Going Loco - Episode 25: The Brighton Belle Back on the Rails

A short history and running session replicating (with amendments) the trial runs of the 5-Bel Trusts new 4-Bel Brighton Belle. To recreate the test run a Class 73 "The Brighton Evening Argus" has been substituted.
Fact: During initial discussions the 5-Bel Trust looked at recreating the five car Brighton Belle set as a locomotive hauled 'Coach Set', however, it was decided instead to go for the "full monty" and upgrade the motors, electrical systems, bogies, and include modern operation devices needed for the 95mph main line services. This decision gave us a unique and authentic new Brighton Belle, however, among other things this has added to the cost and delays the 5-Bel project has encountered.

Pullman First Class Car 'Hazel' had been continuously used as a restaurant attached to the 'Black Bull' at Moulton, Yorks, since 1972. It took two enormous mobile cranes to perform the complex removal operation on 10 August 2012.
