I agree that calling sprite a lemonade is kind of heresy because compared to real traditionnal lemonade, sprite is fizzy piss, but on technical standpoint, it is indeed lemonade, just like british cuisine sort of qualifies as food.
NO. As someone living in Ireland, sprite is SPRITE. I have never heard of someone calling it lemonade. Weather here isn't great for lemonade anyway and you rarely see it.
I'm from the UK. Lemon-flavoured sugar water is lemonade. Is it really that different depending on whether it uses real juice and whether it's carbonated?
I got into a very heated conversation with an Australian before, because they called Sprite (and similar drinks) lemonade. It's just lemon flavored soda (actually it's lemon-lime, unless the recipe is changed overseas), lemonade is highly sweetened lemon juice. I've been informed that they'd just called that lemon juice, which is also confusing because "lemon juice" in the U.S. is pure lemon juice without any sweeteners added, typically used as a cooking ingredient or for mixed drinks. (They also have lemon squash, which at first is what they thought I was referring to, until I found out that lemon squash is still carbonated)
As someone living in the UK, squash = cordial so usually isn't carbonated as squash is a heavily concentrated flavour mixed with water to make the drink. However you *can* mix it with fizzy water to make a knockoff soda. (Also in the UK cordial nowadays usually refers to the old school full sugar syrup style cordial Vs squash normally means the low or no added sugar cordial that is overwhelming the more common version now). The Aussie and Brits have a lot of similarities, here sprite&7 up are a type of lemonade but we do use the brand name too, supermarkets do own brand versions and sprite is lemon-limeade soda/pop but they are in the lemonade section at the supermarket not with the 'other" flavours, just like Dr pepper is usually included in the cola section but isn't a technical cola.
4:00 update, the judges finally relised that america has more than enough medals and the bronze was given back to a romanian athlete!
Austrian here: many people here call every soft drink lemonade (not just lemon flavored ones). And the real thing is just called lemon juice.
It's called "Limonade" in german
I suppose a number of soft drinks do contain citric acid 🍋 but from an American point of view that sounds weird
same in Russia "Lemonad"
We are nit realling saying lemonade we are just using the names of the drinks
If soda is lemonade, lemonade is lemon juice, then what is lemon juice?
@@mdn_mane7626 yeah, but I've often times seen lemonade as a collective term for soft drinks
