I lost my oldest son, Joshua Orion Rico, in 2018 to alcoholism. I, myself, am alcohol free since 2007. He lost my Mom, Ina Benally in 2017to alcohol also. He couldn't take the pain of the loss. They weren't really talking to each other for awhile. When she passed, he lost it. I tried helping him so much, but he couldn't shake the drink. He always told me "Dad, you're the strongest person I know. I love you". I ask why and his response was "I don't know how you live without your mom all these years". I lost my Mom, Rose Hayes in 87. I had a big argument with my mom and said "I don't want to see you like this. Don't come around anymore if you're drunk." And walked off. I never saw her again. For years, I fought the pain and guilt of that, which fueled my alcoholism. After my son's burial, I didn't listen to nothing for the whole week he passed, and I turned on the Radio. It is this song. I miss him so much. Love you Son. Til we meet again

I cry every time I hear this version. In losing someone who makes a difference in our lives, we lose a little bit of ourselves and we hold that in our memories. By remembering how strong these lyrics are, and how Dolores delivered her talent, we can hold this a little more dear to our hearts. She certainly had a part in shaping me into the person I am today. when i listen to a song with a message like this one i try to learn about the motive that lead someone to wright it. this is about the death of 2 boys, 3 and 12 years old, on the way to buy a mortherday card for their mom. i not sure if that´s correct but the record company wanted dolores to stop working on this song and even offer her a check of 1 million dollars for her not release it. the song is outhere... we all know what happened to that check. I am conflicted about it because I don't think they meant any disrespect but maybe they could have waited a bit longer. It was obvious from the message she left on their answer machine just hours before she died that she was extremely into this cover though. I couldn't watch this video without crying either. It was a bad day for the world losing her.

There is a bitter rivalry between Gibson and ESP dating back to the 80s and 90s (ESP made copies of Gibson's and got sued many times by them). The Cranberries are rock/alternative-ish. The Bad Wolves version is METAL. ESP wins!
