Luke, 'no manches' originally comes from the term 'no mames' that actually means 'dont be an infant /child or figuratively dont be fool ' because infants still suckle or breast-feed. Verb -mamar- los niños maman. But today it is more used at the begining of a sentence as a surpirse marker. 'No mames guey' no pense que la fiesta hubiera estado tan buena! But the word mamar sounded rude or even vulgar as its meaning could take sexual conotations as ' to suck' Then 'no mames' for stetic reasons became 'no manches' as a pun word and sound much beter and no offensive at all and your parents would not scold you when using it. The good thing is that ' no manches' todays is more for good que for bad..but remember to always wait to hear the context before make your conclusions!! Buenas tardes Luke.
I came across a video of Mexico City (CDMX) that perhaps you might find interesting. It's from a channel called Normal Mexican Guy and the video is titled Mexico City The Traffic! The Traffic! The video shows you the crazy amount of vehicles that commute through the city with fantastic aerial shots of this massive city. Thanks for the watch I'm really enjoying the channel. Yay, nobody commented on this yet, 'aguas' comes from back in the post-Spanish conquest era, instead of the efficient way the Mexica had to dispose of human waste, the custom at the time was simply to toss the contents of the chamber pot right out the window, to the street below. As A courtesy to the people below though, you'd yell "Here come the waters!" so people below would know to get out of the way. Of course you would be often tossing way worse than just 'water' but yeah, that's why still today people say "aguas" to warn others.
