Hrmm, you're missing the point. This is about the Russians claiming they have built a stealth fighter, when they have not. And there seems to be a clear pattern in the Russians over-hyping their weapon systems, just to see them fail badly in Ukraine (Terminator, S-400), or being so far from reality that they do not even really dare deploy them (Armata, Su-57). Israel took their F-35s over Irans territory and bombed the Iranians air defenses without loosing a single jet. That is what stealth is all about. And as Wes has just clearly demonstrated, there is a reason why the Russians keep their "stealth" fighter so far away from Ukrainian air defenses. The Russian economy is quite small, and they desperately want to look like a big player on the world stage, having top technology in every aspect of arms technology, navy, land, air and space. This is just not possible, so in stead they just make things up. And the Ukraine war has exposed their bluff, leaving them stand (alone) as the naked emperor with no clothes on. Its a catastrophe for their arms exports, now that the world has clearly seen that Russian weapons are not what they are cranked up to be. Another good example is: The S-400 has shown that it cant not defend it self from just about anything ballistic, cruise missiles or even drones. Meanwhile the Patriot SAM, designed in the 1970s shoots down Russia's "hyper-sonic" Kinzhal - a missile with specs far exceeding what the Patriot was even designed for.
@@LK-jl3pc Okay, you might have a point here. Even with new 2d nozzle engines Su-57 is rather low observable than truly stealth. But it's still 5th gen, better than F-35 but somehow weaker than F-22. Russia has 4++ gen too and those are Su-35 and MiG-35, Su-57 is considerably better despite Su-35 and MiG-35 being quite decent jets for 4th gen So, maybe Russia haven't built a true stealth fighter, but still a true 5th gen
instead of saying su-57, mention it as t-50. Because every statistic you just said is only for the t-50. The su-57 has way better stealth, will acquire new engines and stealth nozzles on top. It has a lower MEDIAN radar cross section than the f-35 aswell.
SU57 rcs is 100x larger than the f117 as measured over Ukraine. In 2050 they are saying they might be at parity with where the USA was in 1993. Logarithms don't complicate math; they make large variations in numbers more manageable. Excellent presentation. Subscribed.
I've noticed some trends in Russian military aviation history: -- Shit build quality -- Genuine smekalka that occasionally yields great innovations . . . but its more frequently taken up having to wrestle with design issues brought on by the aforementioned lack of resources. I.E "Is giving our astronauts pencils _actually_ ethnic Russian genius, or are we just too poor to afford the ballpoint pens that work in space NASA developed?" -- Never being able to design their own engines because it's too expensive, so practically every engine Russia has ever used was stolen or bought.
1 gen - subsonic ww2 fighters like Meteor 2 gen - transsonic Corea war fighters like Sabre or mig-15/17 3 gen - supersonic fighters like mig-21 or f-4 4 gen - maneuverable supersonic fighters with advanced bvr capabilities like f-15/su-27 5 gen stealthy supercruise fighters with sensorfusion 6 gen - stealthy hypercruise autonomous networked sensor fusion weapon platforms
Yes Su 57 , f16 and rest of 4 th gen fighter beat the shit out of f35 in close range combat...plus russia has the advantage of hypersonic bvr which US lacks.
The F-22 Raptor, introduced in 1996, represents a remarkable achievement in aerospace engineering. As the world's first operational fifth-generation fighter, it set a high bar for stealth, agility, and multi-role capability. Its design prioritizes unmatched stealth characteristics, advanced avionics, and supercruise capabilities, making it a cornerstone of U.S. air dominance. In contrast, the Russian Su-57 Felon, marketed as a fifth-generation fighter, struggles to match the F-22's performance. The Su-57 has faced persistent issues, including delays, production challenges, and questions about its actual combat readiness. Its design, while innovative in certain aspects, lacks some critical features that define true fifth-generation aircraft Unlike the F-22, the Su-57's engine nozzles are exposed, undermining its stealth profile. This not only increases its radar cross-section but also makes it more vulnerable to infrared detection. Analysts have pointed out that the Su-57 incorporates elements resembling fourth-generation fighters, with stealth appearing as an afterthought rather than a core design principle. The Su-57's development has been hampered by limited production numbers and reliability concerns. Only a handful of operational units exist, compared to the F-22's proven track record in service. The avionics, sensors, and integration of the Su-57 lag behind the F-22, which boasts unparalleled situational awareness and networked combat capabilities. While Russian state media often positions the Su-57 as a rival to the F-22, objective comparisons reveal a significant performance gap. The F-22, with its proven combat effectiveness and advanced engineering, remains a symbol of American technological superiority in aerial warfare.
Nice presentation. The workmanship and parts fitment on the Russian jets are exceedingly substandard. Probably have Vodka caps rattling around in the airframe 😁
But the M1 has excelled?. In a shooting war where the other side shoots back we see the M1 is inferior to both leopard and a long way behind challenger with its better gun and armour.
Comparing generation numbers is somewhat pointless. What matters much more is if a system is capable of fulfilling the role assigned by doctrine and commanders. Russia and previously the Soviet Union have assigned a role less demanding on aircraft capabilities. Soviet / Russian air-to-air missiles and other air launched weapons tend to have a much longer range than their Western equivalents. That increased stand off distance is cutting the demand on the stealth capabilities. That's cutting quite some slack for the Su-57. It may not be as good as its Western counterparts - but the real question is if it is good enough to do the job assigned to it I'm also under the impression the Su-57 currently is more of an alpha version. It flies, it is useable but not a final version. The Soviet Union and Russia have marketed their arms to customers who didn't have cosy relations to the West, which the Soviet Union rsp. Russia meant to support for political reasons or didn't have the necessary budget to buy expensive Western arms. For these market the Su-57 is a bit like a flying showroom. Prospective customers are hoped to finance R&D of future Su-57 revisions. For many prospective customers the question is not if the system in question is the very best. It's more is it good enough to impress or defeat potential adversaries. And these adversaries may only have older third or fourth generation aircraft.
You should reach out to Habitual Linecrosser. He's US Army AIr Defender and works on Patriot. His character, F-22 'The Kid' Raptor once torched the Su-57 Felon as not having an RCS but a Zip Code! Which tells you a lot about his opinion. Big time.
The first major hint that not all was what it seemed with the Su-57 is when it was announced that Ruzzia was building it and making its usual absurd claims.
Maaaaan....I just can't stop thinking about those rivets on the SU57 .... I think the rivets is what gives the SU57 it's stealth capabilities 🙂....🤣🤣🤣🤣 Either that or Russian understanding of stealth is different from that of the West and even China. And it's funny Pyotr Ufimtev the Soviet mathematician and physicist set the foundation for stealth technology.
Let's be honest here... Russia will never be able to create anything better than it already has on any major weapon system. China and Europe probably won't be able to either -- or will do so on extreme time lines it doesn't matter. You simply can't support advances in weapon research when you have non-sustainable birth rates. You simply don't have enough workers to make food, to support workers making basic necessities, to support university, chip manufacturing, etc. Each time your working age demographic shrinks, not only does that mean less workers, those workers now have to support their aging parents and grandparents. You can't make microchips when you have 20% less workers and 50% more people in nursing homes.
And your point is? If you want a high-tech fighter then you have to be prepared for the maintenance costs. What is the point of a stealth fighter if it isn't stealthy? The maintenance costs are an efficiency issue, what matters is that the costs are sustainable and balanced against what that one hour of flight time gives you.
Get an Air Force radar operator talking planes and RCS, and it’s time to break out the pencils, graph paper, and scientific calculator. Class is in session! 😊
Retired USAF AWACS radar operator here. Thanks for your service. I can confidently confirm that the USAF is far superior in every way compared to the russian air force. 😂 In fact the US Navy air power is superior compared to the russian air force. I yawn every time I hear the russians brag about the power of their pathetic air force.
I know it's just part of the rumour mill, so take it for what it's worth, but I've heard that there are only 7 operational airframes, all prototypes. Also, it's essentially a 4th gen aircraft with a body kit. Almost all of the money for the entire Su57 program was stolen. Same happened with Armata, S400, tyres, ammo, rations, you name it, all pilfered or outright stolen. Lol.
I thought 5th Gen was generally seen as also having sophisticated sensor integration. I know the generations are blurred. At some point it's going to be much more about the generation of the missiles, right?
Honestly, that's how we know Russia and have known them since the 60s. They have it all in their mouths and the weapons they actually make - although some of them look nice, are nothing more than a load of crap. I have held a position in the Danish defense where I have worked with air defense. Yes, actually back from when 40 mm Bofors cannons were the real backbone of this defense. And have actually - as perhaps one of the relatively few Danes - tried to lock onto one of their planes, with a Superfledermaus Shooting Radar (Target Designation and TargetDataControl - controlling the cannons). It was much easier to track a MIG-23 (Flogger) than it was to track and lock onto an old Danish Draken. And back then they also claimed that they were far superior to everything NATO had. But I guess that's just a way they use to get more money out of the treasury and into the always infinitely deep private pockets of the generals. Increased appropriations to finance their summer homes and cars - not weapons - God forbid. Long live Russian corruption - as long as it lives healthy and strong we have nothing to fear.
The swed gripen is therefore a 4.5 generation fighter because of its capability to supercruse and its pull-push modules for new change of equipment and modularity for new SW and so on. Not to forget it's low RCS! So the gripen is not a 4,5 gen no, more like a 4,75 gen aircraft! 🤗🇪🇺🇸🇪🇺🇦🇸🇪🇪🇺

Su-57: holds a world record for longest air-to-air kill in history, R-37M at Ukrainian Su-27 at 217 kilometers
F-22: the only prey of a mighty Raptor so far was an unarmed Chinese spy balloon
Various dumb dudes on TH-cam who are too lazy to find information on the subject before posting pure unalloyed cringe: "Su-57 bad, source: trust me bro"
This alledged long-range kill is a feat of the missile, not the plane.
Russia has 4++ gen too and those are Su-35 and MiG-35, Su-57 is considerably better despite Su-35 and MiG-35 being quite decent jets for 4th gen
So, maybe Russia haven't built a true stealth fighter, but still a true 5th gen
Man, this missiles can be launched even from old MIG's, so your point about plane is dumb.
@@hermes7587 And a feat of the plane is that it can carry and guide that missile onto an aerial target at extreme distance.
What about Oreshnik?
I'm sure somebody else has already mentioned it but the F-35 is INCAPABLE of supercruise.
instead of saying su-57, mention it as t-50. Because every statistic you just said is only for the t-50. The su-57 has way better stealth, will acquire new engines and stealth nozzles on top. It has a lower MEDIAN radar cross section than the f-35 aswell.
su57 has rcs 100x greater than f117
The SU-57 is slowly evolving into a pretty awesome aircraft, the SU-75 incorporating much of its technology will be a force to be reckoned with also.
”Yeah, sure it does, Sputnik” 😂😂
SU57 rcs is 100x larger than the f117 as measured over Ukraine. In 2050 they are saying they might be at parity with where the USA was in 1993. Logarithms don't complicate math; they make large variations in numbers more manageable. Excellent presentation. Subscribed.
The phrase "Made in China or ruzzia" come to mind...
Hey, at least Chinese made crap works, mostly. 🤣🤣🤣
Great informative video!
Russia has never had a 5. generation fighter (at most 4,5) and certainly not a 6. generation 😂
Only the russian planes appear on the radar screen. No need for friend and foe system.
Hi Wes ,u got great channel shouts to you from Suomi Finland 🇫🇮
~ MAN how I love your breakdowns...
That's a dynamite tech explanation, I salute you!
Thanks Wes
Right, pre-production. Nobody wants to buy it. It looks fun in the demos.
I've noticed some trends in Russian military aviation history:
-- Shit build quality
-- Genuine smekalka that occasionally yields great innovations . . . but its more frequently taken up having to wrestle with design issues brought on by the aforementioned lack of resources. I.E "Is giving our astronauts pencils _actually_ ethnic Russian genius, or are we just too poor to afford the ballpoint pens that work in space NASA developed?"
-- Never being able to design their own engines because it's too expensive, so practically every engine Russia has ever used was stolen or bought.
1 gen - subsonic ww2 fighters like Meteor
2 gen - transsonic Corea war fighters like Sabre or mig-15/17
3 gen - supersonic fighters like mig-21 or f-4
4 gen - maneuverable supersonic fighters with advanced bvr capabilities like f-15/su-27
5 gen stealthy supercruise fighters with sensorfusion
6 gen - stealthy hypercruise autonomous networked sensor fusion weapon platforms
Yes Su 57 , f16 and rest of 4 th gen fighter beat the shit out of f35 in close range combat...plus russia has the advantage of hypersonic bvr which US lacks.
🤣🤣🤣 funny...
🤡🤡🤡😭
So, the SU-57 is as stealthy as a 4th gen Eurofighter Typhoon...
Its design, while innovative in certain aspects, lacks some critical features that define true fifth-generation aircraft
Unlike the F-22, the Su-57's engine nozzles are exposed, undermining its stealth profile.
But what about the T-14? Now that's a super weapon! Right?
It's super for parades
Actually it even failed at a parade and never seen in its natural habitat unless it was in a showroom.
But the M1 has excelled?.
In a shooting war where the other side shoots back we see the M1 is inferior to both leopard and a long way behind challenger with its better gun and armour.
@@JohnJones-k9d who told you that?

Yeah I wonder that as well, that sounds nothing but "patriotic" BS instead of presenting fact.
It may not be as good as its Western counterparts - but the real question is if it is good enough to do the job assigned to it
I'm also under the impression the Su-57 currently is more of an alpha version.
Huge differences between generations of fighters so certainly not pointless.
I thought Super Hornets were more closer to Gen 4.5 than Gen 4
B-2 is 5th generation bomber
Maaaaan....I just can't stop thinking about those rivets on the SU57 .... I think the rivets is what gives the SU57 it's stealth capabilities 🙂....🤣🤣🤣🤣
Either that or Russian understanding of stealth is different from that of the West and even China. And it's funny Pyotr Ufimtev the Soviet mathematician and physicist set the foundation for stealth technology.
Sometimes you just have to face reality. They haven't yet
Nothing like the F 35 which needs maintenance for every hour of flying, don't criticize if you can't match the other 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
And your point is? If you want a high-tech fighter then you have to be prepared for the maintenance costs. What is the point of a stealth fighter if it isn't stealthy? The maintenance costs are an efficiency issue, what matters is that the costs are sustainable and balanced against what that one hour of flight time gives you.
Please stop talking about things you know nothing about
Tom cruise designed the Su 57 for his movies. His design worked better than the Russian plane 😅
Get an Air Force radar operator talking planes and RCS, and it’s time to break out the pencils, graph paper, and scientific calculator. Class is in session! 😊
Like an older banger with a bodykit added
IF it goes even worse they will announce even more super weapons
The SU-57 Femboy.
China doesn't have a legit 5th Gen either. We been saying this about both Russia and China for a long time.
They couldn't manage a modern tank. LMAO😂😂
Heard that the SU-57 uses screws, not rivots which can loosen and are not as smooth.
If its metal its going to get knock out of the sky
Retired USAF AWACS radar operator here. Thanks for your service. I can confidently confirm that the USAF is far superior in every way compared to the russian air force. 😂 In fact the US Navy air power is superior compared to the russian air force. I yawn every time I hear the russians brag about the power of their pathetic air force.
Where are those F-16s?
It looks cool.
SU-57 only uses long range weapons from safety for good reason... Though I think they put most of the budget into the DCS module!!!
They still fulfill their main mission of parades and air shows though
4.5
More like protype 😂
Hot garbage? Wait did you think the T-50 from China show was a 57 like the others? Because the real one hate russia or not, is not a piece of garbage n thats coming from Air Force Vets not my mouth
Sending T50 is a calculated move so the real rcs won't be measured, to avoid the embarrassment.
this is a pretty good video. perhaps it would help if you were do show a map of the network of SAMs needed against su57 vs f35
Russian jets look good, i wonder if they have an Italian designer
The full Autonomy of 6 th gen US fighters will be developed by Tesla as soon as Tesla's auto pilot is fixed next year and after Tesla trials derivates of their autopilot for their spacecraft colonization project
The Su - 57 is fully operational. There are over 20 currently in service. It's 360 degree x band radar is state of the art.
15 of those are prototypes. Around 4-5 are in service. They don't have 360 degree radar
No that's true, it is a 380° degree one....😂
logs are a pain.
Russian corruption is at its 5 th generation (nor quite stealthy).
One Word: Vaporware
Yeah... who cares though?? Arent most of their buyers also our enemies?? Let our enemies buy this stuff...
Nice video. Between China and Russiac ; I would pick China as having military techno;ogies closer to USA and to the USA Allies then Russia.
@1:31..... so we have a concept of a plan..... just like TFG has the same for healthcare in America
Flying metal tennis court
More like 4.5 gen
Is it as bad as the f35 that congressman matt gaetz stated yesterday only 29 percent are fully capable of flight ?
What do You expect from an economy the size of Spain?
Ahhhh enfin je trouve quelqu'un qui est specialisé dedans qui avoue que le su-57 est un avion de 4 eme generation, non de 5 eme , il est comme leur t14 armata, une enOOOrme arnaque . Merci pour votre video .
When the Video Title is "Russia's 6th Generation Fighter Jet Is a MYTH, Here's Why" you know that @Wes O'Donnell has no idea what he is talking about . . .
