A man peacefully parked in a public library parking lot, minding his own business. Presumably no signage indicating "no parking after hours" or "don't use the wifi after hours." Judging from the outcome - no arrest, no summons, not even a warning - NO wrongdoing! So, without so much as mere suspicion of an offense, police came at this guy with emergency lights running, weapons drawn, issuing commands, demanding ID, threatening arrest/jail, and accusing him of trespassing and obstruction. Looked to me like the police, acting under color of law, committed: 1. improper use of emergency apparatus; 2. unlawful seizure; 3. assault with a deadly weapon; 4. brandishing; 5. terrorism; and 6. conduct unbecoming.

+Travis Heinze Thank you Travis for standing up for your rights, and especially for your comments around 10:45 in the clip. You decoding the bullying disguised as politeness made my sides bust open. The hypocrisy these cops possess is evident when instead of simply checking and being on their way in a minutes time, expounded into a 25+ guilt trip about being somewhere that shouldn't matter... Also for trespassing wouldn't you need someone that is a person in charge from the library to inquire about you being present there, and not just simply a neighbor, that seems to have reported your presence otherwise...

"I'm refusing to ID myself. "
    " I have a gun and I'm making him nervous "
" I'm being loud an impatient and threatening to arrest him and charge him, with multiple expensive fines and offenses ". "So send back up. "

Evelyn Miller stood on her Fourth Amendment rights and refused to allow a U.S. Marshal into her home without a search warrant, federal prosecutors charged her with “obstruction of justice.” In reversing her conviction, the court noted that Miller “asserted a right which was hers, and which none could take away. That it . . . subjected the officers to the inconvenience of getting a lawful writ, neither detracts from this right nor subjects her to a crime for having asserted it.” Id. at 489-490.

619 OG unfortunately, Terry is absolutely correct, and you look like an imbecile. Police may NOT demand a drivers license simply because you are in or near an automobile. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself before you hit the keyboard with your shocking lack of knowledge.

Washington is not a stop and ID state. We are not required to ID ourselves unless under arrest. Since this was not a traffic stop, license is not required. An individual cannot be trespassed from public property without a complaint and if the individual refuses to leave or has returned after being asked to leave.

Most people are neutral between evil and good. People have their evil moments and blessed moments. The timing is usually unpredictable. I don't believe these cops were hunting for trouble. Something in them snapped, and they became ruthless. They are probably mostly neutral. Although, the next day when I went back to the library and used the Internet again, they came back and sat there watching me for 20 minutes. I just kept my head down in my computer the whole time.

What's wrong with a tired traveler parking in a public parking lot during the night? Lots of towns have ordinances that prohibit it. Isn't it power over all the people that government really wants? I guess it makes the government feel safe, but it's at the cost of public safety. It's not safe on the roads when drivers are tired and yet they drive on. I've heard it's just as dangerous as drunk driving.
