      Why is this so rare to find a healthy cockatoo?

    • @Boredchinchilla
      @Boredchinchilla 3 ปีที่แล้ว +51

      @@Kitty-tc3oh people feed them the wrong food, don’t give them enough exposure to sunlight, keep them in cages all day and night, etc. they often have flaking brittle beaks from mineral deficiencies and bald spots from picking their feathers from stress.

    • @viccolasvic9461
      @viccolasvic9461 3 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      @@Kitty-tc3oh Parrot care is a huge commitment and there's a lot of (sometimes purposeful) misinformation, and lack of education. They are delicate expensive loud messy undomesticated animals with the emotional needs on par with a toddler and can live on the lower end 15 years and 90 years on the higher end. I've been reaserching parrot care for 5+ years and I'm STILL not ready for the responsibility of owning one yet.

    All the stories and fur babies were great but Simba the Burmese Kitty reminded me of something my Vet said about one of our cats during his annual check up. She told me that he was looking great but that his examination was shortened a bit because he had “Run Out Of Kitty Minutes”. Dr. Alex opted to not get to that point with Simba and it was obviously better for all that he be asleep during the tests. Another great job!

    Next time you find something like that ring around a bid's leg, you may want to invest in a pair of snap ring pliers. they are specifically made to remove things like that.

    • @falconeio
      @falconeio 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@mychatpalace I know this, but when they are too small and get too tight, you need the right tool to remove them. Normal pliers can flex the band into the bird's leg and cutters chance cutting the bird, where snap ring pliers expand the ring in a way that won't hurt the bird.

    That feisty 19 y/o tuxedo cat (Reubens?) reminds of my daughter's almost 18 y/o calico. She is also very feisty and has to be mildly sedated before taking her to the vet. I could never have a big dog like a Newfie that slobbered all over the place. Just not my kind of dog. But then there are those who don't little lap dogs, so that's fine, because then all the dogs are covered and can be cared for.

Being disabled I can no longer go to the vet with my husband when our furbabies need to go and it just breaks my heart. If there is that option where we live I can't imagine how expensive it would be. We have many times forgone our own healthcare in order to afford our animal's care. @@tootz1950 Actually I can think of several reasons to neuter a male cat other than preventing him from breeding. Mostly behavioral issues. Like, territory marking, wandering, aggression. If the cat had these problems, I’d have his nuts cut off right away.
      Also, neutering prevents testicular cancer.

    No offence buuuuuuut....... Maybe make a special CART for the tortoise 🤷🏼 Just saying.
    Put him in the cart, wheel the cart up a ramp and into the truck, then into the vets office. Weigh him in the cart, as you should know the weight of that and be able to subtract it from the total weight..... Then wheel him back into the van, drive him home, and wheel him back to his habitat....... TAH DAH! WAAAAAY less lifting. Just saying.
