Laurel and Oliver is CANON aka one of the ultimate OTPs in DC-verse. How the heck did Arrow writers messed that up?! This is not the second time it has happened in a CW show. Although the situation was totally different in Smallville, the actress that played Dinah aka Black Canary could only do a few cameos in the show. But even then Justin Hartley’s Green Arrow and Alaina Huffman’s Black Canary had chemistry and was flirting with each other. However, like I said because Alaina could only do a few episodes they didn’t show any development in their relationship and Justin’s Oliver Queen/Green Arrow became a show regular in last 3 seasons of Smallville. He as well ended up with Miss Watchtower aka Chloe Sullivan aka Lois’ cousin (who was also Oliver’s ex-girlfriend), but at least Smallville writers were smart enough to build up Lois and Clark even if it was the slowest burn/build up to a relationship. At least they got together and got their happy ending. But damn I would have thought Laurel and Oliver was finally going to be endgame in “Arrow”, but I was proven wrong. That is soooo crazy! I’m shocked...
The difference on Smallville was that it wasn't about Green Arrow so his extra curricular activities didn't really matter to the general public, earlier in Smallville they TRIED to force the Chloe/Clark ship which would've been detrimental to the ratings so thankfully they knew wtf they were doing and didn't do it. Because the producers on that show weren't stupid enough to shove an OC down the lead character's throat, the producers for Error decided to make a clone of Chloe and force it down the lead character's throat in their show, whether it hurt the ratings or not; which it did. The reason that Black Canary wasn't on more of Smallville, aside from it not being about Oliver, was the fact that she got pregnant during the show's run so unfortunately she couldn't come back that often. Error's writers screwed it up because it's Narc Guggenheim, he screws up EVERYTHING he's involved, especially the female characters. I wasn't shocked about any of it, including the further drop in ratings in season 8 in EVERY episode besides the Laurel-centric one (8x09). Guess she's a fan favorite after all.
I wasn't on twitter at the time so I only knew that half the audience threw a fit when she died years later but if I knew I would've joined them. And true they should've ended together
