Apparently there was a shiny Mew event which I missed out on because my phone was stolen. I’d much rather have a shiny Mew event than a Victini, personally.
I suspect that the feature to join raids without invites will come hand-in-hand with a subscription service that allows you to access the feature, or perhaps the subscription will replace your need for raid passes for the given time you have it active and the ability to join without invites is just incentive to drive the subscription sales.
I just want the shinies to be back from holidays, haven't seen one in a while. I think they do that on purpose, so you might buy the ticket for a higher chance to get shinies. It happened before in the period before go fest.
