MORE ABOUT THIS CABINET
As mentioned in the video, this Whisky Cabinet is an exploration of ideas and in order to do this, sometimes the usual woodworking rules have to be broken in order to push these boundaries. I will be holding onto this piece for a while so I can see how my ideas hold up over time. But the true intention of this piece has most certainly been accomplished. I wanted a challenge and a challenge is what I got. This piece not only pushed my technical abilities, but also pushed me creatively, and personally. Something I go into a little more detail in the free review video.
At the end of the day I’m pleased with the end result but there is one mistake that still effects my overall view on this piece. But that’s not something to be deterred by. This has happened to me on many pivotal builds throughout my career and no doubt Ill eventually see this piece as what’s its intended, a true exploration of this incredible craft we call woodworking.
A couple of things to note. Yes the lights turn on when the doors open thanks to a magnetic sensor. Also, this is a whisky cabinet designed to only store 2 or 3 of your favourite bottles. It's not designed to be a storage cabinet.
A big mention and thank you has to go to Joseph Walsh who I mentioned in this video. His incredible work plays a massive inspiration in my work and continually fills me with excitement knowing that there’s a level of perfection that an individual is actually able to achieve.
Also, a big thank you has to go to my buddy Guy who provided me with the whisky for the photoshoot.
As always thank you so much for your support here on TH-cam. The fact that you even watch my videos means I can continue to make more unique builds and share them with you. And if you haven’t already, please consider subscribing as this will help my videos to get pushed out to more and more people.
Now you hear me talk about Patreon a lot. It’s actually the main way that I can financially support this channel and continue to provide free videos here on TH-cam. If you’re still not sure about it, then you can watch this short video which will outline all the extra content you can gain exclusive access too. / about

INSANE BUILD 🍻 !!! beautiful
I really hope not, I love your content, its so informative yet relaxing to watch, i honestly wish there was more, but i understand why not, such another great video from you man. looking forward to what is next.
NEVER apologise for doing great work, mate. Yes, I was dying to see the next project but I’d have waited another five months if it meant you were finally ready to show it off :) Thanks for the build, the content and above all, the passion!
@@Cypherical Thank you
@@punky230869 Thanks so much
You don’t post often but when you do, it’s mind blowing 👍🙏
Thanks
I could not put it better except to add that I imagine that your understanding of your skills and of yourself will continue to expand and evolve for quite some time from this whole experience.
Your are Australia’s Michelangelo
I don't think you could buy expensive enough whiskey for that thing
Nah, bottle of Bells and you're fine
Hahaha.
Not even the macallan the reach seams worthy to call this cabinet home
I have seen a Bottle for 120 000 € ,I didn’t even Know it existed that expensive.
@@GWA-r8r no better than a tot of Grouse
It's one of those pieces that at first look, you think "cool". But the longer you look, you are amazed by the details. In the end, you're left speechless!
Thanks
I'm always so excited every time you publish. Phenomenal work my friend.
I’m always a giddy school boy every time he posts. You’re not so bad yourself good sir.
Thanks so much man
When will the jig and sled squares ship? I have not got an update after ordering
Nick, you are without a doubt the most talented and interesting woodworker on TH-cam. Whilst I don’t love your style I love the way you execute it and there are very few, if any other craftsmen out there showcasing themselves in the same way. Like you I’ve watched everything and everyone and I’m bored of all of it. Thank you for being brave enough to do something different it’s remarkably refreshing. You are an inspiration.
Thank you
You sir, are the most talented woodworker on TH-cam.
Thats very kind of you
Not just TH-cam, the planet.
Agreed, my mind is blown
Man, from the eyes of a fellow woodworking content creator, you won the internet. Well done, sir. Well done.
haha thanks
I’m not subscribed to your Patreon (yet) so I’ve been patiently waiting for this video for months. Let me say, the wait was worth it. It’s an amazing piece. Showing and talking about your mistakes is one of my favorite aspects of your videos. Not because you make mistakes but because you admit them, then discuss how to work around them. It’s woodworking, and you do a great job truly showing what it’s really like. As always, well done. 👍🏻
Thanks so much
That is the most astonishing piece of craftsmanship and design I have ever seen. Just breath taking.
That's not a Whiskey Cabinet. That's a Cathedral for Whiskey.
Beautiful and inspiring design and craftsmanship.
The curve becoming the door handle is truly beautiful. The lighting sends it over the top. Functional art. Inspiring.
70 years old, been creating things all of my adult life, I've been called an artist by many but after watching this build I'm without words. Bravo!
I'm in the same boat as , just a little younger.
Thank you
Absolutely phenomenal. You keep right on building what you want to build and I will watch every minute of you doing it. Your work is an inspiration to so many of us. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you
Wow. This is a seriously complex, inspiring, beautifully executed sculpture.
When I saw the lighting. I had to bit my lower lip. Both my cat and I sat there and watched from beginning to end in sheer astonishment. Loved every part of this! Wish I had all the space to do bigger projects like this! Thank you again for showing us all how far creativity can be pushed in the wood working space!
In awe of this piece and of you. The courage, patience and perseverance to pull something like this off with such great success is mind-boggling. You should win some sort of award. Thank you especially for sharing your mistakes. It was painful to even listen to you talk about as we've all been there many times. Sometimes, you just need to do it over (the legs) and sometimes it becomes an opportunity for something creative (like the miter joints). I love that you showed both. This video so accurately demonstrates all of the highs and lows of woodworking and I just can't thank you enough. I also really appreciated your honesty about the struggles of working by yourself with no timelines or other people looking over your shoulder. This is way harder than people realize and often times freedom can be not so freeing. Again, thank you for sharing this with the world.
Thank you so much!
Wow, staggeringly beautiful. This to me, is the benchmark to design, creativity and craftmanship. Please keep doing what you do
Nick, your videos are ALWAYS worth the wait. You were absolutely spot on when you made the comment about a gallery piece, because this is truly that. I don’t know if you have ever entered any furniture contests that some high end furniture magazines do, and if you haven’t you most certainly should. I made an open liquor wall mounted cabinet for a friend that I tested myself with by doing some things that I had never tried before such as a blind dado for a shelf, corner dowels for an accent and no metal fasteners and using my scroll saw to make the monogram from red oak. Normally, at this point I would come up with a single word to describe this piece of art, but Nick I have no words because it is beautiful
Thank you Steve
I love your work, it’s the classic “don’t tell me it can’t be done, I’ll be the judge of that”. I would love to spend a week or two working with you.
Beautiful piece! You’re working through some profound life questions. “Freedom to do whatever we want doesn’t feel very free.” I’ve found more freedom in my faith than anything else in life.
This is just incredible! Such an amazing piece. Can highly recommend the patreon! I have been only for a couple of months but I have learned so much in this time! Well done. I think this is one if not the most complex project I have seen done.
Thanks so much! Glad you're enjoying Patreon
Absolutely stunning. I feel honored that you have shared this with us. Thank you.
Thank you
I must admit as well that you are one of the few woodworkers posting on youtube that I really draw inspiration from and to hear you experience challenges that I experience is encouragement to keep pushing forward. I really appreciate you being vulnerable with the struggles you faced and also your persistence in creating this cabinet. So cheers, great work again!
That cabinet built is insane! I was really looking forward to the upcoming video and it is 100% successful! You are a great source of inspiration for me, always reminding me how beautiful creativity is. Thank you for sharing yours with us and also your thoughts. The ups and downs that I, and I'm sure many others as well, can relate to.
Keep on doing what you love and share it with the world. You make it a better place with every single built. Cheers ✌🏼
It is beautiful!! You’ve managed to create a whisky cathedral 👏🏽👏🏽
Your videos are always a joy to watch and this one is tops. Congrats!
That is one remarkable piece of art/furniture !!! And I can see why it took you 4 months to build.
There are so many aspects of it, the legs, the cabinet, the wood choices, there are too many to list.
You really pushed yourself and succeeded !!!
Simply stunning!! It was an absolute delight watching this video. I questions myself and my sanity all the time, striving for perfection, pushing my abilities, recovering from mistakes, watching my work for hours searching for inspiration. It is reassuring to know that even after 30 years of making furniture you experience the same challenges. Thank you! This was a very, very, valuable lesson!
Absolutely stunning. Thank you for creating it and taking us onto the journey.
"Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong." Peter T. Mcintyre
Seriously Nick, you kept me on the edge of the chair more than once... That final cut on the "door handle"... I didn't realize how important it was until I saw that the upper part was in fact the handle... so absolutely no room for any mistake. I've been following you already for a long time, but this build its just out of this world mate... Congratulations and cheers from Buenos Aires!
Nick - I relate to the topic of this video so much. I grew up in a high-end furniture/cabinet business (my dad's) and have been making things since I was a teenager. I briefly did it professionally in college but decided to go into STEM instead. So now I have the perfectionist expectations of having seen amazing world-class furniture being built and the perfectionist tendencies of a scientist...needless to say I really struggle to build things that I am happy with and always find myself abandoning projects because of mistakes and oversights. It's nice to hear a professional talk about going through the same mental gymnastics, I don't think it gets covered enough (speaking of TH-cam videos that I wish were made more!). Always love your work and videos.
Thank you. Glad you liked it
I am not a woodworker. I paint. The process for all artists is to challenge yourself. For you, an artist like you, the bar has risen very high. Don't question yourself or your motivations. Your creations are nonpareil.
I have cried from joy over some of your creations. Yep, I am a dork, but beauty should bring one to tears.
21:46, where you talk about mistakes.. One of the best pieces of advice/ philosophy of making that I learned at Art School from my Painting teacher, the late Bob Millis, was 'Don't be precious about your work, remember the sage words of Bob Ross, there are no mistakes, just happy little accidents'. It took me quite a few years and many a Guitar build that ended up either learning to fly or residing in the corner of shame for me to fully grasp the meaning. But I reckon you have come to the realisation that those mistakes are what makes you a better maker.
That’s ABSOLUTELY beautiful! You just keep pushing the envelope and it’s stunning what you come up with. And the amount of planning and detail that goes into a single step or cut is just crazy. But the proof is in the cabinet. “Pun intended”
Absolutely stunning, a wooden work of art. That staggered lighting bouncing off the layers is like a religious temple. Looks like a painting inviting you in. Magnificent
So worth the wait for this video. Came out beautiful man. Usually I watch videos on my phone but this one I watched on my huge tv and made my wife watch with me. She was so impressed with the things u do and how this build came out. Awesome work
Your craft is truly amazing. I would dare to say it is unmatched amongst the online creators. And your desire to risk it all by going further each design is what is push your art. Impressive as always. And humbling. Thank you for sharing your gifts.
Wow!! No words can describe this! All the work involved in this and the lighting effect. Amazing you are!
Ok it’s like ‚now I’ve seen it all‘, I can finally stop watching woodworking videos. Thank you! Insane build beyond words.
Your comment on river tables and French cleats was worth my “like” alone. Beautiful piece
This is absolutely amazing!! You truly are gifted. Gorgeous work.
At 68 I’ve just seen just about every famous and not so famous wood workers craft there is to see. It takes a lot to impress me and even more to inspire me. So far this video is responsible for at least 4 hours of lost sleep and I’m sure it will cause many more as I figure out to innovate what I make.
Thank you N. Pedulla - Master of Wood.
Congratulations!! This is one of the prettiest wood project i've ever seen!!
Honestly, I am not a wood worker but your work and disciple inspires me in ways you can never imagine. I look at your work and to know that a human like me can be so diligent and strive for excellence its something worth living for. Thank you.
Always crushing it man. That thing is beautiful!
I always come back to your videos for inspiration and you always manage to inspire me to be just that little bit better with my own work. I work in a different medium but your attention to detail and precise execution let alone the breathtaking design aesthetic is truly infectious. After watching your work here I must venture back to the shed to press an idea I had for a part of my current fixation into a physical thing. Thank you Nick.
Thats awesome, thank you
I actually checked your channel the other day to see if you had posted, glad you did now
Absolutely jaw-dropping Nick. I have 3 takeaways I would like to incorporate into my furniture:
1. The detail with the through tendons with the saddle template and router bit.
2. the use of stained/dyed accent pieces.
3. Tonise more bending forms to give my furniture a “pop” fresh look.
Thanks, Nick for your inspiration
Absolutely awestruck (again). Hands down my favorite craftsman and this is another beautiful piece of art. Every time I lack the motivation to get in the shop, I rewatch one of your videos and get completely inspired to create. Thanks Nick 🤙🏼
Thats Awesome! Thank you
“I’ve been striving in freedom in my work for decades, but oddly enough that freedom doesn’t feel very free… too much choice hinders momentum” the point you make here is profound and extends far beyond woodworking. Completely different industry, but I heard this and the following comments and shouted “yes!”. You’re very self aware and articulate.
I love skipping to the end then watching the whole vid to see how it was put together
Just incredible! Well done! I can't believe you could hand-cut that door handle so eloquently. I admire your confidence in your abilities!
I applaud you in your dedication and uniqueness. As much as I enjoy making unusual and out of the box ideas, I’m too scatterbrained to spend that much time on one product and would lose interest and inspiration as soon as another idea came to mind. But that piece is priceless and your focus is unparalleled.
46+ minutes of joy!
Yourself and New Yorkshire can make the videos as long as you’d like and the longer the better as far as I’m concerned.
I've been woodworking for 13 years, and I can't understand how this is done. Well done! Thank you for showing me I have a lot to learn.
Um ... wow! With some videos this long, I would tend to skip parts - not today! The frank 'discussions' brings clarity to the overall process & appreciate that honesty. For me was a truly emotional ending - the audio quite provoking - complimenting the process & finally the piece itself. Huge thanks for bearing it all & the video itself is a masterpiece! Congrats on this exquisite piece of furniture - phenomenal!
Thanks for watching
What a masterpiece. You have outdone yourself! Amazing work.
just wow. I think I put this on every video I watch of yours. But they leave me with only that. Well done.
Nick,
First, thanks for sharing the free video on Patreon.
Secondly, you are the inspiration for me that Joseph Walsh is for you.
Beautiful work, despite the “flaws”. I hope you have great momentum on your next project.
Nick wow !! This has been an amazing journey I feel like I’ve been with you the whole way ! I’ve learnt so much from everything you have shown on Patreon! And the joy to see it come together was an absolute pleasure! Your skills are out of this world and like each video you make this is by far the best! Until you bring out the next one ! Thanks for continuing to be my biggest inspiration 🙏
Thanks so much! And thank you for coming along on Patreon
Simply brilliant. Your work is something I couldn't imagine ever achieving.
yes, many of these woodworking channels, I think to myself "hmm, if I got the right machinery, maybe I could have a go at that"
but Pedulla? no way. His work belongs in a gallery
Absolutely fantastic work Jedi...love your mindset.
This is a piece representing an unique craftsmanship.I admire all your work and I'm very much inspired by it,but let me say that this piece is on another level!Thank You for sharing it with the world and again-thank You for inspiration.
Thank you
Koje zadovoljstvo gledati majstorske ruke.Bravo.
Pozdrav iz Srbije
Another amazing piece from your gifted hands. I love that every new project is building on the backs of your previous projects.
That said, one thing struck me towards the end of the narration. Your search for more complexity.
I disagree with this idea that we should be trying to make things more complex, more difficult, more intricate in order to outdo previous efforts.
Instead, I have been subscribing to the notion of simplicity. Which is a challenge in and of itself where you are trying to distill complex ideas down to their simplest form and still create something useable and beautiful - it’s not as easy a feat as you would think.
Can’t wait to see what you dream up next
Yeah I agree with you, and I will be getting back to more basic stuff in my next videos
Sweet lord that's the most beautiful piece I've ever seen here. And I said that about your work bench. Just keeps getting better.
Saw that you've posted on You Tube. Your evolution of the build is something I truly enjoy. Came to similar conclusion as I'm later in my life. CNC machines make individual small work non competitive when doing it by hand. So I make presents of small work as my work is always appreciated and not compared as the shopper might do, and I've wanted to build what's in my head for the longest time. Your work is inspiring, and motivating. Thankyou !
A beautifully crafted piece of functional art. My favourite details? The doors, the moulded tenons, (I'll definitely be stealing that idea), and the lighting. Congrats on achieving such a unique, generational piece of work.
Thank you for taking us through your journey to build a piece of furniture that is truly stunning! Wow...
Well worth the wait, Nick, and stunning. The bent lamination is a masterpiece. Looking forward to the next one.
Your creativity and ability is off the charts. Thank you for sharing this video.
I’ve been pretty busy lately, and while I kept my Patreon subscription, I haven’t logged in to watch along for months. MAAAAAN am I glad I kept it active. I can’t wait to dive in and see all the techniques and inspiration. Some of this is actually mind boggling to me. Hell I’m just trying to copy the veneer on my upcoming workbench leg chop like you did. Baby steps haha.
Thanks for sticking around. Hope you enjoy the videos
Outstanding, Nick. What a beautiful piece! Congratulations on a fantastic video too, superbly put together.
I have been following you for a long time and all your work is spectacular, but this one has gone up a level. I can only say bravo, I love the way you work and for me you are a reference in this beautiful profession. Incredible friend. A hug from Spain. 🇪🇦
This is just a stupendously gorgeous piece! You've outdone yourself mate!
Your work brings tears of inspiration! Thank you so much for what you do!
The fitment at 36:04 could not have been more perfect/satisfying, the cabinet looks incredible!! 👏
It’s crazy to me you’ve ‘only’ racked up 300 odd Ks of subscribers. Your work is bloody phenomenal!
You are without a doubt the most impressive woodworker I have ever seen. There are no words to describe your talents. Amazing piece of art.
Nick. That is a perfect representation of a journey to masterpiece.
Your voice over style is what I value the most. Understanding the thoughts and decisions of Makers' as they present their craft to the world is truly priceless in my opinion. Will that be an option on the paid subscriptions on Patreon?
Again. Well done brother.
Thank you! The extended Patreon versions dont have a voiceover but I post regularly where I talk to the camera about different woodworking topics
I would not call what you built a cabinet but rather a tabernacle! Incredible design, beautiful materials and impeccable craftsmanship has resulted in a true masterpiece. Congratulations on such an achievement and many thanks for taking us along for the ride. If you ever decide to try and top it I hope I'm there to see it.
I mean, WOW! I nearly cried looking at the final result. This is special. It's art. More than art. Your skills, Nick, are out of this world. Well worth the long wait since your last creation.
Absolutely amazing! I love each new project you do and look forward with anticipation for the next one.
Wow! This is the most beautiful piece of furniture I've ever seen. You are a true craftsman and artist.
I just purchased the series, not that I'm capable of making anything close to what you do😀😀
Thank you. Hope you enjoy
This piece is absolutely gorgeous, as is all your work.
Good god man where has your sanity gone?... That is un believable! Phenomenal design. Super well done! and thanks for sharing.
Beautiful lines, combined with function. Congratulations on creating a masterpiece. Well done!
Haven't even watched it yet. Been waiting for months to see your latest creation. But I already know it is gonna be one hall of a piece
Wow, just wow! Beautiful design and workmanship, and I think you're treatment of the 'cock-up' on the mitred corners by adding accents might just become the new standard way to show a mitre. 👏👏👏👏👏👏. Thank you for showing us your approach and mentioning the problems you faced, we've all been there and as a luthier, that wood you used for your inset panel has not gone to waste at all, it sets that door off beautifully.
Excellent project congratulations. Getting a ton of inspiration from this and your process. Keep making wild stuff!
I think the cabin is beautiful. Thank you for letting us tag along as you made it.
I'm not sure if I can come up with words to express how amazing this cabinet is. It's a stunning piece of art! It must be something to see in person. Thank you for sharing your amazing knowledge and talent. Greetings from Maine, USA.
Beautiful! I enjoy watching your process, with the lessons learned. I've had periods of motivation, stress and frustration on various projects. Like yourself, I've been developing on my hand tool skills. It's very easy to become overdependent on power tools, when the right hand tool can save a lot of frustration and time, along with producing a better result.
Watched on the train with earphones when you cut the door/doors in half I shoulder “what” out loud! Was shocking well done!!!!!
I learn so much in these videos. Your mastery over these tools is inspiring.
One beautiful cabinet and piece of art. Kudos to your skills. Hope there's many more
incredible work of art, its always extremely humbling watching you design and build. Amazing job
Fantastic, can't wait to dig into some of the details on Patreon. You skill set is as good as it gets!
Thank you
