Bannack is so much more than a touristy place like Virginia City & Nevada City. It was Montana's first territorial capital. It might appear touristy during Bannack Days when actors & vendors exhibit how daily chores were done back then. These were hard workers who paved the way for future inventors to create inventions to help make life easier. There is just so much history to be learned. Each time we would visit we would discover even more about these pathfinders who have made our lives increasingly easier. I hope you'll visit Bannack again🙂

Imagine all the famous and infamous characters who walked those streets and buildings over a hundred years ago! Gives me chills just watching the video.

Very scenic area. It's nice to see a large layout of so many buildings . You could picture a real town easily.

It was very nicely put together! It’s a long drive to get to but worth the trip!

I went to Bannack many years ago. I loved looking at all the old buildings and went through everyone of them. It was a great time for me!!

I visited Bannock back in the early 90s and it looks as if the interior of the hotel has been painted since my visit. I don’t remember a table and chairs in the saloon.

Bannack was not abandoned in the 1940's. We owned the Jackson house east from 1964 to 1979. We were the last family to live in the house before the state took the property by imminent domain. I travel to Bannack every year.

Wow that’s so interesting that you were the last family to live there! Must’ve been such a unique experience! I really enjoyed visiting - beautiful part of Montana!

Very cool, I enjoy being able to see the inside of the buildings. Have you gone to Luckenbach Texas? This reminds me of there. ❤️

I haven't been to Luckenbach, but I hope to at some point in the near future!

Interesting video. I knew of Bannack, as my research into the history of James Laird and his "almost duel" with Sam Clemens (Mark Twain) in Comstock led Laird to Bannack to set up a newspaper in 1864.

Another great video as always my friend!! I've always wanted to go to Bannak but I never have taken the time to go even though I have been through Montana several times over the years. I'm kinda like you...I believe the "tourist" part is kind of a buzz kill but I understand why they do it. Either way it is pretty cool.

It had definitely been on my bucket list for a while so I decided to take the detour and check it out. Not sure what my expectations were, but I guess I had something a little different in mind. But, I still recommend it for anyone who likes this stuff. 👍🏼👍🏼

Reminds me of Cowtown in Wichita. Cowtown Wichita is a pretty good ghost town too.

Yeah definitely some similarities except this is more barren. CowTown feels kind of like a kid’s park and this one felt more authentic if that makes sense.

This is great thanks for the info, I found out I live about 90 minutes from here my grandma told me about Bannack she made it sound like it was kind of an unknown location that wasn’t maintained. Kind of sad to see it’s touristy but they’re still the same buildings either way I guess. Can’t wait to visit

That’s very cool! You must live in an incredibly beautiful area! I think most people would really enjoy visiting Bannack, and it’s a terrific educational experience for someone not familiar. Overall I liked it a lot!

This is a town that is well broken in.

Great video, so good that the remains of this town is being preserved. The great days of America, nice if a bit more research, maybe research some characters from the old days.

Hmm, it's only about 2 1/2 hours away from me in Idaho. It might be a good day trip.

Bannack, capital of the Montana territory ... that reminded me have you been to Lecompton, Kansas yet? That used to be the capital of the Kansas Territory. It's a very small town nowadays, just a dot on a map, you may even call it a ghost town even though it still has people living there but there is lots of good state history there and historic buildings. You seem like the type who may like it

    • @TravelwithaWiseguy
      @TravelwithaWiseguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes I have been. One of my good friends is from there so I visited once. A lot of interesting history to learn about in Lecompton!

I wish I could’ve been there at night time. I imagine it would be about as spooky as could be!
