But that has nothing to do with being part of the Scottish people. In fact, I find this self-obsession of the present-day supporters an embarrassment and a distraction from the grim reality that our national team is unfit to play in the final stages of the Euros or World Cup.Lets forget about the tartan circus and work on developing a team that everyone can back instead of navel- gazing about what amazing supporters we are.
I am German and not much of a supporter of football, since it has developed into a disgusting system of overpaying and overrating teams and single players. I don't like the fact that people who can hardly pay for their living spend their money on people who don't care as long as they carry their millions home. On the other hand I'm an avid supporter of people enjoying a massive football party - these times are hard. There is so much hate in the world. Anyway there are so many people in Germany from all over Europe having a great time together. For me this is what Europe stands for - Being united and have a good time with friends and friends-to-be. In this case football is just a side effect - nothing to care about too much.
