- I learned the basics of finger waving through this series of instructions: www.vividinfinity.com/fingerwave/ Which I highly recommend using along with this video.
However, I found that the waves are MUCH easier to achieve when using wave clips, and thought that the illustrations were very confusing.
This is a style that requires lots of practice to master, so get all the supplies and borrow a friend on a lazy Saturday afternoon before you attempt a finger wave style for a special event. This video was made after I'd practiced ~5 times, and the results aren't perfect, but I hope the instructions will help you get the technique down so you can try it out on your own. The first few times you do this, it might take 30-40 minutes, but you can get faster and make the set in 15, dry enough to remove the clips in another 20 or so.
This is part 2/2. There's a lot of babbling and editing, but don't worry, anything that I feel is an important instruction is coming across loud and clear. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Your model is beautiful especially with her finger waves! You did a great job!
@bellamami2390 Haha well, the 'finger' in finger waves only implies that you use the finger to hold one or two waves at a time- after that you have to move to the next wave. Manuals of the time advise that (especially for ladies whose hair is typically straight) you use some kind of clip or comb to hold the others in place. One thing I would change is that when you put the ridges in the hair, pinch it between two fingers and THEN clip it- it gives a more defined ridge. :) Great job!
I wonder if the people complaining about how the ridges aren't deep enough realize that marcel waves and finger waves are two different styles. Finger waves usually are flat and made using the fingers and sometimes aided by clips depending on the stylists preference (it's not "cheating" to use clips lol). Marcel waves are the ones with the deep ridges and are made using heated irons.
Very nice
@brittanyg820 : I'm glad you think so! This really is a beautiful style and I love how it's starting to come back a bit on the red carpet. Try it out and let me know if you have any questions!
if she had sat 20-30min under a bonnet hair dryer you would've *nailed* it
i find it easier to achieve the same effect on the nape if you lay some flat pin curls in rows.
1 row to the left and the next row to the right and so on....
once set, brush lightly into its place or wave.
She looks impressed... 👀😂
@ob2be Yes, I just comb it out carefully once it's dry, following the wave with the comb. It won't look like finger waves anymore, though, just like soft, evenly wavy hair. Perhaps there's a happy medium that you can set with hair spray? I haven't messed around with this much but I will let you know if I figure something out!
Is the hair actually wet? Or do you start dry and spray it with a setting lotion. I bought setting lotion, but it was difficult to use. Any type you would recommend? Many thanks in advance!
i´ve got an other technic to create much deeper waves.. i use curlers or papillotes. finger waves dont make volume .
instead of clips i would use combs, because they don´t mash the surface.
@virgiijauregui I've found it much easier to do when the hair is wet first. I like the lottabody setting lotion, diluted maybe to 1 part to 4, and I put it in a spray bottle.
okay so wheres the third video!
Try an under head dryer
@NoLifeLindsey thanks that certainly cleared things up lol :))
The model would look good with a pixie cut!
Cute!
