One of my favorite treats my grandmother made in the winter. Although, minus the cream. Still have fond memories of them.

This looks great. I love apples. I think I can make these for my vegan family members too with the ingredients. ❤😊

Around 2TBS or 25g added sugar per apple. No thx. A baked apple with warming spices but without sweetener would be a treat to my tastebuds 🙏🏽

Or save itself some cavities and 40 minutes and just eat the apple straight up.
Apple is my absolute favourite whole food and IMO all that extra stuff is kinda overkill. Just be grateful you’re lucky enough to eat an Apple.

Don’t think the video is advertising anyone eat this for breakfast on a constant basis. And everyone is commenting on the amount of sugar. That is merely a suggestion. To each his own. Use the sugar or don’t use the sugar. I’m a fitness nut but I’m not coming after anyone who wants to try a baked apple tailored to their taste.

Doesn’t it break down to two tablespoons of sugar per apple? Plus, what’s in the the apple cider. Probably less than your average pancake or cereal breakfast.

not only a lot of sugar but a cooking time of 55 minutes with constant basting? Not breakfast, for sure

The recipe link in the description is a completely different recipe! 🤷‍♀️ For BAKED apples! It uses more apples (7 total- 6 whole, 1 chopped), adds butter, cranberries, nuts, oats, orange zest and maple syrup, has no vanilla, and suggests ice cream topping instead of yogurt. It's literally the dessert version! The instructions are different, too. You keep the apple caps to cover the apples, start on the stovetop, and don't have to baste during baking.
See the change in ingredients below:
    • 7 large (about 6 oz each) Granny Smith apples
    • 6 tbps unsalted butter, softened
    • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
    • ⅓ cup dried cranberries, coarsely chopped
    • ⅓ cup coarsely chopped pecans, toasted
    • 3 tbps old-fashioned rolled oats
    • 1 tsp finely grated zest from 1 orange
    • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
    • pinch table salt
    • ⅓ cup maple syrup
    • ⅓ cup plus 2 tablespoons apple cider
Frankly this sounds better. You can reduce the sugar and syrup to suit your tastes, add a little nutmeg and maybe clove, still top it with yogurt, and it'd be tastier AND a tiny bit healthier. 👀

Cut out the brown sugar and cinnamon completely and instead, add crumbled cooked sausage, keeping the apple juice and vanilla component in the pan. Seems like that would be a better tasting breakfast than a sugared apple.

I don't think that's what people mean when they say "an apple a day keeps the doctor away"... More like "Doctor will come check your diabetes right now".
