10.72 to 11.19 | What Is Happening To Sha'Carri Richardson ?

- On April 10,2021 in Miramar Florida the world witnessed 21 year old Sha’ccari Richardson blowing away a stellar field of Athletes to record 10.72 seconds in her season opening meet in the southern state. This time 10.72 became the fastest season opener in history, and pushed her to being the 6th fastest woman in history. 29 days later she headed to the USATF golden games, her second meet of the season where she made 10.74 look like a walk in the park in the prelims, and then destroyed everyone in the final in a time of 10.77 seconds. That was three consecutive 10.7 runs something nobody had seen since Elaine Thompson in her peak 2016 form.

if you've ever ran track (100m), you know 10.72 iz a long way from 11.19; with no injuries or bad starts. i've never seen a runner go from running multiple 10.7's and 10.8's to running consistent 11's without bad starts or injuries.
🤔🤔🤔
you must be very new to track and Sha'carri, she did the same thing in 2019 after she ran 10.75 at NCAAs
Well if you noticed when she couldn’t run in the Olympics because of the weed controversy she then went hollywood basically being in commercials and all that extra and that was her month off so now that she is back of course she’s not gonna be in her best shape after a month off do yall not get that?
I think she backed once she realized she couldn't win..... I think 10.9-11.0 was possible 🤔 but we'll never know.... Hopefully she comes to full form and challenge the best.
The weed thing is her story. What substance did she actually used?
She spends more time on social media than how she actually train, that's her problem
Running 10.70s back to back to open the season sounds like hard work to me . Idk , how fast can you run the 100m ?

Man look…. Those in Germany, Mexico, China and the Philippines where most of the HGH and designer steroids are created are literally a decade ahead of the technology used to catch them. Basically most athletes in all sports that get paid to perform take them. What’s really tripping me out is the abundance for women taking PEDs now including the Jamaicans! What? She has to pass multiple random test a year. It doesn't matter if you're in international competition or not. They call you with 1hrs notice and you have to give a urine or blood sample.
What's happening! Possible no ped's in her system, that's probably what is happening, just saying. The whole smoking weed thing is possible a cover up for a ped detection in her system. Makes more sense to take 3 month ban VS 4 year band.

I think she was caught using PEDs and they used weed as a cover up for the ban. Her times are remarkably slower and it would be understandable. She is not an elite runner like some would make her out to be, she should have stayed in school and got that education then turned pro.
Thats a ridiculous statement now you are accusing the track officials of a cover up absolute stupidity.
There is talk of weed being a masking agent for PEDs. I was watching some Ben Johnson documentaries over the w/e where when he was off the PEDs his performance in the top track meets were pretty dismal too.

Praying has nothing to do with winning races. Talent + hard work and coaching = success
Not with a loud mouth like that
I agree… because there’s no way you’re going to go from running a 10.74, down to an 11.14 second run ending up in ninth place in the 100m, without there even being something physically, or mentally wrong.

I’m wondering if that “weed positive” was a cover-up for an actual PED positive [with USATF giving her that option] as she’s a completely different runner now.
I truly believe that was the case.
The weed was a cover up for the real drugs.
🤣🤣🤣OMG what a debacle, she's really acting like mentally and physically she's out of it, in any case smoking isn't good for lungs.
I would not doubt it.

@@YNRANG - the evidence is in her 9th place finish in the Prefontaine classic. The evidence is in her 11.1-second 100m performances since July. Which makes all her sub 11-second 100m times, now suspect.
"She was unbeaten in the half-lap prior to that run" - because she'd literally never raced against the world's best in that event!
Sha'Carri's clearly talented but not a natural 200m runner and by that I mean a 10.72s 100m sprinter that has never broken 22s in the 200m is NOT a factor in the event on the world stage, and yet certain people keep talking about her like she's expected to win 200m races against other athletes who've consistently & comfortably run sub 22s. Non-track fans especially (and some track fans) seem to struggle with the idea that not every good to great 100m sprinter will automatically be as good in the 200m as they tend to lump both races together. Asafa Powell & Maurice Greene were excellent 100m sprinters who for the most part were never threats in the 200m!
As mentioned, the 100m is clearly her stronger event, but even in that event, I believe she's lost most if not all of her races against other sub 10.8s sprinters, so those in the media (US especially - which will never happen) need to do a better job in providing this much needed context to their viewers/readers/listeners! Also, her start/first 30m is surprisingly sub-par for someone of her diminutive stature and has been for a while even when she was running 10.7s!

Interesting....
Sha'Carri needs a new TEAM!! Agent, manager, coach...and get rid of her inner circle. They are NOT having any positive effect on her outlook or performances. What part does Justin Gatlin play in her progress? She's wasted two seasons already. You can argue that Teahna Daniels has had a better post-collegiate career so far. She6's made the last World and Olympic teams...
The coach that coachs ETH
Would make her a medal winning runner
Without PEDs
She had a different coach in 2019 and as you heard from the video. It was the same result.
And she finished 4th at the Olympics against a stacked field. It’s sad to see the spotlight on Sha’carri, when you have other young athletes who’ve already achieved so much more like Athing Mu who 2 Gold Medals and Sydney who also won 2 Gold medals and set a WR.
They r encouraging her slackness and unprofessional behavior 🤮🦠
No she needals to stop smoking crap
Her peaking phase was disrupted by the disqualification. She couldn’t bounce back after that. Better luck next season. Everyone’s time will decline but with her not competing during her “moment”, her seasonal peaking declined faster.
Also, she is grieving her mother's death. It's hard to train with that depression.
Arguing with strangers on social media is draining her nervous energy.
Maybe she should redirect that energy towards training.
Her behaviour is self destructive.
She should have an agency that deals with her social media, like other sports celebrities. That creates a shield between the athlete and general public so that she can focus on her sport.
Is she really that good? Could she be the Milli Vanilli of track and field?
No she's very talented but mentally weak.

That weed scandle and all of that might be getting her harrassed in her personal life, and who knows what other bullshit she deals with that is currently draining confidence. I saw the same, the confidence was just not there even from the starting line.

Shacarri Richardson is fast, but Elaine Thompson-Herah is the fastest woman in the world currently. We need to have realistic expectations.

You're right it's obvious
And I think most of the athletes knew what was up . That’s why Shelly Ann made that face while walking past after the race.
Yea I think she gets anexity and when this happen her mind is racing faster than her feet. She should speak to a sports physiologist if she wants to complete at the top level
Her fast times were PED driven. We are now seeing her run as fast as her natural abilities can carry her. She is just another Ben Johnson. He ran a 9.79-second 100m, and got caught. After his suspension and running clean, he never broke 10-seconds in the 100m ever again. Same for Sha'Can't, she is naturally a 11.1-second 100m sprinter, and not a 10.7-second 100m sprinter.
The drugs were out
Come on people use your brain. She was using performance-enhancing drugs, blamed her situation on weed to cover it up because she knew it was going to be discovered. Not that hard to figure out.
She was on drugs whenever she ran sub 10, not accusing her but that could be the possibility.
Sub 11
If a woman can run a sub 10, that would be something truly special
She never ran sub 10 ....no female ever ran tht

I disagree with the premise of this video. I do not believe Richardson recent poor form is due to her inability to run against top competition. I suspect after being left out of the US Olympics team her training intensity fell off, while most of her competitors benefited from the tough Olympic environment, so they are battle harden and ready. She has to work herself back to her best form which may not happen this season. I expect a better showing from her next season once she does not have any unexpected setbacks (injuries, personal matter drawing her away from the track, etc.)
Richardson did not start running track this year, she has been running for years. So, it is safe to assume during her junior years she would have faced top competition and dealt with it. I reiterate the drop in form is a training issue and she will correct it. The following are some of her achievements at the junior level. If she had a fear of top competition, I doubt she would have been able to achieve all the following accolades.

@@poohbita_88 that track was slow
I’m not a fan of hers but I’m a fan of sports. Honestly I believe she’ll come back. Contrary to some people saying saying she should bow out of events and focus on next year. I think what’s left of this years international events she should go for with the mindset of ‘ok I’m here now, let me learn how it’s done internationally’. She’ll be fine as an athlete in general. But she’ll want to dedicate a lot more time to her training and persona next season for her to place top 3
I notice a lot of people talking about PEDs. But the top three finishers are automatically tested, and all athletes are subject to random drug testing. So, it is much harder to use PEDs now than it was back in the 1980s when athletes knew in advance when they would be tested. Sha'carri will figure it out and return to form. Unfortunately, when that day comes it will be more trash talk from Sha'carri and her supporters like if nothing happened before.
PEDs, point blank
@@jolwaterman you people kill me with your baseless opinions. Unless you have her positive test results in your hand then please shut up with the nonsense!
@@Emmanuel7lion - since no one who has those positive test results will publish them, otherwise they would have already been published, we can go by past performances of sprinters who were busted for PEDs, then came after their suspensions.
Ben Johnson is an obvious candidate, he ran an unheard of 9.79-second 100m in 1988. He got busted, then once he served his suspension and began running clean, he couldn't break 10-seconds, which is probably as fast as his natural talent takes him. But it was no 9.79-seconds.
Sha'Can't was running 10.7s, and 10.8-second 100m in June and July, she got suspended in July for "weed". Now August and September, she can't break 11.1-seconds in the 100m.
By way of comparison, Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce took almost 2 years off having a baby, yet she is back running 10.8-second 100m at will. Elaine Thompson-Herah missed many months of training during the past 5 years due an achilles tendon injury, now she is injury free and running 10.8-second 100m at will. Allyson Felix took time out from her training to have a baby for nearly two years, yet she is back to being able to compete and win gold in her 5th Olympics. All those women are much older than Sha'Can't, yet they are able to return to these fast times after delays in their training, because that is where their natural talent takes them. The 11.1-second 100m times represents Sha'Can't's natural talents, and every 100m time she ran lower than that is now suspect.
If you have another explanation as to why Sha'Can't's 100m times have collapsed so spectacularly in just 2 months, please enlighten us.

She was on a roll and had her ban not happened she may have stayed consistent, but one can't outrule the role played by personal issues. Her season was interrupted and that may have affected her performance. While I get that the public doesn't warm to arrogance, the unrestrained spite and hate I've seen online towards an athlete who very much cares for her public image can't be helping either.
Personally I'm sick and tired of the hot and cold attitude of fans, bigging her up when she's winning and then trashing her when she's down, coz believe me, if she'd won that race all of ya'll wouldn't be here behaving as though you're PED experts because you watched a blooming video. There's word for this, bullying, and it's amazing how many people don't recognise when they're guilty of it themselves
"There's word for this, bullying" - no, the word is "fraud". That is the "fraud" Sha'Can't, Nike, Dennis Mitchell and the rest of her team are attempting to foist on the rest of the world.
Sha'Can't top end sPEeD, when she was running sub 11-second 100m races is not natural.
If an athlete is truly capable of running a sub 11-second 100m, they can bounce back from injury or a hiatus in training and run sub 11-second 100m races with no problems. For example, Shelley Ann Fraser-Pryce and Allyson Felix, took nearly 2 years off from training to have a baby, yet they are back running their pre-baby times. Elaine Thompson-Herah was off for many months at a time during the past 5 years, dealing with an achilles injury, yet now injury free, she is tearing up the track. Dina Asher-Smith had a severe hamstring injury right before the Olympics, so she couldn't perform at her best during the Olympics. Now that her hamstring is better, she is right back to running her sub 11-second times from before her injury.
Sha'Can't is 21 y/o and therefore younger than the women I mentioned, she hasn't been injured, she claims she was training during the Olympics which she missed, yet all of a sudden, she can't even break 11.1-seconds in the 100m. Why? Because, she is a drugs cheat and a fraud.

I really hope we don't start seeing special treatment for high profile athletes that suffer from performance anxiety. I get being sympathetic to them but the mental game is just as important as the physical training. There are many athletes who have had to overcome these issues with yoga, meditation, therapy, religion, whatever.
When Simone Biles and Naomi Osaka choked because of their ill prepared mental-game, there has been a lot of fanfare towards giving them special accommodations to deal with their stress, like giving them private rooms, a break from interacting with media, etc. There was an uproar on social media over Richardson's disqualification as if she should be given an exemption. This is unfair to other athletes who have done the work to deal with the stress of competition and have that as a strong point when competing with someone like Richardson who might have better physical genetics. What bothers me even more is that many people can name Biles, Richardson and Osaka, but can they name the woman who actually took gold for the US woman's gymnastics? How many people can name the athletes who defeated Osaka recently?

@L_O_W_K_E_Y-G Flo Jo had a lot more class which started with humility Sha’Carri Richardson is the exact opposite of class
She need to humble herself,so she can realise she is some Demi God, she must accept that there are lots she needs to learn in life and to much ego will prevent you from learning these valuable lessons she will need, the big mouth think she is the greatest of all times
The track in italy is very slow. I think the meeting record is 10.98 by Fraser Pryce so that says it all. Sha' carri is probably in 10.9 shape right now on a decent track.
@johnny lee torres Mike Tyson said he smoked weed before some fights, which he won. Micheal Phelps smoked it also. 2 Top athletes.
@@keithc8108 I guarantee they have enough talent that the weed doesn't fuck them up enough to over come it, but i guarantee it didn't raise their aggression, make them laser focused, make them hyper aware or any other advantage. Weed causes delay of reactions and relaxation. Something a athelete in competition will not need. If they have issues with stress outside of training or can't calm down, then yes i see how weed can help that part out. But in performing, it's not going to assist.
@@keithc8108 Michael Phelps smoked weed out of competition...Alot of track and field athletes smoke weed....Hell a lot of athletes period smoke weed, they just know not to do it in that competition window....
Exactly!!!
I see lots of ppl complaining about her attitude, and hood mentality, but ppl needs to remember she is 21, and lots can happen in a few years, she was not prepared to be world famous mentally, but happened anyway because of it. Mostly it is embarrassed black ppl who want gabby in the spotlight representation of black women not shacarri until she learns humility and matures some. I'm going to continue to support her until she utterly destroys herself because she is at a crossroads and all this hate can be used as motivation if she is coached right and not let her ego get in the way
She peaked too soon
She is simple outclass
Man let her light that ⛽ back up so that she can get back to 🏃🏾♀️💨 the competition
Masking agent! Weed🤫😂🤣🤣🤣
There ain't no gas 🤣🤣

@@lisabell1058 she'll be back watch
She literally took time off from training since she wasn’t competing and Jamaicans are like “ ShE CAnT rUN “ . They have their champion but they still can’t stop watching her
This is all her doing to herself
With all the unjustified verbal abused from the Jamaican t&f fans was overwhelming to her ,mom passin, ,a level of sensitivity was nonexistent for her, this can break ones spirit = lost of power and energy , fighting back and forth on social media, etc, She was doin everything but what she was supposed to be doin like training, resting, sleepin, focusing,,she knows what she has to do ,Shacarri will be back,u just don't lose your ability to run overnight, world championship here she comes.
Going through it! She'll come back out flaming the track up!
Not without doping
@@madnesitymix7293 she will be ok! She will come back out flaming!!
She need dope
More like smoke after water is thrown onto flame
Jamaica all the way
I think her confidence is shattered.
She will be back. Just a matter of time
No she won't!!!
Yes ,she will be at the back of the pack.
@@timmckee6247 she will just be honest
@@yungchriz I am being honest, she's not winning another race against the elite sprinters...
She ran against the apprentice, those girls are babies .Do you and the others know that Jamaica may be poor but we are very clean and love to cook our earth food that makes us very strong . Tell her to start buying cooked meals at our Jamaica's restaurants .She need to stop eating Mcdonalds.
Lol did he just say mind set? 🤣🤣
She stop juicing we al know that, call it what you want, but that was no weed they caught in her system. That girl was flying.
2 things. 1) The drug she concealed by the ganja wore out. 2) She never had the mental strength with big races.
DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS some thing smelling fishy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 masking agent weed!🤣🤣🤣🤣
i believe in her. she has something special.
I believe in the tooth fairy.
🤣
She has performance enhancing drugs! rather she did...
@@robocop207 made ya look

We will never see her.. only last place she will finish....😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆
That drug found to disqualify her from the Olympics made the difference.
Once she is back on the juice she will be ok....just too risky at the moment...
Ever since she was told to stop smoking weed. Weed was boosting the energy but now she can't keep up.
Everyone is hinting PED's. Do they test before certain meets and not others? Could this explain the dip?
There is a prime example of what being in the spot light can do to you mentally, and how it can effect your performance. Look at Osaka. It's a struggle, and she was beat up for it. Simone, same thing, ripped apart. So I see why ShaCarri has the attitude she has, and why she puts up a facade of being mentally strong and confident.
I honestly thinks she needs to clipnthe nails 💅🏽 and get focused. It's hard to imagine getting a good start pushing off with you hands with 2-3 inch nails.
The 200m race was disappointing because besides the ‘slower’ Namibian in 5th, the rest of the field were 23/24 second locals from Holland and Belgium. Even more disappointing was that 2nd place in the subsequent 100m because that is her pet event and no one there is even a sub 11.1s runner so it’s not to say Sha’carri should have been cowed. She needs to shut it down for the season (online as well) and prep properly for next season.
That’s not true. The people who beat her are sub 22 runners
@@mssha1980 yes certainly the ppl who predictably beat her - I was highlighting the fact that except for Masilingi, Sha’carri didn’t beat anyone of note.
Nothing physical is wrong with ShaCarri. She got distracted after not being able to run in the Olympics. Also, remember she's young and had just lost her mother. We've seen how fast she is. She just needs to stop listening to and responding to critics, refocus, and she'll be fine next season.
Distractions can do that to you. It's cool to be cocky when your on top. But you have to work hard to make sure you don't fail.
Let's not forget that you also have mid 30 year old Jamaican women running their fastest times ever this year. Drugs are just part of sports and life in general.
Yea people don’t realize that northern have ever ran as fast before
My guess is Richardson not training properly, something wrong with her mind ?
