Why are so many people, who claim to have no interest in either team, so salty about Alabama winning? I wonder does it have anything to do with winning SEC championship and beating the 3rd rank basketball team on the same day? Or the fact on the night QB Bryce Young won Heisman, we won a close game to give Bama fans even more to celebrate?...

That was a good no call. Ball was above rim, but NOT in the cylinder. In other words, the ball was not gonna go in regardless.
Someone posted a different angle on twitter earlier. The ball was a good foot in front of the rim so it wasn’t even close. The initial angle made it look closer than it was. Houston broke shit for no reason. Props to Shead for helping clean up the mess they made though.

could someone explain to me the modern phenomena of dribbling the clock out... when Losing?!? This is common BB at all levels these days, and it's Baffling!

If you miss early, the other team has the opportunity to grow their lead. If you make early, the other team has the option for last shot.
Having the last shot is most advantageous because it solely relies on your ability to score, versus scoring and then immediately stopping your opponent from scoring.
Play it in slow motion and you’ll see it was clean
CLEARLY over and above the cylinder. Not by much but it doesn’t have to be the whole ball. To me the question is if the ball was not blocked would it have touched the rim. “Any part of the ball over any part of the rim”. It would have grazed it.
Given the refs knew it’s reviewable only if there is a whistle on the floor the default should have been to whistle and then review. Tough call and whistle either way. In a hostile environment making that call with no time left needs a Jim Burr or Ed Hightower.
Bush move by ‘Bama coach at the end too, especially considering he could have been teed up late in the 2nd half but refs let it slide.
It was nowhere near the rim....it was way off short to the right facing the rim.
The right call was the no call because there was nothing to call. Bama won. Get over it.
The ball wasn’t even close to being over the hoop, it was literally a foot in front of it. The refs probably saw that initially and that’s why they called it correctly.

Its a shame that half of you in the comments dont know what goal tending is. It doesn’t have to be touching the rim, it could also be going downward and the ball was most definitely going downward when blocked.

Final comment from me. I don't like to use the term karma but, CNO said after the game, he got the Technical foul for complaining about Houston not getting called for over the back rebounds, but the refs kept calling fouls on us. Basically, this game should not have been this close. The refs allowed them to hang around. So, it's over. It's a win for us. About time we get some breaks our way. RTR!
the idea that refs purposefully help one team or the other is and has been the plague of sports. if one team commits more fouls guess what the other team will shoot more free throws. sure the refs will miss some calls, but theyre human and they miss calls for both teams. refs dont intentionally help one team. thats a losers mentality to say "well we lost because of the refs". you lost because you committed more fouls. period
It was absolutely goaltending at the end but if that offensive rebounding maching Roberts just makes 2 more of his free throws (1-6) Houston wins. Alabama is a really good team but Houston is the better team and they have the better coach.

Alabama didn't have the crooked SEC refs at Memphis.....got their butts handed to them by an unranked team. 12 foul shots compared to 31 in the Houston game.

I had to rewatch that play three or four times before I can tell … it looks like the ball bounced off the rim and was not inside of the cylinder …. Then Davis knocked it away …. I can see why Houston thought it may have still been inside the cylinder…because it happened so quick…. The ball did not bounce straight up it bounced outwards…. Great game ….
The angle they had from the bench made it look clear but from the other side mid court you could see that the ball was about a foot in front of the rim, wasn’t even close. Great no call. The refs may have seen it like that live and that’s why they didn’t review it.

I mean it's even easy to gauge from real time in the game bc Davis hit it after the 2nd tip so fast. The timing was so off from the previous bounces you knew it was GT. The refs didnt want to upset the fans with it being a home game so they didnt make the call and got out of there as fast as they could.

No way that was goal tending. J.D. made the correct decision to knock ball away. It was above the rim but not in the cylinder. Which means ball had no chance of going in. Only one of the few good call refs made the whole game.

I'm not a fan of either team. That wasn't goaltending but after watching it over and over, it looks like the ball was out of bounds before the game clock was at all 0's. I think they should have reviewed the game clock.

There appears to be about .3 seconds left on the clock when the ball goes out of bounds, therefore the play should have been reviewed……
But oh well it’s a tough loss for my Coogs. We aren’t going anywhere, and will be playing hard all year - and winning !!!
They can’t review it if no call was made. The only thing they can check and should’ve checked is if time was left

That theft of Edward’s 3 point shot for no reason whatsoever other than the fact that he was fouled while he was shooting just show the level of corruption by these shady refs! It was clear as day he was fouled when he was shooting that 3 point shot when that Bama’s player rushed towards him and ran into him while he was shooting that 3 point shot. If the refs were honest and fair then Edwards’ shot would have counted and he would also be given an opportunity to complete a 4-point play by going to the line to shoot a free throw. But instead the shady refs stripped him of his 3-point shot and called a foul on him or something, I’m not even sure what was the call by that shady ref, but ESPN refused to even show the replay of that shot which led me to think they knew those refs had just cheated the Coogs of a 3 point shot and an opportunity to complete a 4-point play, which Edwards would have done since he is a terrific free throw shooter.
If the refs didn’t strip Edwards of that 3-point shot and his free throw then we would of led by 5 or 6 points (Before Edwards’s 3 point shot we were leading by 1 or 2 points, I’m not sure which one is correct) then we would have won that game with the game coming to the final seconds and we got a 5 or 6 point lead. Those shady refs knew that and stepped in to cheat against us just like those other refs did against us during March Madness a few years ago against Michigan. These college refs are so damn corrupt there is no doubt about it whatsoever!

You might have you YT speed settings set to 1.25x or 1.5x. The game is at normal speed
I had to watch that three or four times… the ball bounced out and when it bounced out ….Davis knocked it away …. Close but great play … it was not touching the rim …
The ball does not have to be touching the rim for it to be GT. The ball was still over the cylinder of the rim and it was easy to gauge because you could see from the timing of the bounce before Davis hit it until he hit it. The timing was totally off for it not to have been still over the cylinder after Fabian White tipped it the 2nd tip. Even one of the top college refs after the game said it was GT but it wasn't reviewed bc it wasn't called on the court. It's unfortunate for Houston they should of won but Alabama is at least 3rd weekend NCAA tournament good.

You're clearly wrong! You can touch the ball all day if it isn't inside the cylinder. And it was clearly outside the cylinder when he touched it. Players get rebounds and block shots above the rim all the time.

That was a reviewable call but the ball wasn’t even close to the rim that’s probably why they didn’t review it. The angle the bench got made it look right over it but it was about a foot in front. Gif floating around twitter that showed it from the opposite side and it was way off.

I was at the game live & it’s going to be a rematch in March for sure some way some how lol both teams are top 10 in the nation. Sasser & U of H bigs are unbelievable the best footwork I ever seen bigs have. Bama guards are feisty and quick they destroy Houston defense in the last minute by attacking the rim hard. Most definitely the best game of the year so far

I have been trying to tell Alabama fans for years, everyone hates Bama bc they can't beat us in football, so they take their hate out on our basketball team. Now that CNO has turned the team into a contender, we get even more hate. Plus having back to back Heisman winners and knocking off the Zags then 14th ranked Houston kitty cats, will definitely put a target on the team.
