i think the saddest part about all of the Disney remakes is that there was no enthusiasm or passion behind any of them, and the audience can see and feel that. so many missed opportunities.
Traditional animation was created through the sheer passion of skilled artists, willing a line on paper to give the illusion of life. So much imagination was required to make those films real, and now they use that past good will as a template for passionless cookie cutter repetition.
Pre covid and Disney plus people just went to consume mediocre products and got excited about the next product. I am desperately hoping the normies are done with it and a loud and clear message is sent and this movie flops.
Here's a fairy tale for ya. Long long ago, I started my career in animation at Fox, when the Disney Renaissance was winding down. It was a time when everyone was starting up an animation studio, and we were all gonna topple the mouse house. Instead, Toy Story changed everything, and all the traditional studios shut down within a few years. Those of us who survived learned CG, and the rest dropped out of the film industry. Isn't that a nice ending? 🤨
It's not just personality, gender, etc. What people don't like about Miller is that he's allegedly a groomer, abuser and kidnapper. And somehow just being one of those took down Jonathan Majors, but not Miller....
Disney's formula was taking classic stories from areas around the world, taking the crazy shit out like the sister in Cinderella cutting their toes or heel off to fit in the glass slipper and made them family friendly while also honoring where the story came from. Which is why these stories that were created in all white Europe countries have all white characters and Mulan had ALL CHINESE. What needed to be changed?
'89 Batman was the first movie My Dad (RIP) ever took me to and for my 9th bday. It introduced me to DC and comics. I can not stand Ezra Miller and yet very excited for Batman 3. I can not wait to take my boy.
Chris Gore not liking Batman Beyond kind of broke my heart a little bit… Bruce is not a background character, he is very much involved in every episode, even takes action in some episodes when Terry couldn’t. Hope he gives it a chance one day
Batman Beyond should be awful. It's the epitome of an executive-directed TV show idea. But Bruce Timm/Paul Dini/et al just made it work. Doing things like giving Bruce and Terry a kind of samurai/apprentice relationship, dosing out the original nostalgia stuff and focusing on developing compelling new villains instead, etc all worked towards making it a great show.
How can the final version of the film not be ready yet when the release date is in just 3 weeks? Don't they need time to get it to the theaters and do promotion for it?
They are likely making final decisions based on reactions/reviews specifically regarding cameos & post credit scenes. Promo is already going full steam ahead.

It's very upsetting because all they (Alan Menken and Lin manuel miranda) do is talk about honoring his legacy and they've updated his original lyrics for at least 2 of his songs. I can't think of anything more offensive to his legacy. And I am usually a big fan of Menken and Miranda. This may be their worse work yet and feels like its just about the money for them now and to say that they worked on it. Ashman would be offended.

I haven't liked any DC movies except Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight. I have never had any interest in seeing this movie. But now it sounds like I should at least give it a chance. But I can wait until it is free somewhere.
I have a better idea for a black Little Mermaid movie. It's an origin story involving a capsized slave ship and a sexually adventurous dolphin. I'm seeing a possible redemption arc for Jada Pinkett Smith's acting career if she can make this dolphin rape scene believable. Don't let me down, Hollywood.

I can't believe I had to work and missed this. I need to position myself to be more independent just to be able to enjoy this in real time. Here is my situation. I read both DC and Marvel comics, with a peppering of Vertigo, Dark horse, Top Cow, and others... I always equated Marvel with comics, graphic novels, with the X-Men cartoon being their Highwater mark until the Iron Man movie... DC, for me was the comics, it plethora of animated programs and their older, well made Movie films. I'm just happy to see DC character in the big screen again... Because between DC and Marvel characters... It always feels like the DC universe it better suit to be translated to the Big Screen more than the Marvel universe is.
Don't know, if they work with certain companies, they can get huge, or at least well known, movie/ TV characters from their own comics. Some examples being evil dead, Godzilla and attack on Titan, among others. We know these work well for film, and they already have official crossovers in the comics, so it's not a huge step to take, aside from copyright and royalties, I'd assume

I think I will agree with the one opinion. Multiverse of Madness was a terrible multiverse movie. Instead of throwing in the cameo characters to just die, they should have had some real guest characters that helped Dr Strange overcome the big threat. But the cameo characters serve no purpose in the plot of MoM at all. Having Professor X and Mr Fantastic team-up with Strange would have literally been a perfect lead-in to bringing X-Men and Fantastic Four to the MCU.
Sounds like WB have thrown everything @ the Flash movie including the kitchen sink. I wouldn’t be surprised if they even bring in Nicholas Cage as Super-Man & Billy Dee Williams’s Two-Face finally

If you really feel that way, you wouldn't be able to watch any Hollywood movie. Almost every movie has at least 1 actor that has done something to that level or worse in it. Oof. There are black mermaids both in the series itself and mythology though, and the race swaps are lazy and annoying, so I get the frustration

That being said I cannot picture Ezra acting well at all. Before the scandles I thought every word he said in the DC movies was actively cringe, he's an LA sounding soy-boy to the gills *puke. I said out loud back then "What a terrible actor, why and how is he in this?" And now he punches women in public while grooming a teen; I'll never see this movie.
