Now that's the way to spend an evening .. simple but relaxing campout. Great fire makes for a true bush setting. Thanks for another cracker of an adventure. Bushyboy Oz.
As always, another banger mate. Had to laugh, just as you mentioned soggy nachos, I was thinking, won't the nachos go soggy, lol. Awesome clean burning fire too. Can't beat those simple, awesome little over nighters. Keep em coming brutha, and see ya on the next one. 👍🤙
Probably unpopular opinion but my favourite is when the nachos go soggy 🤣 nice to see you kick your feet up for a more chill camp! After that text book fire start you might have the claim to best bush craft/tramping youtuber now. Keep it up!
Enjoyed a night at this very same spot earlier this year. A great way to chill out spending an evening relaxing under the stars while warmed by a good campfire.
Its really good to see you chillin out and not running!😁. Good to see a fast packin, ultralighter whip up a campfire with the bow drill method!! Awesome!! Ive started watching another fellow kiwi… adventure OT. She’s great too. Take care sir. NQU
Another great camp out mate. I have just done an overnighter with friends at a place called Towitta, North of Adelaide. A roaring campfire, good friends and an early morning pack up - the best.
You are not alone, I thought there would be a bag of chips in the packet too when you said it was nachos. I guess even soggy chips taste good if you are hungry though. Nice comfortable looking sleeping bag with the bigger foot space. Thanks for the adventure.
Love hearing a creek while camping, so nice sitting by campfire reading a good book, what were you reading? You don’t have to answer, may I ask about your tattoos?
Thanks TJ, it was a fun trip! I was reading the Red Pyramid, kane chronicles by Rick Riordan. You sure can! Any particular one you are interested in? Happy to talk about them all 😊
@@BackcountryKiwi It’s so good to take the time to read, the kids take a bag of books when we go camping. I’m keen to hear about all of them, no doubt you put a lot of thought into them😃
@@tleej26 Thanks TJ. The big one on my upper arm is inspired by a trip I did on the west coast, just displays my passion for the outdoors. The mountain range is mount pirongia where I did alot of my first adventures. And the one on my outer forearm is my Te Araroa Tattoo. Cheers!
Certainly a chiller trip compared to your recent ones, it's fascinating to see a fire lit like that any time I see it online, must take a good amount of practice to get consistent.
Cracker spot mate, Fire pit is always a welcome sight. Good effit on the bow, can't say I've tried that one. Don't think I will either. Too much effit for me
thank you brother! mind if i ask how you find spots in NZ where it’s cool to camp like this? I would love to be able to just sleep out in the bush like this under the stars by a fire and everything.
How long did it take on the bow drill to get enough smouldering going, Zeb? Impressive effort there. You're a master at the flint stone, too. Yeah, nice relaxing adventure for you this week. You've been pushing yourself hard as of late.
Cook looking ultalight backpack bro.😝🤘 nice seeing you use the twig stove which you can ignite with primitive fire starting methods Zeb! Bow drill or even Flint and Steel.😁👊💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🪨🪨🪨🪵🪵🪵🌏🌏🌏🥝🥝🥝🥝🥝😝🤘

What Woods are you using for a hearth and spindal Zeb? Good tip using Punkwood as a coal extender.😊👍💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥
The hearth board is cotton wood but the spindle is unknown but a harder wood.
Cheers mate

Where abouts is this if you don't mind me asking
Arthurs Pass National Park 🤙
you ever get mice chewing sleeping bag, bivy or gear?....thanks
Thankfully, no. I've been lucky in that regard.
I have a possum steal my food in my tent but no mice.
Where is this
Arthurs Pass - Hallelujah flats.
Cheers
Hey bro, what kind of camera do you?
This was shot on a Sony ZV1.

Forget the Bic?
Lol nah, got one for back up. Just enjoying the process.

Tarp camping in Australia takes balls of steel 😂
Snakes would definitely dampen the adventure.
Haha it would! Good thing NZ doesn't have any snakes!
Do bugs bite you at night?
Sometimes! If they are really bad I wear a bug net over my head

It was just over 1.5 minutes of actual drilling/bowing.
