more money." I have had the intoxalock for 2 year now.

After seeing his name again I knew it sounded familiar. I googled it and turns out he committed suicide after killing his 12 yr old daughter. One of the craziest stories that’s ever happened to me

It’s so tricky! I locked myself out for over an hour trying to leave the grocery store

It's hard to give them data when I couldn't start my truck for 4 days and now they want me to pay to unlock it because of the weather. You are more than likely going to save more money if you do
Thinking of doing that just because I don't want them fuckin up my cars wiring
They still make you use it even after the suspension is over. They get you no matter what.
So if you’re licensed is suspended you don’t have to put the device in your car, only install it if you want to continue to drive with a restricted license
@@necolalafrance171from my understanding you have to install and have this device for a certain amount of time before you can get your unrestricted license back. Honestly it wouldn't bother me all that much if there just wasn't so many ways this company can screw you over, get you stranded, charge expensive fees ect BESIDES actually drinking alcohol.

I drank & drove throughout the 70s and 80s and 90s thank God I never had to do that
Thank you.. I finally managed to start the car
I have to get one of these for a year seems like a major pain in the ass

I have had it four months unable to breathe hard enough to start it so my car is unable to be driven anymore. Just sits on trickle charger
Nope paying for a device that sits in a car that can't be driven makes a lot of sense as far as preventing drinking and deiving
Dont use aftershave or face wipes with alcohol in them either. Learned that the hard way getting ready for work since i work overnight

@Herk Land or on days your not going to drive just start the car and let it run for a little bit...

You really don’t need that much pressure with you breaths lol you can easily blow it
This company is a scam.
All my intoxalock reps have spoken English, just saying.
JUMPING JIMMY, you are 100% correct! And thanks for your posts. This has been my experience 100%. Even worse. My God, this outfit is pure evil. I timed myself one of the tries and I blew hard and steady for 12 seconds, but the message "blowing" never left the screen and immediately said "retry"..then "blow harder next time". I've only had it on the truck for 29 days. This is ridiculous.
Don’t go with that brick go with low cost interlock small device and they don’t charge If u miss a test
Does anyone with intoxalock know how and when to use power save.
Does anyone have a phone number that you can actually talk to a person?

It’s a way I can removed it myself , I already finished my DUI but they charging me $200 , please help
You can’t remove it yourself. I know this comment is old and you’ve probably figured it out, but for other people. You need a professional intoxalock certified mechanic to install and remove it, or you will be fined $200+ and possibly in legal trouble, even if your time is up for it.

Awesome, drink & drive, fuck yeah, America 🤘🏻🇺🇸
Nope, I had to get one, under a false arrest. I was drowsy driving, not drinking - but agree F the U.s. hate this God forsaken place too. and yeah you have a satanic hand symbol there dude Creeeeepy

I have one of these luckily we install them at my job so I cheated rigged it up my way don’t even have to blow lol
There's a company called Smart start, there an American company based out of Minnesota all their employees speak English. I personally didn't receive a DUI I had a bcard violation from 18 years ago and the communist state of Minnesota decided to hang. In Minnesota you can burn down entire city blocks and police stations but you can't have three beers on your breath. Believe me I'm disgusted with this filthy state.
Omg after reading these comments I’m scared… just going to cross my fingers that maybe it won’t be that bad and… most of these comments are quite old? I’ll get mine installed soon. I need to make it to work on time every day 😳😫
Same kinda worried I won’t be able to start my car before work if I brush my teeth or something
@@Allotti22 all the horror stories I’ve seen on the internet are not true to my experience. Thank god. I’ve had it installed for maybe a month now, through smart start. It’s so easy and I have had zero problems. Oddly I actually like having it in my car lol.
@@sarahellenrose that’s a relief I’ve just read stuff about cologne and random stuff that could throw it off and lock the device which had me a bit worried. Thank you
So how's it work for y'all and technically can't we just blow into it few times a month and not drive it or maybe just go up the street just so it'll drive ?
Do you realize you said to have someone take the test for you if you can't ???
if someone else drives your car they have to
Take the test every time it tells you to, it will show as a missed test otherwise 😭
The punishment must fit the crime and making these so stupid so they end up re-offending or getting locked out of their car just screams "we want you to have it longer to milk you for more money."
For-profit justice system that benefits from people committing crimes gives the government incentive to make more criminals.
this is a reason to never drink and drink they SUCK as a mechanic and having customers with them
That's bs blow then 7 minutes the 30??? You blow once then good till your turn the car off. When you turn on the car blow again
He wrong in most food containing alcohol yes but not breath mint or gum lol they don’t contain alcohol. Keep in mind you can’t start the car till your alcohol blood level is under .2 they car can fail and still allow you to drive it. This device was extremely easy to use and the rules was fine.
Just keep blowing and report everything that goes on , every step
I wish I read the comments this piece of nonsense in my car …anxiety level 10, beeps and beeps to blow harder, I have no more breath, Probably calibrated so that there’s a lot of errors so that they can continuously charge you. I’m saying Definitely don’t have this put in your car and go to another device!!!!this device do not install it it will create more problems for you the videos make it look like if it’s easy it’s not easy. The sales people but so you ca
Does it work on weed to
What does it mean when it say comm 99 countdown
I had that today. Call in to let them know youre having issues. But you need to try unhooking your device for 30sec. Then rehook it up. If it still doesnt work, unhook your car battery for a minute then rehook it up. Fixed it for me.
@@BOOGiNS yea i disconnected the battery then conneted it back it worked
@@anthonygee4157 Make sure to get their OK first, otherwise you may be charged!
its going to explode..
