ALWAYS say that your significant other is meeting you, right around the corner, should be pulling in any minute, had to go for a potty break etc.; your friends should be back from their hike anytime; you need to run as your family is waiting for you down the road, etc. Also may want to remove your social info off the jeep. It seems to me by the way you are describing it that if something had happened it wasn't planned. I would carry at all times even when you think you are alone. I was camping with my son. He was 4 and I am female. We started to go on a hike to the waterfalls. I started to get an uneasy feeling. A terrible feeling and all my alarm bells were going off. I don't remember seeing anyone. I told him that I thought we should turn around because I think the waterfall was too far. He went happily along. I know I made the right decision and it still freaks me out 17 years later.

Jeepsey did a fantastic job following her instincts and staying safe. It's good advice to flee, but you shouldn't drive in a panic or you could end up out of petrol in the middle of nowhere or so tired you make poor decisions.( especially if you are in an area that has limited phone service). Regrouping in a safe, public area seems like a smart thing to do.
I’m glad you left that area and always play it safe. Crude, rude people exist and it’s good we don’t have to put up with them very often. Take care and continue to follow your instincts!
I'm sorry to say this Sarah but your jeep is a rolling advertisement. So weirdos probably watch your channel then recognise you so I'm afraid you have to expect this.sorry hun❤
When I camp out, I usually sleep about 100 yards away from my vehicle. It's amazing to me how many people are attracted to a vehicle by itself. Señor Colt is my companion.
I'll bet that guy who got down and looked under your jeep was looking to see if you had a tracking device. How dare they mess up your sense of peace like this. We all love you. Feel better soon.
if something is transmitting, there are pretty inexpensive detectors to check for them or the police might even do an inspection for you, given the circumstances. If it's just a recorder, then they'll have to find it to retrieve it and if they lose sight of you a GPS tracker is pointless because the tracker is on you and you lost them. If you do find one, take it off and put it on a truck headed to alaska.
I’m glad you’re safe! I saw another solo van lifer that was approached by a man in a desert like area. The old man just sat in his ATV and watched her fold her laundry without saying anything. It was super creepy. He went over to her tell her he helps people who needs water. There was another creepy man watching her on the other side of the hill he said that’s why he went to go check on her. He was the creepy man watching her.
I watched it too. That dude was shady as EFF!! He also said she could shower at his house if she wanted!! The TH-camr was smart to have a camera pointed towards the creep and at her so she could watch what he did when she wasn’t looking!! I wish she would have posted where that was for, well you know, REVENGE!!😂😂😂
When you said that he was crouching under the Jeep..the first thing I thought was air tag or some kind of tracking device.. Going with your gut is smart.
Lots you can do to warn the preditors. Your a tourist, so grab your camera or cell phone like your taking pictures of the scenery. Let them know you think nothing of filming them. Take a picture of their license plate as your driving off. Don't talk to them. "I'm just leaving." Or pretend your not afraid and getting something out of your truck - then when your in your truck high tail it outta of there. Don't be shy about getting a picture of them or their license. Once you got that you can ID them and they will think twice. Keep a man's hat on the passenger side.
Unfortunately there are creepy bad folks everywhere. One downside too is yes, your Jeep stands out and you advertise your social media. And a solo female. Theres still a ton of good folks in this world that will back you , and so much beautiful land to explore. You have a good head on your shoulders and have great instincts. Glad you and lil one are safe!
Sadly it seems this year these things are happening more. I was camped waayy off trail near Parker. I went out at sunset to check on some things. There was a Dude standing in the Arroyo 4 ft from my van. Tweaker looking guy and that startled the living #hit outta me. I startled him as well 😲 he was clearly scoping my campsite. I had a side arm and then he asked for some water in which way the highway was? Well from where I was camping you can see the highway 2 mi down in the valley so.. I watched him walk off in the opposite direction of the highway further out into the desert and I packed my stuff up and I left. This is a place that I have camped every winter for years. However, ever since that happened it has left me unsettled and not feeling very good about anywhere I park now. Stay safe Nomads, the creepers have left the cities..
I'm glad you're well. I'm relieved that you were armed and protected as a precaution. I've been a competitive shooter for 40 years, but that didn't prepare me for an intruder in my home at 2AM. Absolutely terrifying and didn't sleep well for years afterwards. Spoiling the wonders of the outdoors is despicable and I hope the knuckle draggers have a miserable life. If you elect to have a fundraiser for tactical firearms instruction, I'd be glad to contribute to it.
Even without the title, I had an uneasy feeling through the whole video. It all seemed very exposed and open to who ever. I love solitude and remote places but some places just don’t feel right. Glad you were able to move on without further incident. I’ve had events like this on my solo travels as well and just getting away felt so good.
I pray that you always stay safe. My daughter was killed 6 yr. ago. I travel solo full-time . I just need to be able to view campers in a distance to feel secure. Always trust the gut for sure.❤
Glad you are safe, I'm a big man and some people creep me out even, so I'd say you did the right thing. Also I praise you for having a way to protect yourself and you're not afraid to use it. Take care of your self. I love your videos!!
You were absolutely right to leave, scary! Always listen to that "sense of danger", and keep your protective gear in reach. Happy Trails to you and better days ahead❤❤😊
Glad you got out safely. Similar thing happened to a close friend of mine several years ago. She found a campsite and began setting up when a vehicle pulled up and she recognized the driver as someone who struck up a conversation at a gas station a few hours before. She too travels well armed and her travel companion was a highly trained German Sheperd. The guy got out and immediately "pulled himself out" and started walking towards her. So she reached into her truck and pulled out her auto loading shotgun and fired 2 rounds into the ground in front of him. He fell back literally pissing all over himself and ran back to his vehicle with her dog right after him. She left right after he did and contacted police as soon as she was able. I don't know if he was ever found. She told me she doesn't trust anyone who will just walk up and start a random conversation at a primitive site. She's been a great friend since childhood and i hate the thought of anyone giving her trouble. The only person watching out for you in areas like that is you so do whatever is necessary to be and feel safe.
Jeepsy. Retired Forest Ranger here.. PNW. You handled yourself well. Face the danger. Avoid contact. Leave the area. Call authorities when possible. I just worked natural resources.. But. Over 30 years. Some things made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. It sounds like you were alert to that. One thing I looked for. Tire tracks on dirt roads. Amount of traffic. To know if the area is used much by others. You are right. Probabbly locals.
Check underneath your jeep to make sure he didn't put an Apple Tracker there. Also think about getting a .380 (fits in palm) that you can have on you at all times.
Why 380 get a full size pistol and keep it on you what ever caliber your comfortable with learn it how to use it how to draw hit what you shoot at etc not only is it fun it helps with eye hand coordination but dexterity visual recognition memory it has a host of other reasons after you get comfortable with one get another different caliber size etc say from a semi auto to a revolver it is amazing the benefits it brings
Just stumbled across your channel and video. Glad you were able to make it out of your situation safely and nothing happened. Just a thought/tip, however. I probably wouldn’t be announcing to the world the items you have for protection and where you keep them. You never know who may be watching
So glad you took off and nothing more serious occurred. I'd consider reporting the issue on iOverlander, even as Anonymous, to help others who might consider camping there or in the area. As a solo (and remote) camper, maybe reconsider and have the protection "on you" especially if anyone is approaching and you're solo. Perhaps you could also have video cameras pointing to the outside of jeep, so if you see anyone approaching, you can roll the cameras. Just some thoughts. Sorry you went through this ordeal, safe travels.
I assume you have video of the 3 guys for security reasons. License plate number. You should always have a cam going. I would have felt the same way as a single guy.
Yeah that was sketchy. They definitely were up to something. Usually, when you run into other people exploring, they could wave to acknowledge you, but they would not engage. Be careful out there.
God bless you & watch over you and your doggie.. thankfully you’re safe now & listen to your Gut feeling about the situation & thankfully you‘carry’; but with that being said, carry’on your person not leave your firearm in your jeep please lock n load Lady! People are frkn nuts out there ✌🏼🙏🏼💯
Thats scary. Especially after finding bones in a fire pit. Hope that was an animal and not a human. So glad you and litte one are ok. Stay safe friend. 🙏
good call, happened to me once I was camping in a fire tower alone, some guy at the gas station, got more info out of me than needed, kinda ran into him later on the way to the tower, got to the tower and thought, screw it, not worth it. I left like you and drove all night to get away. I also had a big dog and a shotgun and bear spray, but weirdos get you by surprise. Glad you are okay. good call!!
One of those guys was probably Damion himself. They seem like some local punks that view that area as their personal playground. The crotch-grab was probably their go-to manuver so that you'd either get sketched out and leave, or maybe (in their wildest adolescent fantasies) give him a smile and beckoning look! You made the right call for sure.
I was picked up while hitch hiking in '72 in a similar area by a psycho who pulled out a long string of credit cards and created a pretext of getting psyched up because I saw them, and he began to fume awhile until he pulled over, went to the back, pulled a rifle and began checking the bolt action while looking at me, and I sat still, there was no where to run, and all of a sudden, here comes 5-6 cars, and I guess it was rush hour at 6 am in the desert and he decided to back off that plan, got in the station wagon, and we rolled on to El Paso. Dude looked psychotic but I only noticed once I was in.
I Live in Las Vegas and wheel a modified Jeep Gladiator around Nevada and the southwest. There is no shortage of weird shady people wandering around. It is so true that your first instinct is the correct one. I am always armed when I travel anywhere.
Wow, that was super scary. I am glad that you posted this and told everyone your experience. Glad that you have protection and got out safely. Sending love and protection.❤
Bummer that had to happen to you! Thank God you’re safe. I’ve had all four tires slashed while out fishing… some people don’t like outsiders in “their” spot. I never felt safe again parking in the wilderness. Stay safe Sarah! ❤
Hi Lovely…. UK here. Just found your channel and had to say something, sooooo glad you are ok and safe, what is it with this world that we all can’t just take care of it and enjoy it!!! Things have happened to me at times so I understand how it makes you feel….. yes regroup but you must stay safe, you are such a cool lady…. Sending a big hug from reassurance xx❤
Just bought a 2015 Sahara Unlimited and stumbled across your channel and am diggin’ it! Just wanted to say “get a dash camera!” You can plug it into your ODB port and it will start recording when someone bumps your vehicle! Also, I was hit in my ‘20 renegade by someone going 95 while texting and driving and have video and images to prove it. You do so much driving that it would easily pay for itself! Keep cranking out the content✌🏼
Gosh, i'm so sorry you had to go through that. I look to your videos as they are calming to me. To see you go through that has me upset. I hope you find peace again soon
I'm glad you are okay and everything worked out. It obviously sucks that the thought has to linger and give you anxiety. Sounds like you handled it well. 🌷
You need to take the jeep into the rough country where regular trucks can't go. Also get some camo cover for your jeep. I had a camping tent with Tropentarn pattern, it matched the desert quite well.
You may let the rangers know in the area that you had an incident. They should be made aware. I had to do this in Coconino when my campsite was robbed. (Not me, just my stuff while in town) Rangers and Sheriff came out and both did reports.
That is one reason i have my drone to scout out the area i want to camp. I don't like having neighbors for that very reason. I don't trust people when camping. Glad you and little one made it out of that situation safely. Think about getting some camouflage netting to help hide your rig. Another good idea is getting to your site a couple hours before sunset. Usually people ain't moving around that close to sunset
Remember, though, if someone is camping in a remote, deserted area, bad people can shoot their dog. No one will hear their gunfire. If it's a group like in this case, there's no way anyone can handle all of them. Never, ever put yourself in a situation where there's no cell phone service. Think about getting a satellite phone. This stop was wrong from the start. Good advice from others to take your info off of your jeep, don't upload a video when you're still there, and never engage anyone. Keep that hole puncher on your body. Not in your side console. If you're in an accident, who knows where it'll end up.
Instinct doesn't fail. I'm glad you're safe! As beautiful as the area appeared on camera I was getting an eerie feeling from it before you told that story. Something felt very off about it.
So sorry that happened to you. I grew up in Dolan Springs..haven't been back for a lot of years but you made the right decision. Lots of sketchy folks. I'm glad you are safe 👍🏼
A couple years back, I was out exploring in north Texas close to the Oklahoma border. I found a good free camp spot which was part of the LBJ Grasslands around Coffee Mill Lake. I decided to hammock camp and had my 270 degree awning deployed and had my pew pew sitting on my ice chest right next to my hammock. Perfect night, until about 11PM and two trucks and one car rolled up and all the headlights were right on me. They all just sat there for a good 5-10 minutes idling and headlights shining on me. I poked my head out of my mummy bag. It was all dirt roads to get to the spot and the car was very out of place. They finally backed up, then pulled over to another spot. Then I heard one get out and walk to another truck. He was dressed in military type garb and was speaking middle eastern. They had a CB or HAM radio and starting to have a conversation over the radio. I could hear the other person replying in same language. I slowly got dressed and went over to my drivers door to get my extra ammo. magazine and was trying to plan for my escape in case things went south. I couldn't just jump in my vehicle and go because of the awning. I had the interior lights disabled for when opening the doors, so I just hunkered down behind the door. I had 30 rounds and my back was to the lake. I was blocked in. Fortunately, after about 30 minutes and the trucks/car never shutting off their engines and lots of conversation over their radio in some middle eastern language, they all left. As soon as it was clear, I packed up and drove home. I got home at 2-3AM and was pretty shaken up. To this day, I wonder if they saw my handgun and were sizing up the situation. It could have been that I was in their meeting place and interrupting their plans. It was that same "feeling" and intuition you had.
I’m really sorry you had to go through this. Of course, you did the right thing, and it’s understandable that you feel a little shaken. As a fellow solo Boondock camper I truly hope that the experience doesn’t affect your enthusiasm for finding remote places. Best of luck in the future!
Sadly out of the way places ,once peaceful and safe, are drawing bad elements. I always worry for you and Wonderhussy. Its best to be armed, its a must anymore. Glad you are. So happy you are safe. I believe in guardian angels .
I just discovered your channel and I think you're awesome! I live in Sweden and I have almost never heard or experienced encounters like this in the Swedish wilderness. You should be able to go anywhere without being approached by weird people. Our family have an English Mastiff. They are fantastic family members and the best guard dogs for sure. My dog would sense within seconds if someone has bad intentions and be on guard. I wish you the best and I hope you fully enjoy van life🙏🙏
Hi there, we as solo female travelers we need to be careful out there, and aware of our surroundings at all times. I usually sleep at gas stations as they are open 24/7 here where I live. Safe Travels
Sooo sorry that you had that experience. You did good in getting into your driver seat and putting in drive and rolling out of there. Wise choice leaving the area. I got a vision of Dueling Banjos type guys. Stay safe Sarah. That area was superb visually. Peace.

UPDATE: I made the comment below before I watched the whole video. Oh my God that would’ve scared the shitza out of me. You said sorry that you couldn’t get the footage of the area, that you wanted to stay there a couple days and get more footage. Hi - that was scary…I’m so glad acted quickly and are safe . You have a community here who loves you 😊 Another thing to mention as well, if someone asks a question such as ‘ so this is all you’ try to never disclose you are a solo traveller. You could say something along the lines of ‘ it’s my jeep and boyfriends…we’re checking out camping here. he’s walking our other dog’ … Using ‘We’ instead of ‘l.’ in unfamiliar situations which you may already do. A suggestion is to have a repertoire of lines/dialogue already created that sound natural in different situations where you are prepared so it sounds convincing . It makes you less vulnerable as it will make trouble makers think more if they know they have another male to deal with. It sucks we even have to think that way but it’s reality. Just feeling very protective of you and I think it’s important to have unwanted visitors think you are not alone….

Check your jeep for a tracking device
Facts. The US is beyond dangerous
I'll bet that guy who got down and looked under your jeep was looking to see if you had a tracking device. How dare they mess up your sense of peace like this. We all love you. Feel better soon.
My thought exactly...check for a tracking device..
if something is transmitting, there are pretty inexpensive detectors to check for them or the police might even do an inspection for you, given the circumstances. If it's just a recorder, then they'll have to find it to retrieve it and if they lose sight of you a GPS tracker is pointless because the tracker is on you and you lost them.
If you do find one, take it off and put it on a truck headed to alaska.
Totally agree!
I saw that too. Her name was something like vanilla..
I watched that youtube film yesterday 😉
I watched it too. That dude was shady as EFF!! He also said she could shower at his house if she wanted!! The TH-camr was smart to have a camera pointed towards the creep and at her so she could watch what he did when she wasn’t looking!!
I wish she would have posted where that was for, well you know, REVENGE!!😂😂😂
I’ve seen that video. It was super creepy.
I saw that video as well, he also told her he was married & if she needed a shower she could come to his place! 😲👹
You did the right thing Jeepsy. I believe all warnings like that come from spiritual guidance.
Its a different world now. Listen to your 'gut'.
Stay safe! 💕
When you said that he was crouching under the Jeep..the first thing I thought was air tag or some kind of tracking device.. Going with your gut is smart.
Yes I agree she should look under there to make sure they didn't plant a tracking device!!Good point!!👍
Or catalytic converter
How about the lift kit or suspension? Would you feel better if they wore a mask 😂.
@@shaneabrahamson8732 oh yea maybe checking out her jeep because they like how it’s set up
Check the wheel wells. Quick and easy place to stick one. Under the outside running boards too, bumpers and fenders and behind winches.
Agree👍🏻
I hate to say this but I'd be afraid of running into illegals.
Expect more lawlessness. A lot of it.
@@valerierogers9609 - Why? Seems like some people want the world to go to sh*t just to feel better about themselves..
I would like that but I am in Poland 😉 Glad you survived the home attack at 2 am
Never tell where your weapons are. To bad that happened
Today I get to work and now I have to go for a piss text, random, that is what sucks about having a CDL license
I thought the exact same thing. Glad to hear she has one though.

She only told where one gun is...
That's right never say to much on TH-cam or instagram people will follow you to find out information..
Some people a gross
Glad you’re ok. These situations happen everywhere but it’s that much more scary when it’s in the middle of nowhere
Intuition keeps us safe and also keeps us alive! You did a great job!
YEP. Your gut feeling is your first defense. You're OK. You're safe. The crouch grab was him signaling his intentions.
Glad you are safe, I'm a big man and some people creep me out even, so I'd say you did the right thing. Also I praise you for having a way to protect yourself and you're not afraid to use it. Take care of your self. I love your videos!!
I am so so glad that you left when you did. You are so right, we need to follow our gut and leave the area when we don't feel safe.
Thanks!
Always keep your weapon close. Only takes 1 time for something bad to happen. Praying for your safety.
Sarah I’m glad you are safe remember my friend Head On Swivel
It’s becoming not a safe place out there
Take precautions ❤️you
Just stumbled across your channel and video.
As long as you and your dog are safe and you used your intuition and you got out of there, that's all that matters. Love your channel
I assume you have video of the 3 guys for security reasons. License plate number. You should always have a cam going. I would have felt the same way as a single guy.
Do you have any video of them

Yeah that was sketchy. They definitely were up to something. Usually, when you run into other people exploring, they could wave to acknowledge you, but they would not engage. Be careful out there.

Glad you are okay. good call!!
the reason i like your channel is you go to interesting places, you don't do the usual things others do,i like travel videos which you do
👍👍you did good. I wonder if his name was Damien? A__ h_____. They messed up your camping experience.
You poor baby. As a mom I felt for you and wanted to hug you so much.
Wow, what a sweet lady Mary is!! ❤❤
She sure did. Us single ladies got be careful 😢 annoying
Someone you know?
I hope you documented their truck!!!!
I Live in Las Vegas and wheel a modified Jeep Gladiator around Nevada and the southwest. There is no shortage of weird shady people wandering around. It is so true that your first instinct is the correct one. I am always armed when I travel anywhere.
Glad to hear you're safe, and were able to avoid those idiots
They were definitely up to no good!
Wow, that was super scary. I am glad that you posted this and told everyone your experience. Glad that you have protection and got out safely. Sending love and protection.❤
Those guys were definitely up to no good. Glad you got the heck out of there. Good travels and stay safe.
Bummer that had to happen to you! Thank God you’re safe.
I’ve had all four tires slashed while out fishing… some people don’t like outsiders in “their” spot. I never felt safe again parking in the wilderness.

Sorry you went through this…. ALWAYS go with your gut!!!! Glad you and little one are ok. ❤
Hi Lovely….
I am so glad you left there. They sound like trouble.
Keep your head on a swivel. Especially in this day and age.
Take care.
I hope you find peace again soon
love your little dog.
Double what was said about tracking devices. A cop station may help out with the inspection
great idea.
Always park your vehicle pointed at an exit without obstructions in the way.
Truth
It's Ted again. Maybe you should do some more adventures with Wanda hussy and possibly pain in the atlas. Safety in numbers
I used to have a PitBull for a few years, and Mr. Nelson would be the perfect travel companion and he'd never let anyone get close to you!!
Something felt very off about it.
me too, I felt that from the start. Maybe because it was all so wide open.
Me too.
21:43 the strange weird dudes out in the woods bug me too, they were definitely acting creepy! I would have left also and am glad your safe
Wow!😔
That sounds very suspicious 😳
Bones and a key in a fire pit? I’d be gone
I’m really sorry you had to go through this. Of course, you did the right thing, and it’s understandable that you feel a little shaken. As a fellow solo Boondock camper I truly hope that the experience doesn’t affect your enthusiasm for finding remote places. Best of luck in the future!
Hope you checked for trackers on your vehicle . Law enforcement can also help with that. I had a friend have them look for trackers
I wish you the best and I hope you fully enjoy van life🙏🙏
I'm so sorry you had to experience that, but so glad you followed your gut.
Hi there, we as solo female travelers we need to be careful out there, and aware of our surroundings at all times. I usually sleep at gas stations as they are open 24/7 here where I live. Safe Travels

Oh, my! So glad your instinct told you to leave. Stay safe! Loved the scenery and glad you were able to video before the incident.
Sooo sorry that you had that experience. You did good in getting into your driver seat and putting in drive and rolling out of there. Wise choice leaving the area. I got a vision of Dueling Banjos type guys. Stay safe Sarah. That area was superb visually. Peace.
Wow, I am so sorry that this happened to you but so glad that you decided to split because as you pretty much stated, it’s always wise to follow your gut as it rarely lets you down. Safe travels once you get back out on the road.

UPDATE: I made the comment below before I watched the whole video. Oh my God that would’ve scared the shitza out of me. You said sorry that you couldn’t get the footage of the area, that you wanted to stay there a couple days and get more footage. I think the video you did is gonna be so much help for a lot of women out there camping alone. They needed to feel your fear in order to take care of themselves, to trust their gut instincts. This was an amazing video. You did a good thing . ………….Little pup needs a doggy chiropractor . She has a hunch.. I bet she would feel so good with a little work done. Just found you and subscribed..

We once moved our camp miles away because weirdos in a nearby camp were looking at the females in our group similarly at Muley Point. I was never a gun guy, but I am now, especially for car camping.
Going there shortly, armed and ready.
Google a guy named Gary Michael Hilton....
Wow I can see the absolute fear in you. I started feeling it myself. So happy you got out of there. 💕
If i could, I wiould give you a hug.
