I hadn't known about the drinking straw being used to test a flute by other's until now. Interesting. Thank you.

It works out perfectly if you have 5/16 inch drinking straws and 5/16 mouthpiece hole!

I thought you consider big flutes like that to be non traditional. No?

Absolutely! This is NOT a traditional flute and I go over that in the upcoming video where this flute was made.

I noticed that many of the quina flutes have a closed end with a smaller hole than a diameter of the inside of the flute. Do they use the diameter of the end piece to tune the flute and is this a back pressure method of tuning? Thank you for any clarification you might give me on this as I'm trying to reproduce one accurately and was planning on using this method for tuning the flute. The flute body will be just a little shorter than the cut line of an open-ended flute for this purpose. Is that the correct way to do that? Thank you for any help that you can give me on this and blessings to you and all that you love.

I was wondering why you Dremel out the sound end instead of routing all the way through...now I know lol

Seeing your smock, hands, and the saw dust on the table reminds me of something a friend of mine said to me. "What do woodworkers make for a living? Sawdust. Lots of sawdust."

What woods are hollow, besides bamboo?

River cane, elderberry, sumac, corn, sunflower, a number of small weeds. I just cut down a pokeberry with a 1 1/4 inside diameter and although it is mildly toxic, it can be made less toxic.

I think i would have drilled it out then used a flush cutting router bit with bearing, and maybe using a padded jubilee clamp to prevent splitting ;)
