Great talks. I’m obviously hype for ashes. I’m also curious on what T&L’s impact on the west will be as well.
Side note: I have face timed SawmanUK. He looks like a talking dog. This was not a compliment.

I'm gonna comment along with my experiences cause I am enjoying the discussion.
LOTRO - I tried this one on and off, but my longest commitment was during corona where they had massive server issues. Kept losing progress due the fact that their servers only save a few times per day. Housing was AMAZING though.
First MMO: My first MMO wasn't WoW or Runescape. I think it was either Puzzle Pirates, or Toontown Online. But then Runescape followed eventually, and then WoW. But my OLDEST MMO was actually a MUD. The Eternal City. It still has better features than any MMO I have ever played. Crazy what ditching graphics lets you do.
WoW today - I'd love to play WoW today, but Retail is a hard ask. I love story content, and so I want to experienced it from beginning to end. Cata doesn't bother me too much, but the fact that retail starts you so late has kept me away for years. Classic sort of "fixes" that, but doesn't have as much story content, and doesn't have the RP community (I love to RP) so I haven't felt up to it yet.
Showing face - I also used to not like showing my face. I show it now pretty regularly, but I used to never. Like hearing my own voice, or reading scripts naturally, it was a tough learned skill for me.
Conventions - I've gone to PAX East twice. One time was when I was a VRChat creator. I met a few other creators, but I also ended up in the background of a picture. I was standing right next to another creator without knowing it lol and only pointed it out once I saw it on twitter; back in the day.
Elder scrolls online - I loved ESO. This is one of my most played MMORPGs ever. From the voiced storylines to the RP community. Separate to something like Runescape, this was really my favorite. I played before any of the expansions, and the story still gave me hundreds of hours.
Ashes of Creation - This one really doesn't hold any appeal to me. Open world open PvP sounds..ridiculous. Doesn't matter what penalties you give. Look at any PvP focused MMO; like Archeage. They all die. The only PvP abundant games I've played that have lived were not MMOs, or were MUDs specifically. I would only play it if there was a "nobody can attack me" button. The opposite of flagging for PvP. Allowing someone to ruin my game experience (which is playing through storylines solo and with friends) is not an attractive concept to me.
Throne and Liberty - It looks bad. Even with the fixes. I will still try it, but I think it won't last much longer than Elyon.
Blue Protocol - Looks the same as Throne and Liberty to me. Probably fun, but probably bad at long-term retention. Will probably be a lot of fun, and will probably be on no one's minds 10 years from now. You know, this comment might not age well.
GTA5 - I feel like "MMOTPS" (I am spinning off MMPFPS) makes sense here?
Genshin Impact - I wish this was an MMORPG. It looks fun, but lacks the MMO element that I'd be hoping for.
Destiny 1/2 - These just felt like average shooters to me. I am not sure what the "MMO" aspects of this game are supposed to be. An MMOFPS is Planetside 2, and the scale difference between even Planetside 1 and Destiny 2 is insane.
FF14 - This is a game I plan on playing. I plan on waiting until at least the upcoming expac since I wanted to get a better PC before I played it. It's build now, 3/4ths of a year earlier than I expected lol. The story focus makes this sound like my deal. Thinking either the $60 for complete on release of dawntrail, or $30 later during a sale. It'll be one or the other.
Alright. That's the end of my word dump. Good video. Love hearing discussions about MMORPGs. Glad I have another channel to get that kind of content from. You've kept me nice and preoccupied while I sipped my morning tea and ate my breakfast. Have a good day.

Ive been subscriber for sawman for years now. Im so glad he ditched ESO it is a flawed and failing game that I no longer play. Would be nice to see Sawman try ff14 but i know it aint his type of MMO.

Been loving your content, you have a great video voice. Would love to see some deep dive videos on Combat in one game verses another ie. Wow vs FF14 or something like that. Anyway great video.

Oh wow, the gaming community usually is "don't preorder" but buy alpha keys, lol. I been following it ashes, but damn lol.

    • @embersarcade
      @embersarcade  ปีที่แล้ว

You have to remember that Sawman is a content creator, so the alpha key could pay for itself with a single well-performing video about Ashes.

@embersarcade I have followed him since his eso days, I know. I'm just messing with his own comment. Anyhow, I hope Aoc ends up being at least a good game.

btw i subscribed to u for making this video with Sawman. Also ff14 is my main video game too. I agree with ur take on ff14; it tends to kill the new player experience with A Realm Reboring lol. Also the MSQ is basically 90% solo player content which also destroys social aspects of ff14. 12:30 was a disappointment tho not bcuz u dont c urself going to fan conventions or w/e but cuz ur a covid cultist afraid of the boogeyman virus loll o well...Sawman's reason for not wanting to do a face reveal makes sense bcuz it helps him evade the cancel culture karens who may want to try to dox him for dissing ESO or whatever else that pissed his haters off. They r the ones who will rage and track u down to try n get u fired from ur job and erased from life simply bcuz u hold an opinion that isnt in line with theirs.

I’m not sure that I’d describe myself as a COVID cultist, but I recently contracted the virus for the second time and it was a bad experience.
I’m not overtly concerned about COVID, I was mostly making a joke.

EVE online is the real PVP MMO. Anyone that takes PVP serious in these casual match based MMO's are a joke.
