I don't know why it's when people died people give them recognition, these are legends and should never be forgotten about, l think there should be a programme that highlights where dancehall is coming from and put these legends in the limelight. I feel it Ann it hurt me too, why would Macka say something like that and l think Macka was the first one to put up RIP. RIP Charmaine

I went back to listen to SISTA CHARMAINE and she was a great artist bad bad bad singer. She was a great lyricist the best. I wish I wasn't a baby when she was performing on stage because I would be there. RIP BEAUTIFUL LADY.
I briefly knew Charmaine from the Bronx around 2001 - 2002 era, she's a tough and rough cookie but she full of love, she's the type if she meet you for the first time and rate you, nobody cyaan say nuttin bout you, she authentic.
Am a leo same thing people try do me tear me down because we are gifted and they cant see thank god me no mek dem worry me Rip charmaine good friend to the end
I never knew you Ann because I got saved from dance before you girls bust, but I really appreciate your love for your sister. If there were 100 more people like you in the world, things would be better.
Why did the class Charmaine as that though? Was she aggressive? Was it the way she behaved when at the show? Was it her personality? I can tell Lady Ann appreciated her and accepted her for who she was. She is a good friend. She loved her.
She didn't have any papers, lived here for decades and really struggled financially, emotionally, psychologically and every "-ally" because of the way she was poorly treated and rejected by her peers in the industry and the fact that she was once at the top of her game, yet she is viewed as a nobody and got no recognition or respect for her contribution to our music and our culture; as someone who played such a pivotal role in laying the foundation and paving the way for *ALL* the females that entered the business with and after her. Her career became stagnant mainly because of her inability to travel outside of the country and also, the fact that many of her colleagues were jealous of her and disliked her for one reason or another and would exclude her, treating her as an outcast/the black sheep; by refusing to do shows with her, as was stated by Lady Ann. Now, because of all she went through, she suffered from depression; whether she acknowledged and addressed it or not, and naturally, she tried to find an escape, so she turned to alcohol, causing her to become an alcoholic; and a very fun, blunt, outspoken, don't come for me if I didn't send for you; because I'll check your ass and put you *RIGHT BACK IN YOUR LANE;* for I stay in mine, outgoing, life of the party, get this party started; one, that is! I live in the Bronx and I know her, and let me tell you; irrespective of the fact that sometimes you'll pass her in the early or wee hours of the night, staggering; on her way home, to the next party, a backyard barbecue or off to the next hole in the wall drinking spot, *CHARMAINE WAS LOVED AND RESPECTED BY OUR LOCALS; YOUNG AND OLD, ALIKE!!!!!* She was not a bad person, she was funny/jovial, very friendly and up for a good time at the drop of a hat! Charmaine would draw a crowd and start deejaying *WHEREVER* she was, whether she was asked to do so or if she was just in a vibe; be it on the sidewalk, in a corner store, in a restaurant, in a beauty supply store, in a pharmacy, in a hair salon or barbershop, in a hardware; *WHEREVER!!!!!* They gave that woman "basket to carry water", as we often say! I'm just happy and thankful to know that, despite all she went through, she had a true friend and confidant in Ann. Charmaine will be truly and sadly missed. I *CANNOT IMAGINE* summer 2021 and all the other impending ones without her!!!!! Those who know, knows. (Tearsssss). Rest in perfect peace, Legend. 🕊💔
I use to run into her at Peppers on White Plains rd in the Bronx, honestly she was a little off but me being a student of the music I always show her love and buy her a drink
