    Dear Gary. Your short video explained perfectly how to set up the yep speedie for an airplane. It no doubt saved me a countless amount of time, trying to figure out how to use the programming card. You are a true gentleman! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. Kind regards, Flyboy09 😊

    thanks for this, I received my YEP programming card the other week, and I had no idea what I was configuring as I didn't know which page I was on lol.

    Thanks. That double botton push saved my day. Couldn't figure out how to get to page two. I don't agree with you on the end point setting, but I'll leave that. Thanks again!

    I suck at remembering stuff. Don't fly too many electrics either. Use YEP ESCs exclusively when I do. I've probably watched this video 50 times. All my planes using YEP stuff are perfect. You rock.

      @GaryQuiring  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scott you are not alone, I have to refer back to my own videos all the time on how to set something up! And I also have all YEP ESC's really reliable and not expensive.

    from my Zagis to the $2000 F5J sailplane, only use YEP. These things are awesome, and easy to program.

      Same here Jason, only the snobs continue to use Castle controllers, they are convinced more $$$ is always better.

    Great Video - really useful as the ESC's and Cards are both being sent out without any instructions and set up for helis only.

    Thanks once again Gary for saving my bacon. Got a 60A YEP in my new Grafas and the esc was doing too many strange things. Soft start and soft break. It was even waiting for mid throttle to start turning!! All that I have left to figure out is the rough start... it sort of stutters. On Quads you can tell the controller what signal will consistently start the motors and set it.

    • @GaryQuiring
      @GaryQuiring  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm, the rough start is odd, do you have it set for auto-timing? If that does not solve it I would check your solder connections to the motor.

    • @larrys7888
      @larrys7888 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have timing set to AUTO on the second page. and when I tried a 4S the start was smooth. I will try it at the field today with the 3S3300 I want to fly with and let you know. The issue is only at the bottom. Monitor says -80%

  • @cmaben
    @cmaben 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks this was really useful for setting the ESC up!
    However I had problems calibrating the throttle using the programming card when the signal was going through a Vector flight controller. The solution I found was to calibrate the throttle endpoints by doing the usual process without the programming card i.e. set throttle max on Tx, power on ESC, wait for beeps and then lower throttle and wait for the confirmation beeps. Works fine now os if anyone has a similar problem this will save you some problem solving time ;)

  • @rva1945
    @rva1945 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have one and the acceleration is slow, I guess that is for helis. I don't have the card and it is hard to get here, so is there any way I can program the acceleration using the transmitter?

    • @GaryQuiring
      @GaryQuiring  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the spool up speed which is easily programmed using the card. I don't believe you can program that with the TX.

  • @scottyd035ntknow

    Back again lol... Moved and had stuff in storage for a bit and forgot again... Still awesome how to. 100A YEP ESC programmed for a FW Mig21 with a FMS 80mm inrunner. Hopefully no crashing manana...

  • @OzParkPilot
    @OzParkPilot 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got the programming card and went though the sequence. Easy to follow thanks. However, I still can not get my motor to run. I have disconnected the red wire as I'm running a separate 2s Lipo for RX power. This has been standard practice for hipowered set ups like mine but could this be the issue ? Motor will simply not run... Thanks

    • @GaryQuiring
      @GaryQuiring  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you might need the red wire when you program the ESC. The only thing I can think is wrong is the ESC is not arming because the throttle is not low. If your radio is a Futaba type you have to reverse the channel. If that's not the issue I would try a servo on the throttle channel just to confirm the stick is able to move the servo.

    • @CharlestonrcsocietyNetClub
      @CharlestonrcsocietyNetClub 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The solution is easy - Get the programming card!!! I don't do beeps and that is another reason I love my YEP ESC's. The USA warehouse at Hobby King stocks the card for under $7 bucks. Here is the link:

    After I completed the programming for 70mm Dr Mad 5 blade 4S EDF all works well except that after a burst of throttle when I then close the throttle i hear 2 beeps repeating every few seconds. I tried different batteries including new batteries that were fully charged. What is this please ?

    • @plasticbaldy
      @plasticbaldy 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK - Found the answer elsewhere. 2 beeps repeating means battery low voltage.

    Why do you trim your gas stick? In my oppionion this does not make any sense.

    • @GaryQuiring
      @GaryQuiring  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's very important to trim the 'gas' stick. Not all radios are created equal. All the decent ESC's have a trim for the throttle stick. The ESC needs to know where zero and full are. Without trimming for example some of my ESC's won't start the throttle until the stick is well past the 1/3 mark. It also helps make the throttle channel more linear. In some cases the calibration is mandatory because the ESC won't see zero so it won't arm until it's calibrated. It all depends on the radio. That's why they have that function.

    Hi Gary thanks for vid great help, but i think i got a problem, on Special functions when i do STOP with my throttle at 0% and press enter the tone is the same as all other tones, but when it comes to doing FULL SPEED with my throttle at 100% and press enter the tone is different as if there is something wrong, my throttle hold on TX is off, have you got any ideas mate?
    regards
    Matt

    • @GaryQuiring
      @GaryQuiring  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure, try testing the throttle with a servo installed to see how much travel you have. You could also try a fresh model in your radio, maybe the throttle setting has an end point set or a throttle curve.

    Hi Gary, handy guide you have provided for us new guys :-), I am certainly going to use that brake feature for my new pusher arrangement / no gear.
    But with all due respect, why this trimming the throttle before setting Stop / Full Throttle. Better resolution would be better had by teaching it the standard range, no? :-) I am just putting a heat sink on my new 60A and will program it tonight it is truly a well made bit of gear. I hope I made my 50" flying wing tough enough to withstand the output from this 550 watt NTM PropDrive,... I will never run out of BEC :-)
    Best regards, C

    Hi Gary, This is a great video... thanks so much! I know this isn't your job to help us trouble shoot problems, but if you have any ideas, I would appreciate it. My YEP 60A ESC (came w/ BFG 2600) won't hold it programming. I go thru and program everything, but when I unplug and plug back in, I'm starting from scratch. As a matter of fact, none of the XY grids are lit-up until I start pushing the red X (rows) button or Y (columns) button.

    • @heychas
      @heychas 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +heychas Turns out my BFG2600 ESC was not a YEP... hence, the programming card wouldn't work! Once I purchased a real YEP esc, it worked fine. Thanks again for the video.

    Thank you Gary this was a huge help to me. These YEP programming cards are so good, I also got the card for the Hobbyking Blue Series ESC's as well (I am sticking with YEP and Blue ESC's due to the size of the SBEC with them, with YEP 1st choice unless out of stock, as both these these give comfortable SBEC leeway for 6 servo's with the size of model I fly).
    Link for the Blue Series ESC card for those that need one - www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=13431&aff=1220394
    eta: the way the Blue Series card is used is quite different to the YEP card - there's a good explanation of it on TH-cam.
