- No-commentary gameplay of Toki / JuJu Densetsu. World Set 1. Hardest difficulty. Played with MamePlus 0.134, no tools, cheats, autofire, or save states were used. Completed with 1 credit.
Really nice arcade game from TAD Corporation (also known for games like Cabal and Blood Brothers).
There were ports for Amiga, Atari ST, Lynx, C64, Nes and Megadrive. The Amiga and Atari ST were the best versions, and the Lynx was also a very good one. The Megadrive version was redesigned by Sega and was changed completely into a boring and crappy game.
The gameplay is set on hardest. The main difference is that enemies need more hits to be killed. - เกม

El que haya completado el juego en tan solo 20 minutos realmente lo admiro, fué un viciosín de las maquinolas arcade de mi generación.

A otro punto que se me olvido mencionar, este juego es para 2 players (2 jugadores) al insertar la moneda agregabas la otra y oprimias el boton star del player 2 y listo a jugar los 2 players.
Nota: El final cambiaba dependiendo quien llegara a terminar el juego primero,a verdad, ese truco no se lo sabian.
I played this game heaps as a kid but never finished it, then the game was removed and replaced with Street Fighter 2, wasn't until 2006 thanks to an emulator that I finally finished it, and still play it now.

outhere in Brazil I played it in 1990-1991 but could only finish it in 2003.It became easier to me when I played it on MAME and learned all enemies' moves.

Un juego divertidisimo, en extremo dificil. Un personaje carismatico, es una lastima que ToKi no haya sobrevivido al tiempo.
Opino lo mismo, aunque supongo que está relacionado con el hecho de que la compañía apenas duró unos años y solo hizo 5 juegos, aunque casi todos de una excelente calidad. Hace años se anunció un remake de Toki, pero el proyecto lleva varios años parado, así que no sé cuándo saldrá.

Yo este juego cuando lo jugaba era mi preferido y me hice tan bueno que una ocacion solo me ganaron una vida. Osea que lo termine solo perdiendo una vida. Pense que yo era el más bueno del mundo para este juego pero veo que hay otro mejor. A menos que haya echo trampa. Pero parece que si lo sabía jugar bien. Exelente. Me transportó al pasado cuando los juegos eran divertidos y no había tanto desmadre como ahora
Hola Carlos, gracias por el comentario. No, no hay trampa alguna en la partida, pero hay una diferencia. Tú seguramente lo jugarías en las recreativas, y yo esto lo he hecho jugando en Mame y practicando con save states las partes difíciles para memorizarlas antes (luego la partida la he hecho del tirón) y sin gastar dinero. Así que lo tuyo tiene mucho más mérito que lo mío. Un placer, me alegro que te haya traído buenos recuerdos el vídeo :)
@@MrMaskaman ademas se nota q usan uno de esos controles q al mantener solo presionado el boton de disparo este dispara repedidamente muy rapido
@@APASIONADOBANDERO Si te refieres a esta partida, no, simplemente pulso el botón muy rápido. Se nota mucho cuando una partida usa autofire y este no es el caso.

Cuando se graba un video de gameplay se lo juegan varias veces para estudiarse el mapa.. Eso le quita la dificultad y emoción..
Cuando es en directo cambia todo; tiene mas emoción porque es en tiempo real.

Nota Curiosa: El jefe del 3 er stage, cuando pasas por debajo de el y no le disparas se va y te sigue aventando letras desde en frente pero el no aparece y por logica si no te matan sus letras te mata el tiempo que se acaba; 😋 a que no te sabias ese truco.

Rogerio Ap Silva de Andrade I knew a few people who could beat this game in the arcades. I think they are the true skilled gamers, as now with emulators you can practice and play anytime you want, use save states to memorize everything faster or watch other gameplays. I met this game on MAME when I was like 5/6 years old. I was scared shitless by it (and Cabal) for it's dark colors and creepy music.
Now I realize it's pretty good.

I played this in a college arcade. Very satisfying game... but beware when you play this game: if you don't dispatch Zarzamoth before he stops, he hurls tusks at you, and his trunk extends like V'medlo's neck.

This is one of few games I able to complete with one coin , along with Metal Slug 1, Pang 3 and 3 wonders.

My story:
8 years old back in 1991, at Chucky Cheese playing arcades 3 times a week at $10 per day ($30 worth in today's money, dad had a business nextdoor), made it all the way to the end-boss, couldnt beat him as the game only allows 5 continues for the last stage - not enough time for my brain to memorize patterns. I was so bummed out cause i LOVED this game on the arcade machine! It was sooo amazing and ahead of it's time! Fast forward and Donkey Kong Country took inspiration from it, Cuphead 30 years later took inspiration from it.
Today i loaded up MAME with this game in it, hooked up an XBoxOne controller and beat it!
Fucking end boss so fucking hard! Amazing how even back in 1989 there is RNG. Feels good finally knocking this off my bucketlist!

@Maskaman , Recuerdo que mi hermano llegaba con 8 o 9 vidas, y para poner el récord más alto, al quedarle 1hp al jefe final, se dejaba matar para reaparecer en la parte de la patineta y poder hacer más puntos. No tengo la cifra exacta, pero su récord era de aprox 340, 000 puntos.

No eres el único mi estimado, este juego lo jugaba a los 12 años, recuerdo que no perdía ninguna vida en el juego y al final me dejaba matar para poder jugar todas mis vidas en la ultima etapa, saludos y que gratos tiempos los 80 - 90s.

Los juegos que se hacían a finales de los 80's eran obras maestras, el remake lo hicieron con Flash no mms mejor hubiesen hecho una remasterización. TAD tronó por qué no vendió lo suficiente y para sobrevivir este juego debió vender 5000 unidades solo vendió la mitad y eso gracias a la piratería salieron muchos clones de la tarjeta. Solo como dato si se comenzó a trabajar en Toki 2 pero por las finanzas de TAD no fue posible y solo quedaron los bocetos.

@@mauriciojavier6389 Hay que intentar llegar a su primera transformación con algún disparo especial para quitarle la túnica cuanto antes. Luego tiene dos patrones posibles, uno en el que tira bombas y otro en el que alarga el cuello. Diría que las bombas nunca llegan a la esquina, pero el cuello sí, por lo que hay que intentar colocarse un poco más delante y luego retroceder para esquivarlo.

It's nice to hear that your dad also played this game. Well, it's easier to beat games now with emulators. You can save state and practice the difficult parts or continue without wasting money. You couldn't do that in the arcades. I'm sure that you will be able to finish it if you try now :)

I managed to get to the final boss of level 6 but could never beat it on arcade. I was the only kid on the block that could get to him but i remember not being able to kill him it was damn hard.

This version blows the portible version away, it has so much more stuff in it, i hate how developers strip off things wich has nothing to do with hardware limitations., for example, the lynx versiob could,ve be done slightly better..
In my opinion, the Lynx version is a great port. It's obvious that it couldn't be exactly like the arcade, but they did a good job. However, the Megadrive version is a completely different game and I really don't like it. You should check the Commodore Amiga port, it's fantastic.

No te preocupes Diego, has sido respetuoso. Mi canal está centrado en este tipo de partidas. Sé que para algunos jugadores pueden parecer trucadas, pero simplemente hay entrenamiento detrás y memorización. Toki es un juego difícil en las primeras partidas, pero una vez aprendes dónde está cada enemigo y cómo eliminarlo, se convierte en un juego sencillo, ya que no hay nada aleatorio. Tienes esta misma partida comentada en español el canal, pero creo que digo más tonterías que otra cosa, jaja.
+Maskaman pinche juego estaba bien cabron, como dijiste en el de Bart Nightmare, no dudo que ahora que tenemos 20 o 30 años lo acabemos, pero nadie lo acabo cuando lo jugo a la edad de 9 años.

Insane. I manage to finish it easily on normal, but on hardest can't even get past the first boss.
BastianBB I don't remember the differences between difficulty settings, but I'm pretty sure that if you can beat this game on normal, you could beat it on hard with some practice. I think that one of the most remarkable differences is that bosses have bigger health bars, but I may be wrong.
Normal enemies also take more than a single hit to kill.

Por curiosidad, cuantas partidas has echado a este juego para pasártelo así?
No sabría decirte con exactitud, ya que es un juego que llevo toda mi vida jugando. También hay que tener en cuenta que yo cuando practico uso save states para acelerar el proceso, por ejemplo grabo uno por fase o jefe final, y así se memoriza antes. Sé que lo más legal sería empezar desde el principio cada vez que muero, pero no tengo tanto tiempo. Supongo que me llevaría entre 10-15 partidas teniendo en cuenta todo lo anterior.

Ese juego son palabras mayores, jaja. Tendría que practicarlo y ver qué se puede hacer, pero ya digo que es bastante complicado.
Yo no llegaba ni al primer casco , pero una chava lo terminaba con una sola vida era una chipocluda .

Leyendo tu nombre no sé si hablas castellano. If you don't speak Spanish, just tell me and I'll write to you in English. Si no estás familiarizado con los emuladores, te recomiendo que te descargues la versión portable, que simplemente es descargar y jugar. Basta con que pongas en Google: Toki portable y lo descargues de cualquier página. En caso contrario, lo ideal es que tengas por un lado el emulador MamePlus, y por otro lado te bajarías los juegos (llamados roms) de cualquier página que los albergue, como Emuparadise.

Yes, that's true. He is supposed to get stuck but as you can see, that happened after his jumping, so I don't know exactly how it works.

That's because yours is a bootleg (a non-official copy released by a different company). Most of the time they were identical to the original but a lot cheaper.
