    I'm sorry but, a thesis on homosexuality in the churches of Quebec?! Not really sure if we need people who specialize in that sort of issue. We have many wonderful specialists who were born, raised and educated in all forms of sociology right here in Quebec. Why would we want to import someone from another country to do the job a Quebecois should be doing. Sorry, but we Quebecers come first when it comes to working in our province. And, what's wrong with your own country of origin?!

    • @alecton
      @alecton 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +9

      Apparently Quebecois have personal attachments to the local church and family and friends with a long history in the community, so they'd risk a lot by researching this. An impartial outsider with no pressure points is actually ideal for that type of research.

    It’s all due respect, I am not quite sure that being a researcher at a publicly funded institution is what we need in Quebec from an immigration perspective. That we subsidize immigrants to do publicly funded research on topics of very narrow interest is troubling. I am glad that this young man has found a research topic that interests him, but this is not something that reasonably brings a lot of value to Quebec.

      @@kapdrummer8415 Canadians born here, are Canadians. You can't change the definition of immigrant
      Bringing up the past doesn't change that, and not EVERYONE here today has family ties to that.. What most citizens do however which earns them a part of the land to live on is contribute to the betterment of the country, working in some way to keep society functioning, working together in different roles to maintain a comfortable living style, and needed services while maintaining Canada's traditions and values. And Canadians have been doing this for generations, including their Grandpa's and Great grandpa's
      Stop trying to divide our citizens with that hypocritical line.
      A very logical response to someone saying something about illegal immigrants, your reply is to bring up past immigrants from 500 years ago and make assumptions about others being related, without actual knowledge how do you determine when u see someone if their great great great Grandpa came here and involved in the incidents with natives.
      Pretty sure there were no immigration laws or visas to apply for then so the "illegal" part is nonsense. Land isn't owned by anyone.

    There is a big difference between landing in Canada as a permanent resident and being there on a student visa or any other category of temporary visa. This was not made clean in this report. If Canada gets hit by the 25 per-cent tariffs, there will be massive layoffs. Many students were made to believe (by whom) that they could automatically apply for permanent residency following their graduation from a Canadian university which was never guaranteed. A visa is not a binding contract. It is an administrative permit issued by the Canadian government. There is no cookbook path to permanent residency in any country, let alone Canada.

    I think the professor at the end really needs to define his terms. I think the general notion of "immigrant" is someone from another country who's gone through the difficult work to become a Canadian citizen - and they should have all the rights of a Canadian citizen. Temporary workers, international students, rich off-shore millionaires living here in their mansions on 10-year visas should get fewer rights. For instance, given the crisis level of housing, they shouldn't be able to own Canadian property when most working Canadians are priced out.

    • @amandalee1268
      @amandalee1268 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Doesn’t matter what skill set anyone has, you have to go through proper channel to be a resident. Just because you study here doesn’t mean a pass to get permanent residence. Students are here to seek education, a degree, not permanent residency. It seems a lot of students who came here expect and demand to be given residency status after they finished their education. N to make matters worse, a lot of them are given work permits and are working. What about Canadians and why are the students given so much rights.

    I know an immigrant family came here on Canada at Quebec pnp and settled on Alberta. They simply came on Montreal first and after getting the documents, immediately let to Edmonton. The reason they are saying is very interesting of his youngest child’s treatment. In my opinion this is a complete misuse and shouldn’t be allowed to renew their pr, if they don’t live in Quebec for certain times

    I know someone there in Quebec who has intentions to commit immigration fraud in Canada. They got into Canada using student visa but their main intention of getting a student visa is to be able to enroll their teenage son into free Canada high school. They do not intend to complete the university studies, and they will apply for asylum one day. Which Canadian authority do I report this to?
