Cody should have never took himself out if the title race.
I think he only did it because he was a EVP and didn't want ppl to criticize the company if he won the title

@@GreyLeo I agree same with the bucks! Being evp' they didn't want to Make it look like they were booking themselves to be Champions right away
I think honestly if Cody had even won the title it would’ve never been accepted by the fans, even when he was liked by the AEW fanbase. Even when he won the TNT title Cody some fans were throwing out “the evp is booking himself over other talent” Cody never had the “indie street cred” his fellow EVP’s had to win the world title & it be accepted regardless of babyface or heel alignment.
Lol nobody answers when I ask why the other ones didn’t take themselves out of title pictures too.
Honorable mention would be Brain Pillman Jr
He had A L L the momentum after his dad’s Dark Side and the fans were ready. He then lost a 3 week mini feud with MJF and back to the bottom of the tag division
Hopefully WWE/NXT will treat him better
BPJ had nothing going for him aside from his dad's name. Maybe WWE can train him to cut a promo and it'll work out.
I cannot BELIEVE the excuse for not doing the Keith Swerve match is that it wouldn’t be good. I know Keith has had his issues and slowed down but you look at the work he did in that team and it was all great. Just insane
The cody heel turn thing actually reminds me of Bayley's beginning as the role model only hers translated. She swore she was a face even though working with her heel BFF and the slow burn of becoming a bit uppity and so firth.
An impact list would be wild. Especially with the TNA relaunch

Don’t know if there’s a lot of creative TNA botches. There’s a lot of stupid TNA creative ideas. But don’t think making a bad storyline worst is a creative botch.

Yeah, the Keith Lee/Swerve thing bothers me the most. They could've made Swerve hide behind his Mogul Affilate goons and do a gauntlet match that Lee has to win to get his match with Swerve.
But how many times have we seen stuff like that with MJF, not a gauntlet match but the whole FIGHT these people then you get me, it's a good storyline if they hadn't run it into the ground with Max.

Out of the 3 the best right now is HBK with how creative is with NXT
Triple H has been solid but there’s still some glaring hurdles
Tony has sparks of greatness but he books things like a fan if that makes sense.
I remember when Stokely was with Jade for a minute too. Her booking was so messy.
The Outcasts could have been so much bigger and better. Toni, Ruby and Saraya could have added Athena, and even women from other promotions. Deonna Purazzo from Impact, Tenille eventually since I guess its possible she'll end up in TNA again. That gives you six women across two promotions who can do interpromotional appearances, matches and feuds. Have Ruby and Tenille capture the Knockouts tag championships, after the Outcasts accuse Tony of not caring about the women's division enough to create tag titles for them. Have appearances in ROH from time to time to back up Athena. Hell, have a Stardom appearance and set up something to possibly work in Mercedes or Guilia. If you're gonna go for an NWO feeling faction go all the way. Maybe work things up to a Blood & Guts type match for the women, Ruby, Tenille, Deonna, Toni & Athena vs. Mercedes, Guilia, Masha Slamovich, Jordynne Grace & Trinity.
I'll never understand how they fumbled Jade, Wardlow, and Malaki so hard.
It pains me how Wardlow would look like this upcoming mega star and then just halted 🙃
Jade was super green, all she has for herself is height, and height should be less relevant in wrestling. She was literally AEW's Nia Jax, she should've never been pushed.
Same for Wardlow, his main asset is his size. But his face looks like every gym bro out there, he's basically diet Brian Cage. He's still got time to be more than Token American Beef.
Malaki and injuries really hindered him, but Arn blocking a black mass killed alot of mystique. Cody should have just taken two clean losses without making it about himself and his potential retirement. All that overshadowed Malakai and his early growth. Then he's wrestling Lee Johnson and QT and its already failed

Ok I loved the videos that Joey and Sonny did. They were so much fun. They also had one of my favorite storylines as a result. I had no idea TK hated the vignettes. That's just disappointing.

The outcasts vs homegrown feud was the same thing over and over Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter would be beating someone up then Ruby or Toni or even Willow would come make the save and then Britt and Jamie would run away

AEWs womens division is the main reason why I don’t really watch anymore
A good chunk of aew's creative shifts have been caused by Injuries or talent going into business for themselves. They probably lost 6-12 months of story through cm punk alone.
While you are correct, there is enough talent to lessen those blows or one would think. I think TK should be able to work through that and still thrive
As we all know, AEW is the first wrestling promotion in history where talent has gotten injured or had an ego.

What do you mean? MJF’s character development during his reign was terrible. He went from the top cocky, not give af about the fans, only money heel to the biggest crybaby, feelings with friends babyface crying at press scrums. How was that good again?
I liked whar they did with Wardlow after that when he was in a program with Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs, but it seems AEW never had a solid creative plan for him. Even Hangman suffered because he ran into a brick wall called CM Punk.

I still have my personal conspiracy that taking Cody out of the title picture wasn't his idea- it was Tony's, or someone else's, and Cody went with it for the sake of appeasement.
It could be but I don't think so, it was early aew and they were strapped for main eventers, i don't think tony would want to relegate one of the only people they had as a legitimate world title contender to the mid card.
The only reason I could think of as to why AEW hasn't done anything with Keith Lee vs Swerve is because of Keith's health issues. He had long term effects since his was affected with COVID and that might be playing a factor into this. That Keith Lee doesn't think he can't perform as well as he could against Swerve in his condition.
I know I’m late to this but here’s something a lot of people forgot. Remember when Nyla was powerbombing everyone through a table, it was like Riho, Rick Knox and then Kenny had to step in and they had a face off, the potential of intergender matches in the beginning of AEW were there but if I had to guess it was a network thing
Having to narrow this down to only 10 had to be a challenge.

AEW's obsession with factions is rather grating, I get it's supposed to be different to WWE, but at some point a lot of wrestlers get lost in the mix of just being another guy in a faction.

I stopped after #10 The Gunns are 100x better than the Acclaimed. Nobody wants to watch grown men scissor each other.
The Gunns have improved a lot since they've joined Bullet Club Gold, but they weren't ready for the spot yet.
while AEW and Tony Khan have only been at this for four years, the fact there already are ten botches people can point out is kinda bad in itself, isn't it?
Not really, it is incredibly difficult to book four straight years of excellent shows without blunders, if you don't think so feel free to share your own and see.
Not to mention injuries, freak incidents, etc...
