These have got to be the greatest tutorials for Inkscape I have ever seen. The work is beautiful and your explanations are great. Inkscape has been a great tool for making my physics/computer documentation and presentations more understandable. Art has always been my weakest subject (when I was younger I had an instructor tell me that "it was a shame that you do not have the talents for art work that your mother has." My mother is an excellent artist with bronze, marble, clay, oils and every other medium I could name). The only way for me to draw a straight line was by math equations. These tutorials have given me hope that soon I can generate some of my own content using inkscape and these tutorials.
Nice effect with the gradients. I'm going to use this in my work as I'm creating some documentation that requires some diagrams of models and I want them to look professional.
+sithlordofVA Yeah this could work for a cone as well. Good to hear my tutorials inspire the exploration of new ideas. Thanks, as always, for following!
So I've been watching these tutorials at work the last 2 nights. Haven't had time to download, or work in yet, but im able to guess how your going to make these just by the thumbnail. If that doesn't say how good these are i don't know what will. Keep it man good job.
By, this is my favourite channel! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. The tuts are very easy to follow and I like that at the start of each you so the same thing with your view and control boxes, its like drill practice and now I do it too lol
I've just started to learn Inkscape, and I watched a lat of videos about it, but these videos are the best! I learn a lot from you, and I thank you for your work!
Nick, Thank you for making available your knowledge, short cuts, wisdom etc. I had problems visualizing the various layers of the vectors. You are very generous. Not many people are so generous. Gimp allows you to visually see the paths. When i got to the red blue pyramid the various vectors were overlapping so I could not access them. Grrr. Well when I finally finished the pyramid at 7 minutes. It was such a good feeling. Thanks much. Mahalo!!! vern
Thank you, glad to help. For future reference, if you ever need to select an object that is layered beneath another object, you can hold "alt" on the keyboard, then click. That should select the object beneath it.
Hi Nick, really enjoying all of your tutorials! One minor suggestion though. Since you've obviously done the design work already before you start recording your tutorials, I think it might be helpful to import the finished product into the workspace, and stick it somewhere out of the way in a corner so those of us (like me) who have a bit of a hard time following the thought process as you're building the design can constantly refer back to it, and go "ah, I see why he's doing that". Just a thought. Keep up the good work! :-)
+Bigalit Studios That's a good idea. I'll see if there's any way I can overlay it onto the screen without it taking up any crucial space. Thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah, might not be possible for larger designs, but I figure for the smaller stuff, the final design could probably just go in a corner somewhere fairly easily :-)
Wow ! Very informative. You have new version or what? Your interface looks nice ! Your knowedgle bank about inkscape is amazing i pm you my problem with program maby you can solve it...
+Łukasz Buśko Thanks. It's actually an older version of Inkscape, but I designed new icons for it and installed them. I wrote an article about it if you'd like to download and install them yourself. It's quite easy: blog.logosbynick.com/design/new-icons-for-inkscape/
All your designs send out a jaw-dropping phenomenon!! I can't help but wondering just how you came up with those amazing ideas

Sometimes creativity is can be learned over time with patience and practice. Good luck!

Nick, do you animate SVGs at all? And if so what tool would you recommend
Why didn't you make shadow effect ?
How do you get the different icons on the left side? I have Inkscape 0.48, but my icons look very different. Is it because I'm using Windows, perhaps?
