I have to admit, I don't entirely understand why someone would travel so much but look for/expect everything to be English. The point of international travel I believe is to embrace the differences and widen your experiences. Not go to Cyprus and eat egg and chips.

Ask the thousands of British Restaurants. You don't have to eat the local food to see what other parts of the world is like, I've travelled to the far east and eaten a Cockroach on a stick. It didn't make my experience any better, if anything it made it worse!

Hiya Lee. I was one of those people who recommended Cyprus but unfortunately you went totally out of season. That’s why so many of the bars and restaurants looked closed down. It’s not like the Canary Islands which are all year round.Come from back between May and November the weather is fantastic and you would see a totally different side to Paphos.
I have a house in Peyia and spend a lot of time over there and the road works, yes they have been going on for 2 to 3 years but it has been in stages throughout Paphos. Not all at once.
If you’re coming to Cyprus please don’t let Lee’s experience cloud your views.
    Cyprus is a wonderful place.👍

Normally enjoy watching all your videos Lee. However so disappointed in your Cyprus videos. You haven't filmed 'Cyprus' You have focused entirely on the problems with the resort of Paphos. However, the 1st day's video was sufficient to make the point. As per so many comments you chose to stay around the resort, albeit aside from a very short trip to Limassol. Cyprus has so much more to offer. If you like history, why not visit the archaeological world heritage Roman site, with beautiful mosaics.? It was a 2 min walk from the restaurant where you ate the steak. This latest vlog summed it up for me. Your last day on the island and you chose an English breakfast. You have sadly missed out on so much.

Cyprus has been 'on the slide' for the last fifteen years. A battered and corrupt euro economy, massive internal manipulation by Russian money, and a never ending stream of poor middle Eastern immigration. A similar journey into Ratshit as the UK has suffered.

I am half Cypriot and lived there 18yrs. You can not put the whole island down because of one place you have been to. Have you travelled to any of the villages across the island? Lefkara? Pyla? Troddos mountains? where they cook only traditional? As for the weather i only ever experienced rain for around 4-6 weeks in the whole year 👍 You have to explore the island far more before knockin it

It is a total travesty that you haven’t bothered to travel to other parts of Cyprus. The Troodos mountains ( pine forests) are amazing. The tomb of President Makarious is a must see. There is an interesting rare type of goat to be seen there too. The far north eastern corner has Aphrodites pool which is amazing. The whole of the north Cyprus coastline especially Kyrenia are a must see. The towns of Larnarca and Famagusta are well worth visiting. Try the beautiful temples along the south coast. It is so sad that the MacMaster does what he always does and gives very shallow click bait reviews which are NO GOOD to anyone. Who the hell cares about snotty eggs. MacMaster please grow up and give your intelligent discerning viewers what they are looking for. You don’t have an automatic right to your viewers. Paphos admittedly isn’t the ultimate yardstick to use to give an all round impression of Cyprus as an island. If you’re staying in that part of the island the best experiences in culture and cuisine are found off the beaten track either away from Kato Paphos or Tombs of the Kings Avenue or in the nearby villages that surround Paphos. For true Cypriot cuisine or the best pizza or Italian food in Paphos apart from Ristorante Bacco, it’s a known fact that Gennadios Souvlaki and La Sardegna da Gino next door are the places to be. There is always queues outside for tables, a mixture of locals and holidaymakers mainly and a family oriented feel.

Lee is entitled to his opinions, however we will still visit twice a year. We have done the touring around in the past but now prefer a hotel based holiday with pleasant walks along the seafront path each day. Yes there is construction going on to replace the aged drainage and infrastructure, but you can avoid that area. Plus Bar Street was once a bustling place but tastes have changed and it has fallen out of favour, but it is only one street and there are many others to explore. It will eventually be renovated but the authorities are prioritising their works which do seem to be slow progress, however the same was true of the harbour area which is now looking very nice. By the way if you venture away from the harbour restaurants there are some traditional eating places that offer good Cypriot dishes at affordable prices. As a former butcher that steak was never Fillet and grossly overpriced. You could have done much better and shown Cypriot cuisine in a better light than your video did. In saying this if we all liked the same places they would be far too overcrowded and suffer like places in Spain and the Canaries where locals are voicing concerns about too much tourism.

Well Lee I know you can have your opinion on a place but sorry to say you got what you deserved it seems from the time you had arrived it was not British for you so you spent about 5 days wondering where all those Englsh food places were.
Wow you found a Fish bar with all your English comforts then found this place Tea for two then breakfast looked horrible so you could not wait to get back to the UK .
The best place you showed was that Phivos where you had great local food
Well remember you did go there out of season so hope you were not expecting everything to be busy that is time of the year where they get ready for the summer season.
So Lee if you really want a great english food and way of life then go to those places in Spain where there is so much there.
you will feel at home there.
So this is just my opinion .

We visited Paphos in August 2021 (my last 'family' holiday) and there wasn't the major roadworks when we were there, but some work on buildings (we thought it was typical new hotels being built). However, 'Bar Street' looked very similar to how it looked on one of your other videos, with loads of empty, seemingly abandoned bars, and that was in Peak Season (August). However at the time, it was the first summer after Covid, so we put it down to that, but seems lots of those places never recovered and came back.
We did enjoy our holiday (at the time), and think part oif your trip has suffered being out of season. But good that you also show these places at different times of year too, so people know what to expect, if they prefer to go when its not full of families with kids.
    Onwards, my friend.

I live in Australia and I always visit Jervis Bay and they have really scenic beaches with very white sand which belongs in the area . The beaches in Ayia Napa has imported sand . Originally the beaches has grey volcanic sand . People couldn’t understand why I felt that Cyprus beaches are far too commercial . When I was there the locals didn’t like me because I was born in England but live in Australia . My nationality is Greek Cypriot . I sadly did not fit in with the Cypriot people . You are filming and reporting what you see and video doesn't lie. (I love Paphos but wouldnt get defensive about it, your just pointing out the issues and it like everywhere has its issues. Ignore the bloke having a pop.) I do think if you had gone in season with the sunshine it would have been much better. (Sunshine always makes things nicer) Everyone wants different things from a holiday. We love Paphos but the building works you show are bad but I believe they are due to be finished by peak season? (Going late May so will see) We go most years so can confirm there have been building works for last 5 or 6 years, however always in different places. (Started in old town, then papantonios supermarket road, by rose pub, kennedy sq access road, new & old bus station, old market, tomb of kings rd, shopping mall rd, promenade etc.) This is why the taxi driver moaned as constant diversions in place. We were there last September and the bit you filmed had only just been started and was nowhere near as bad as it is now so not true to say going for 2 years, but is true to say work in that general area going on for 2 years. Yes it's a poor experience but major investment going in and it will be a lot better when its finished. 🤞 (Appreciate as a one off new visitor its not what you want to see though) We love Paphos for its relaxed vibe and unlike some other resorts its not such a tourist trap. Others say they love Ayia napa or protaras, Limassol etc. done them all and we rate Paphos above any of the others? (In fact all med resorts and canaries too or at least the ones weve been to, which is a great many) Real shame you had such a poor experience. Its maybe not what it once was, maybe after all these years we have rose tinted specs about the place, but it is a lovely part of the world imho and we enjoyed all our visits greatly. Thanks for the films btw, may not share your view but enjoy watching regardless 👍

Lee, the reason you see half finished buildings around Cyprus is because as soon as they finish them they have to start paying taxes. The Helios Bay hotel is a nice place to stay on the main road to Coral Bay with good restaurants nearby. We never stayed in Paphos, just visited during the day and evening.

It’s what you want out of a holiday. We love Cyprus, yes it was abit of a building site but there’s so much more than bars. We went on a jeep safari, boat trip blue lagoon. Adonis baths is beautiful. The zoo is good. We did all of this in November. Oh and we bought a cat home. As far as English food we personally would rather have local food on holiday. But great vlogs, enjoying them

I was fortunate enough to visit Cyprus a couple of years ago during peak season I stayed in an average all inclusive hotel which surprisingly (for all inclusive) had really good food probably the best selection I have had in any country. I took a day trip to Pathos, place wasn't anything special. I did have a very enjoyable holiday but that was honestly more down to the hotel I stayed at was right up my street. Cyprus is ok and worth a visit if you get a good deal It's hot and not overly expensive. I'm going to Egypt in two days time's not been before not planning on doing much just want a weeks chilling away from the cold.

I also try to avoid other British l and areas made for British like the plague. I want to speak with locals and experience their country.

Love Paphos, was in Coral Bay in February and have booked to go back in June, weather in February was sunny and in the 20’s every day! June will be in the 30’s. We always hire a car and travel around. All the works around the harbour are due to Paphos being the 2023 European Capital of Smart Tourism. Cypriots have a saying, Avrio, which means eventually, and the harbour will be finished avrio. Don’t forget Paphos is a world heritage site and when they dig they find things. Keep up the good work though.

Went to Cyprus in 1997. It was so cheap, pre Euro. It was just lovely and the people very friendly and welcoming. Went back in 2010. Wow, what a change and not for the better. Developments going on everywhere, lots of ex-pats drinking in British pubs showing Sky Sports. There was rubbish everywhere, even in the countryside including heaps of discarded building materials and broken down machinery. Our hotel was rubbish, the people were miserable and very aloof. They just seemed peed and ripped you off. Also, horrendously expensive for everything. The only thing going for it is the weather and the cats!

In fairness a lot of places will be closed until at least April.
It's too hot in the summer months to do any building or refurbishments, so it always happens in the low season which tends to be the end of October to the beginning of April.
You'd be amazed how quickly they can get things done, not just in Cyprus, but any of the Greek islands as well. If you went any time after the end of may you would see it in a completely different light. It looks to me that it has come a long way since I last went about 18 years ago. Personally I prefer the Greek islands and have been going to Zakynthos every year for the last 12 or so years.
However, I do want to try Protaras at some point in the not too distant future. I have heard a lot of good things about it.

I live in Paphos and have done so for a good few years. Please please understand that Cyprus is a great island and I definitely feel that these videos were very negative. In most of the “so called” run down places they are undergoing a massive transformation which every city does, albeit in a different way. There were great places to see had Lee carried on walking that bit further. I felt he purposely focused on the unbuilt/ damaged areas too much. Local cuisine is amazing and plentiful and reasonably priced,if you go to traditional places not the restaurants aimed at the tourists, in fact had Lee chosen to eat at the other end of the harbour away from the marina he would’ve found that out. I’m so disappointed in his views, this is an extremely diverse island.
