For example in many areas, the pandit ,purohits say that in barahmins ,marriage in same gotra is prohibited but if u r rajputs , then it is allowed. And people follow what purohits say , because they have regards n faith in purohits. So its important for purohits to hv proper knowledge of sanatani paramras first. So the things r deteriorating now.

Forget first cousins, in Hinduism one does not marry even if GOTRA is same. It indicates that if your Gotra is same, somewhere up the line you have a common lineage. Hinduism is so scientific, that they don't want a cousin type relationship between a couple, coming from several generations behind.

हिन्दू सनातन परम्परा में ५०-६० वर्ष पहले ब्राह्मण समाज में ६ गोत्र बचाकर विवाह होते थे, लेकिन वर्तमान समय में ४ गोत्र बचाकर विवाह होते हैं।
पाबंदी की जरूरत ही नहीं है, चाचा ताऊ मामा मौसी और बुआ के बच्चे आपस मे भाई बहन ही होते है । उनमें ऐसे विचार ही नही आते ।
साउथ इंडिया में मामा और बुआ के बच्चों मे शादियां होती हैं पर उत्तर भारत में इसे बहुत गलत समझा जाता है । जैसे पिता के भाई और माँ की बहन का बेटा भाई है उसी तरह पिता की बहन का बेटा या माँ के भाई का बेटा भी भाई ही तो हुआ
