    In 93, I fell in love with the Seca II and the TDM 850. Never did get either..... Awesome bikes.

    I've had 3 3vd first gen tdm 850s...did 100k+ miles on each of them. 27 track days! Yes it is a crack'n good bike! Can do anything! Hunt sport bikes on track! Jump across the continent.
    A great big guy bike (6'9 285 lb)...makes it easy to maintain a blistering pace on back road. Dominant on brakes...due to wheelbase(note brake limits are set by spring rate of front springs...I have monster high rate to deal with my weight and aggression of racing for 20 years)
    Great drift bike...had a race takeoff racing "wet" on it! An absolute doodle! Allowed casual driftage and steering with the rear!..
    My only problem is not a big seller in the states...hard to find...I would like fi but I am fine with 360° crank.
    May be the greatest bike I've owned...owned about 60. Still have 7. It and yam are sr500 are only ones I've bought more than twice!...

    TDM’s are cracking bikes 👍 I’ve had two Mk1s, they’re the best looking of the bunch. Got a TDM900 now, a great bike also but doesn’t have the looks of the Mk1.

    I had the TDM850 with the 180 crank, what an awesome bike, changed a few things, bars, tires, rear shock, exhaust and brakes what an amazing machine was just one weakness really that was it would suffer a bit in really bad rain and sometimes missfire or lose power. Always wanted to get a JMC raer swinger to carry a wider section rear wheel and tire, and upgrade the front yolks to carry better forks ..... i truly think Yamaha missed a trick with this awesome machine.

    What is the RPM in top gear at 65 or 70 MPH? How is the pwer band? Torquey and broad or? Any known issues with these? thx

    • @AshMertVlogs
      @AshMertVlogs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually cant remember what rpm it was at in top gear, but it wasnt anywhere near screaming, there pretty torquey from what i remember mate, only issue i had was with the carbs leaking fuel, changed the float needles and it was fine after that

    Really useful video, thanks! What do you think of it as a first bike for a new rider?

    • @AshMertVlogs
      @AshMertVlogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, for a new rider.. id say there abit on the heavy side for pushing and slow manoeuvres, but there under powered for a 850cc with a good amount of low end torque so id say there fairly good for a new rider and they handle really well

      @@AshMertVlogs Awesome, thanks! I'm 193cm so I need a big bike. Knowing that it's not too aggressive, it seems ideal for me

    • @michaelmorley331
      @michaelmorley331 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great! Very tractable engine ..will pull top gear from 1600 rpm.
      Great handling! Dominant on brakes.
      May seem too tall but most people do not adjust to their needs. If not 6'9 285 lbs....drop front 20-30 mm. Run on soft spring in back...soften rear preload
