That was Aron Ralston's misadventure outside Moab, UT. He writes of his ordeal in "Between a Rock and a Hard Place," which was dramatized by James Franco in "127 Hours." Harrowing tale of suffering & survival, for sure. But the chances of a chock stone moving in a slot canyon by human activity has got to be one in a trillion chances.

When coming back up Hole in the Rock Road to Escalante you stopped at some Hoo Doos which is really called Devils Garden. On your way to Peek a Poo slot you drove past Big Horn Slot Canyon which is as beautiful, and maybe more color.
That is so cool! So different from what we are use to here in New England. It’s impossible to watch your mom without smiling. She seems like the type of person that would get a case of the giggles going through plane turbulence 😆. Good for her. Thanks for the video. I hope you are having an awesome holiday season!

I remember climbing that entrance when it was wet, a large puddle beneath it. Took about 20 minutes to four of us. :-)

Cool seeing places I've visited while on my holidays in the US, stay with family in utah and I love it there. The freemont Indian settlement is well worth checking out, some nice little hikes and plenty of ancient artwork in the rocks from a tribe long gone..

That looks like a blast. Utah is awesome, you're a doll ( and your mom is great!) I think camper could've done that. Remember to check the weather when in any canyons. They would be deadly if caught with no escape.You're having so much fun. I'm jealous, stay safe

This canyon is amazing!! Wonderful! MAGICAL! I experienced something similar in Cappadochia and in Lybia.
If anyone decides to do this canyon be aware that dirt road in requires 4x4 very bumpy and long. I think it's 17 miles in. You do not want to get stuck out there cell coverage isn't good and it's very remote. Take more water than you plan use.
You do not need 4x4 during good weather. During bad weather a 4x4 may not be enough. It is a very rough road.
If anyone is just now seeing this, I drove the long road in my Prius during good weather, wasn’t too bad but took almost an hour to get out there from Escalante. Take this with a grain of salt because dirt road conditions change rapidly if not maintained often.

This reminds me of a section of the Appalachian Trail, in Maine I believe, where the rocks are very large, very rugged and close-packed. Anyway, this kind of feature is interesting on several levels: a hiking challenge, a geological curiosity, experiencing the beauty of nature, and as a sensual experience - feeling the rocks, that is or the rocks squeezing you.
Us old timers try to stay in shape just to be able to safely negotiate a slot canyon like this! Kudos to your mother for inspiring us all!

I did this June 2020. It was so amazing. There were fires happening south of Escalante. The smoke covered the sun and gave area a strange red glow and ash rained on us the entire time.

You certainly find a lot of beautiful places in your travels. I have never seen this one before and I lived in the SW for many years. Hiked most of AZ, NM, NV, some of UT and of course CA. But not this one. I need to go soon before COVID ends so there won't be so many ppl. Thanks for sharing!

Love Spooky & Peek! I've taken my 4 dogs through that a couple times. Two of them are 70 lbs so it was a little challenging the first time, but they are slot canyon pros at this point. I do just want to note, it is NOT a one way trail, I have always taken it in reverse. Going up Spooky and then down Peek a boo is way preferable as long as you are comfortable lifting yourself up Spooky. It is up to your discretion which direction you take, but you must be willing to back track to allow passing always. It's even more fun when the canyon has leftover rain water in spring! Definitely check out Ding & Dang Slot canyons if you enjoy these. :)

Slot canyons in general are on my top 5 bucket list. I think I will tackle different slot canyons though since those look too narrow and challenging overall. Great video, wonderful editing, thanks for posting this rarely seen up-close footage of such a stunningly beautiful slot canyon as well as guidance of how to tackle it. Oh and forgive me for stating the obvious but seriously you are ABSOLUTELY 100% STUNNING looking head to toe. As a bonus you are one of those women who look gorgeous with or without makeup.

Hi Nikki! Loved the video! We live in northern Utah and have been to Escalante many times but haven't done this hike. It was cool how you brought you mama! I wish my mother was still alive to show her this. But why people right on these treasures...I hate it. We went to Zion in October and hiked the narrows and the walls...so bad. Other slot canyons the same. Anyway, really enjoyed the video and gave you a follow.

I’m from Utah and love the slots. They are like natures funhouse. The scary part is when you encounter water in them and don’t know how deep it is. Hahaha. I have heard of these slots and know many that have been there but never tried it myself. Looks like I have a new bucket list item. 👍🏼👍🏼

It was! Sounds great! Be careful if you do and keep an eye on the weather, can end up very very dangerous, QUICK!
Took my kids to peek-a-boo when they were little, youngest was 4 and they had a blast. You can do up and back if you just slide out on your rear.
We have a cool smaller version of the Utah Slot Canyons in Las Cruces, NM next to the Rio Grande river. Titled the same. Worth looking at if passing through. Love your mentality, life style, and content. Thank you.

I love the fact that your mom is up to adventures. You inspire me to go out and adventure life. You definetly can't be claustrophobic walking through the hike. What do you do with camper when your on a hike?
This hike was before I met camper, otherwise I just don’t do hikes where dogs are not allowed anymore. Camper is now my number 1!:-)

So cool, I absolutely love this place. I've been there in 2019 and yes, the entry into peek-a-boo is not the easiest. Unfortunately I had to turn around in spooky canyon where you guys had to climb down. I was not sure if I could make it through the whole canyon since my belly is not the smallest one. So I was not sure if I could climb up again on my own if I had to with nobody around me. So I turned around and entered Spooky canyon from the other side. And, guess what, indeed I wasn't able to squeeze myself through the narrowest part. I was quite happy that I didn't took the risk.
I really should take some action on this point ;-)

Nikki! Kebab Utah if you’re near by is an excellent town to get to know. I highly recommend spending time there. The hikes and such are so nice.
Also Bryce Canyon is the most understated NP I’ve every been to.

I am very claustrophobic so no way I could do this. Also my booty would not fit. Anxious watching some if it But glad you posted so that I could watch and “explore” places I will never get to see in person
