Thank you, ma'am. That was very clear and informative. I really appreciate it. Your intonation and pace were very professional. You did say that not all states have accredited Diploma courses in Community Services. Could you please advise whether NSW has accredited Diploma of Community Services courses? Thank you so much, ma'am.
@@paularuiz5502 Unfortunately, no. If you look at the skilled migration list, the community worker profession isn't even eligible for the 485 visa. The only "advantage" is that you'll get a positive skill assessment as soon as you graduate because you studied at a school with ACWA accreditation. But you can achieve that even with a two-year diploma. And with that, you'd be eligible to express your interest for PR, but you'll need to renew for another visa until you're called for PR.
@@chickyasmr1444 Hello, I don't think Community Services is a good option for obtaining PR at all. If you complete both courses at a non-accredited school, you'll spend more time and money and still need one year of full-time experience to do the skill assessment, even with the 485 visa. From my own experience, it’s very difficult to find a job with the title of Community Worker, especially full-time. It is not a profession in high demand because there are many volunteers working in community centres. If you have the money to pay for a bachelor’s degree, I suggest you only do the diploma at a school with ACWA accreditation (you will already be eligible for PR upon completion, and since you won't have the 485 visa, you will need to apply for another student visa afterward). Or, if you like the field, switch the bachelor’s degree to Social Work. It is a clearer profession than Community Services, which is very broad. However, you will need experience in the area and may even need to move to a regional area to have better chances. Good luck

Hi Traci, thanks for these informative videos. I have a question about Research and Development Manager occupation. For Skill Assessment, the applicant has to submit his/her curriculum vitae (CV). The question is, under the work experience section, do we have to give details of projects that he/she has managed in the company? Similarly, do we have to mention research publications e.g., published research papers in international journals, news articles, reports etc.?
Hi Tracy, Recently I got a negative skill assessment as a community worker. I have my diploma from Scotts college which was provisionally accredited. However, ACWA now asked me to gain a minimum of 3 months of job experience as a community worker to be eligible for positive skill assessment. But currently, I am working as a disability support worker. will it be counted as a community worker job experience? Thanks

Hi Tracy! I believe studying in a non accredited course in Diploma of community service would require you to take a minimum of 1 year relevant experience to get a positive skill assessment, however diploma of community service is not eligible for a temporary graduate visa so how do we have a relevant working experience? Is it possible to take the 407 training visa? And once you have a relevant experience you can now apply for positive skill assessment and eventually apply for 190 visa?
I suggest that you change immediately to an accredited course. I made a huge mistake studying in a non-accredited one, but I got lucky because I could apply for the 485 visa this year before the financial year-end. But struggling to get a job in community services sector 😢

With one year of full-time work, they recognize this experience, and it substitutes for the qualification for the profession of "individual support." What if the school is tagged as 'provisionally accredited' in the ACWA website?
