Just wanted to point out that Avenge the Star Children only works when a Tyranids Character is destroyed, not any unit, so the Lictor sacrifice play wouldn't work. You'd more likely be looking to sacrifice the lone op characters.
Such dour words at the start with GSC not getting a “real” detachment, as if every GSC player I’ve talked to hasn’t been wishing for ways to play more Tyranids in their army 😅
The reason the Fall back Strat exists is so your GSC unit can shoot while you are within 6'' In your movement you fall baclk, then GSC shoot, then your vanguand spend 1cp and charge back in.
"I feel bad for GSC players, because you have to run Tyranids..." bro, with one line of text they had 16 brand new units added to their army selection, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND this criticism. I didn't get it for Agents, nor for Brood Brothers, nor here. This is a GOOD thing for GSC players.
I have a vanguard onslaught Tyarnid army now I want to pick up some GSC to play some fluffy games, could be fun to do a Crusade using this for the last stage of consuming a planet could be super thematic.
Quick thing to note: The detachment is probably on par, a bit below, other GSC detachments. Getting effectively a universal +1 to hit within 9" of a Lictor, for example, is really useful on (say) a neophyte squad, especially if they can get sustained from the Enhancement and +1 to hit and wound from targeting a unit that killed a suicided PoM or WTP. Then consider Aberrants and Hybrid Metamorphs or Acolyte Hybrids in melee. Full to wound and +1 to hit for (effectively) being close to a tyranid lone op unit is *huge*, especially with access to fall back and charge and +1 to charge rolls. The detachment has play. Though not more than other codex detachments.
to be honest, it's going to be hard to beat what we have already... and our unit options are so limited at the moment I'm really just hoping next year we will get at least a dozen new units.
@@LynnMoore-x3l you could if not for the „excluding Aircraft, Broodlord and Genestealers units” clarified in the detachment. Sorry, these are unfortunately not available.
I agree. I think having two non-GSC players review this detachment is a little odd, and not terribly helpful. This sounds like a fun detachment if you have a few Mawlocs or other things lying around!
Garygoyles with their "Winged Swarm" ability would play very nice for giving out that +1 to hit. They fly up and within 6" of an enemy unit. The GSC stuff shoot that unit. They then shoot whatever their target is and then fly 6" back away.
Almost every single word these two goobers have said regarding this detachment or just wrong. Mawlocs and the winged tyrants are good. Having meaty monsters as your front line and the constant mortal wound dealing Mawlocs with the tunnel stratagem that heal off of chaff is a very good combination.
Would GSC get to cult ambush if they die to being eaten? If so it’s a great way of healing up and still having a big unit that has been whittled down but left on a model to get back into the game.
Curious to see if you could just hid a flying hive tyrant in cover with 2+ save and free command reroll for saves. Sustained hits really good on patriarch and genestealers with rerolls to wound. Likely dont put no overwatch on metamorphs, as they can surge move when overwatched.
Sorry to bother you guys, but do you have any thoughts on how you can make the Eldar Armoured Warhost work or are you waiting for the codex to review it?
no bother at all mate, we haven't got plans on reviewing the detachment this side of New Year's maybe in the future we can look at it but it's not something we have planned at the moment. However, A Wraithknight looks good at just an initial glance.

Note that your Tyranid units lose the benefits of synapse as the rule states that your army has to be Tyranid for it to apply.

Very likely, but I've got foolish hope. I'd say they can't make it any worse for us, but I don't want to jinx it.

Patriarch w/ 10x purestrains with +1 sustained and fishing for dev wounds with full wounds reroll, cool
You can’t take purestrain in this detachment
@znorman23 you can’t take tyranid genestealers, patriarch and purestrains are available. There’s even an enchantment just for them!

Resistance Tunnels is cool with Mawlocs to keep doing mortals repeatedly

As far as I understand cult ambush it triggers whenever a unit is destroyed so I think absolutely

"The final day is here" my dumb a$$, wait did they not do Tau?
I am interested in tyranids being back in the list for gsc but ni idea what the nids DO now. Also, complicated rules
ONLY VANGUARD?!
First tyranids wave onto planets sow can se it there *balance* alowing take any unit in diferent army with no restriktions bekomes a problem.
