Great little itinerary. This is very similar to what I did on my last trip or only 5 nights. Looking forward to visiting Japan again. Thanks for the content Nathan!
@@NinjaMonkeyguy I'll second that, as I'm also going to Japan for a week in mid-January. Specific items: cash exchange ( heard it was better to do at home), SIm-card for cell phone, and using credit cards in Japan. I found out from a Japanese native, now living in the US, that his credit cards were declined in Japan, after a very recent visit. You don't want to run out of money so far from home...
Just completed my info on the web for my trip on Monday. Many times there, but first time to spend Christmas there! So excited! Thanks for your videos Nathan!
Great.. adapt it, i know some people use it and spread it across a longer period too.. or get more inspiration from my 2 week itineary: th-cam.com/video/qop6WqPbaAY/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the video and info, very helpful! As a suggestion for future ones, I would show the written name of the places you're mentioning on the screen. Many of these I'd like to write down or find online, but I don't know how to spell them. Cheers 👍🏼
Thanks for responding! I tried the link on my phone but I get an error message saying I don't have access to Google My Maps. Maybe it's because of my region? (Visiting from Canada). I'm also watching the video on the tv where I don't have the description handy - having the names on there would let me add them to my own map :) thank you in any case!

Thank you for your ideas! I might actually look into getting a 7 day JR pass ,since i was planning on going to japan for 13 days..so a 7 day pass would cover most of the bulk of my travels.Thank you Nathan-san 🥰🍣
@@NinjaMonkeyguy 3 day in Tokyo. Then to Aomori for lunch and morning, and Hakodate for the night, and the next day return to Tokyo with a stop at Sendai. Finish the trip in Tokyo with the last night staying in Narita ;). Lol Narita is always the last night I stay
Good itenerary Ninja 🐒 I did something similar on my trip Tokyo , Kanazawa, Nagoya Tokyo because I wanted to go to the other side of Japan and I was so glad I did
Finally caught up after my NFR trip to watch this and for the most part I've sort of followed a very similar outline, but my shortest trip was ten days. I disagree with not going to Nijo Jo (castle) when in Kyoto. Also it is within an easy walk to the old Imperial Palace who grounds and gardens can be strolled through. To do these, I'd skip Fushimi Inari Shrine, but I'm not a huge fan of Tori gates. It's impressive to see but for me five minutes was enough. To each their own.
Hi can you write out the places you suggested so they are easier to find on a map? Of course Tokyo Osaka Kyoto are easy to find but the islands and lake town etc would be nice to have in writing. Thanks
Hi There.. Check out this map I created, includes all the major places, day trip options and sightseeing! Hope this helps: www.google.com/maps/d/u/1/edit?mid=1pCqj3hM9tZ9WjPlbRmZlLWhG07ArhI8&usp=sharing
Brilliant. This is your third video I’m watching and I appreciate it. Exactly what I wanted. Tokyo (and day trips) but needed help planning. THANK YOU. Question: in your opinion, is a tour guide necessary for a first time visitor like me? I don’t want to fall for cash grabs if I could just walk around Tokyo myself (with google maps etc). I will be staying in Shinjuku.
I think you can do it without a tour guide but a tour guide can also bring great value, piece of mind and insight into different things. If a tour guide is something you are looking for then the local guide is my suggestion or perhaps for certain days
Hey Man, thank you so much for this. This video puts all things to perspective. I actually confused about a few things because my itinerary is of 18 days, out of which I get to spend 8 going ahead and then another group is joining me. So I need to do some tweaks, which I am sure the discord server can help with. Although, the link says "invalid/expired" so, by any chance, can I get a new one to join 😁
Hi Nathan, thank you for the itinerary. It is awesome! Wondering if I follow it exactly, should I buy the JR pass? If yes, which pass should I buy? Thank you for all the amazing content.😊
The itinerary can be used as is or as a guide tweaking as needed, it would work well with a jr pass if you are planning additional day trips at the current prices. However, prices are set to go up later this year so you might need to see if it’s worth it. The itinerary is also doable without the pass perhapse even cheaper
hmmm,... not Chiba ? (^_^) ... it's true that the monorail system only goes through boring suburbs but it's the longest in the world,... and few to zero foreign tourists ...
this video was kinda pointless to me personally because you just listed places with complicated namesa dn flashed a picture. It would help if you spelled each place's name and swon it on the map
more things to work on! I know I will never have the perfect video, but I do value all feedback. Getting a balance of information for those who want it and getting straight to the point is hard, but one I know I need to work on and will continue to try doing so!
More BS?? Tokyo is no more Japan than New York City is America?? Japan has become very popular with tourists and bloggers trying to make money virtually guiding them. Think about it. Tokyo is the largest city in the world. The only rational reason to literally run around there for any length of time is to proclaim to those you hope to impress that you did?? While I don't want to offend the people living there by suggesting you visit, Hokkaido and Kyushu offer as much at a more leisurely pace a lot less crowded.
Hey, I appreciate your comment.. You obviously don't follow my channel. I'll actually be travelling for 6 weeks through part of Japan including Tohoku, covered Kyushu, shikoku, Hokkaido and love the Japanese Inaka. I travel extensivelly out of Tokyo but also think Tokyo is a great city with a lot to check out. Always recommending people head out and see more that Japan has to offer. I hope you'll check out some of my other content and future Tohoku videos too!
