During the scene where Beckett and Castle were at his book party when they talked, Beckett seemed ready to say yes to him. She thought he was going to ask her out, she seemed ready to be with him. And the scene of 47 seconds she seemed ready again, prepared to say yes that she would want to be with him. Those moments say a lot about their history and how far they've come.

Then in season 3 Beckett was in a relationship with Josh while Castle was single. And in season 4 she was still RECOVERING /emotionally/ psychologically from being shot and Castle didn't want to pressure her into taking the next step in their relationship, he knew she wasn't ready. They were both clearly IN LOVE with eachother that wasn't the problem it was just bad timing and Beckett scared of getting her hurt broken/rejection. Remember what Becketts therapist asked her are you afraid he will wait for you or that he won't???? Castle choose to be PATIENT for one reason and one reason only, Kate made him happy. In 4×1 Alexis asked her dad does she make you happy? Castle said yeah she does. CASTLE WAS IN LOVE WITH BECKETT OF COURSE HES WILLING TO WAIT 4 YEARS TO BE WITH HER BECAUSE SHE MADE HIM HAPPY. Stop putting the blame on Beckett because deep down she would have said yes if he asked her out but she was SCARED!!!
