- Here im using the Roland MX-1 digital mixer with analog gear, MFB 522 for drums and the rare Russian analog poly synth Tom 1501. The keyboard doesnt have any sequencing functions, memory or effects, so I`m animating the sound entirely with the MX-1. In order to have sustained sounds, I stick the keys with tape or just play them by hands. The slicing / pitching pattern in MX-1 was programmed before shooting the video. I didn`t programmed it during the session, just because I got that groove going, before i press record. I liked it so much and I decided to keep it for the video. I hope you like it too

I use lead sinker weights from my saltwater tacklebox.
easier to move around.
gotta get the big ones and smush them to fit size of keys , then put rubber no-skid stuff .
The moment I saw tape the like button was immediately pressed.

Maybe it will be a surprise, but all TOMs 1501 have an input for - SUSTAIN PEDAL
(such thing for holding chords)... ;)
P.S. Also you can be moded this pedal, or sustain input of the synth and to add the switch "holding off/on" (it's very simple mod)

but in case anyone actually wonders, it's called Masking Tape & it's used to paint clean lines... & then easily pull off without leaving residue.

So the MX-1 which is a mixer.. part of its on board effects is pitch modulation? fuck... this thing is a beast.... so you can basically run several very basic sound sources into diff channels and with the step sequencery do everything within the mixer... brings new levels to the saying "playing the mixer"
