Hello, I'm a Korean viewer. I love traditional American songs because they are so cool and exciting! But I'm not sure what it's about... The song itself is so good
its about the war in 1812 that the americans fought, and them discovering british in the southern town of new orleans and fighting them off. love korea and hope to visit someday
IDK if you wanted more info, but it's about the battle of New Orleans fought in 1814 in the war we refer to as the war of 1812 (southern Louisiana, where the Mississippi flows into Mexico). This battle was fought after the peace treaty was signed with the British, but before the news had reached the soldiers. This is when "Ol' Hickory" Andrew Jackson became famous as a war hero. He would later become president, and is why one of the main parties mascot is a donkey (in reference to the similarity of Jackson and jackass).
Had it not been for the Indian Removal Act of 1830 and the tragic result of the Trail of Tears, Andrew Jackson would have been otherwise been a great President and a great American hero! But, instead because of what Andrew Jackson did to the Cherokee Native Americans and the other southeastern Native American tribes, Andrew Jackson is unfortunately one of America's greatest villains! Ironically, there were Cherokee riflemen on the side Colonel Jackson who fought against the British at the Battle of New Orleans.
Still trying to figure out if that flute bit is a separate song cause I'm PRETTY SURE I've heard it before, if anyone could tell me what its from it would be appreciated!
Wrong British flag at 0:45. That flag was only used between May 1, 1707 and December 31, 1800 for the Kingdom of Great Britain. On January 1, 1801 the Kingdom of Ireland was unified with that of Great Britain as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. and the Cross of St. Patrick was added to the previous British flag making the current flag. The Battle of New Orleans was fought 14 years and 1 week later on January 8, 1815.
I'm not anymore. Thanks to the all the woke and anti y t nonsense I'm ashamed. Also because of the military industrial complex and the things the government keeps doing. If we went back to being a real America with traditions and obligations I'd be proud.

We really didn't lose, the war gave the new republic a sense of national belonging where as people before the war would say that they are a "massachussian" or a "Virginian" they now called themselves a american

It’s not
This is fun, but Horton had a way of spicing up the vocals, same as in Sink the Bismarck. This has very little emphasis on any one line.
