That finish on Bash 88 was so horrible that the AWA did the exact same finish for the Lawler Vs Von Erich to unify the World Class/AWA belts and the AWA of all promotions did a far better job in Superclash 3. Too little, too late for Verne though.
*The Lawler/Von Erich finish at SC3 was a clever, inventive finish that at least offered the potential of return matches leading to a blow-off. Though as you rightly state, it was too late by December 1988 is have any positive effect on business.*
