Paul Mescal dishes on BITING baboons in Gladiator II

Having mostly worked on small, independent movies, Paul Mescal (Normal People) wasn't sure what to expect as he prepared for the role of Lucius in Gladiator II. But as he tells Ben in this week’s ReelTalk episode, once he spoke with director Ridley Scott, strapped on his Roman sandals and stepped onto the set, he felt ready to take on the epic role. Ben also talks to Paul’s co-star, Fred Hechinger (The White Lotus) who plays Emperor Caracalla, about some of the crazy Colosseum battles which, actually happened in real-life. This included epic animal fights against the Gladiators, in particular with angry baboons, which Paul admits was a “brutal” day at the office.
Gladiator II also stars Denzel Washington, Matt Lucas, Pedro Pascal and Connie Nielsen returns as Lucilla after appearing in the Acadamy Award winning original movie, Gladiator with Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix in 2000.
Gladiator II is now showing in Australian Cinemas.
